Blcup, 2006

Tried lots of others; this textbook worked very well for me.
I've never taken classes, but have just self-studied (with help). I've tried a lot of other textbooks and never got very far. This is the only one I've ever completed. CC301 Vol. 1 contains the first 20 beginner lessons that can be covered at about one lesson per week. With any language, there are four essential components: Reading: This textbook is excellent for this. First the basic ...

Conversational Capital: How to Create Stuff People Love to Talk About5 reviews
Bertrand Cesvet

FT Press, 2008

The science behind common sense marketing
Word of mouth is what all product developers have always been wishing for. We all know that pier to pier recommendations have more impact than any ad will ever have, but as the marketplace becomes crowded with new stuff and consumers become more sophisticated, the pressure to create the ultimate "experience" is constantly increasing. The bar is set higher and higher everyday and this book gives ...

Conversational Chinese 3011 review
Kang Yuhua; Kang Yuhua; Lai Siping; Zhu Wenjun

Beijing Language and Culture University Press, Chi, 2006

Most progress I've ever made...
The idea behind CC301 are the 301 basic conversational sentences, which are (as the authors intended) pretty quick to learn. The textbook then builds on these basic sentences via substitutions, expansions, and sample conversations. I've tried a lot of textbooks and CDs and, so far, I've made the most progress using CC301. This is the 2nd ed. of CC301; currently there is a 3rd. ed. (which ...

Conversational Spanish? Yes, but conversational Colombian Spanish
With respect to my background, I am a self-described learning-Spanish-aholic that has bought and collected nearly every learning-Spanish product sold on Amazon. I am also the founder of Learning Spanish Like Crazy and the author of several articles on How to Learn Spanish. And now for my review of this Spanish course . . . I love these CDs. This course is definitely in my top 3. What I ...

ASL in two days
My wife works at a doctors office where they have a couple of deaf patients. She has always wanted to learn sign. She couldn't put the book down. After two days she was signing non-stop. Originally she only wanted to buy the DVD instruction but I encouraged her to use this book too. Now it is the other way around. She goes to this book first and uses the DVDs as a backup. I also got her ...

Conversational Spanish2 reviews
Juan Kattan-Ibarra

McGraw-Hill, 1997

Good Spanish textbook
A good textbook for ones who wants to study Spanish from zero level at home. Perfect for the beginners but not very deep. You may need an additional textbook to learn grammar. There are many conversations, common phrases and useful expressions in 18 lessons. A small Spanish-English vocabulary at the end of the book is also helpful.

Conversational Hypnosis: A Manual of Indirect Suggestion17 reviews
Carol Sommer

Sommer Solutions, Inc., 1992

Read it Twice before you rate the book
At first I thought "What the hell did I pay for?" As I quickly read through this book I felt I was "taken". I was about to post a very negative review but decided to read it again. On my second reading I took the time to actually stop to study the phrases, look at and learn the importance of where and what word is emphasized as well as other valuable information. It is an amazing little book.

Conversational Tagalog: A Functional-Situational Approach5 reviews
Teresita V. Ramos

University of Hawaii Press, 1985

good introductory-level text
I found this book complimented my other books well in learning Tagalog. There are many gramatical explinations and good vocabulary builders. The focus is not pure memorization but to develop your skills in the language and understand how it works. The text is probably better for a more structured learning environment. It is not geared towards the "Teach yourself" learner.

Conversational Hebrew (Modern): Learn to Speak and Understand Hebrew with Pimsleur Language Programs (Simon & ...9 reviews
Pimsleur

Pimsleur, 2005

Just what I wanted
This cd was just what I wanted- a stand alone audio course I could listen to while commuting. There is a nice pace to new material mixed in with the old so you don't forget. My only criticism would be I would like shorter tracks for easy repeats when I miss something(or maybe my cd is too old). This is a nice starter to try it out, and they'll give you a discount on the next portion.

Conversational Latin1 review
John C. Traupman

Bolchazy Carducci Publishers, 2006

Wonderful, very handy
I use the third edition of this book several times a week when preparing short conversational exercises for my Latin class. It has thousands of everyday words and phrases, in their best and easiest Latin idiom forms. Each of the 25 chapters covers a different conversational topic (e.g., school, greetings, food, sports). Each chapter has three sets of short conversations, scripted so that we ...

Conversational Italian in 7 Days8 reviews
Shirley Baldwin, Sarah Boas

McGraw-Hill, 2004

Very easy to use.
I did not know any Italian before I bought this set for my vacation to Italy. I think that it was a great, easy to use combination. It's easy to understand, yet challenges you to really learn Italian. The audio cassettes were helpful in understanding the pronunciation and phrases that the book gives. Although, I wouldn't say I was a pro at the language, this set really helped me to understand ...

Conversational French in 20 Lessons (Cortina Series)6 reviews
R. Diez De La Cortina

Cortina, 1990

The grammar section alone is worth twice the price
If you were to rip this book in half and just keep the reference grammar section, you'd still have a bargain. The twenty lessons are excellent and are also a bargain on their own. Compare this book to everything else on the shelves at your favorite bookstore, compare its price to the prices of the others, and you'll soon learn that by that scale any Cortina "20 lessons in Conversational (whatever ...

Excellent for a language beginner
Pimsleur's products are excellent. The CDs provide the very thorough repetition and drill necessary to begin building real converstional/listening skills. I've used Pimsleur to garner "travel fluency" in both French and Spanish. While I've continued studying French, I still ocassionally revisit the Spanish discs to review before travel. I've tried various beginner's listening CDs. Pimleur's ...
