Outside Inn (Orchard Paperbacks)1 review
George Lyon

Scholastic, 1997

Kids explore a pond and find imaginary food
My almost-4-yr.-old and his nursery class love this book. The words detail a meal of bugs and "puddle ink" to drink, but the pictures really capture all the fun of pond exploration. It's a quick read, yet the children go back to it by themselves to look at the illustrations more carefully.

Thinking Outside the Recipe Box: From Egg Foo Old to Apple Pan Chic1 review
Jack Foster

Globe Pequot Press, 2005

A delightful cookbook!
I really liked this cookbook! I learned a lot about the origin of recipes, and I had a wonderful time reading it. My father, who was a terrific cook, died before the book was published, but I KNEW he would've loved it even MORE than I did. Kudos to Jack Foster for his creativity and great sense of humor, as well as aptitude in the kitchen.

Ripe for Dessert: 100 Outstanding Desserts with Fruit--Inside, Outside, Alongside6 reviews
David Lebovitz

William Morrow Cookbooks, 2003

Delicious!
I am a big fan of David Lebovitz's "Room For Dessert", but was skeptical to try "Ripe for Dessert" because I am not a huge fan of fruit desserts. this book, however, proved me wrong. The recipes are delicious. My favorite was the Lime Marshmellow Pie (although I did use whip cream and storebought graham crackers). A lot of the recipes have fruit on the side and would be delicious without the ...
