Assassin21 reviews
Stephen Coonts, 2009

Another great novel from Coonts
The Assassin is a great action thriller. Stephen Coonts is excellent at keeping his readers hooked in to the plot. The second half of the book is absolutely relentless action whereas the first half sets it all up nicely. All the plot points drop into place emphatically. Well recommended if you like political/action/violent thrillers.

Liberty: A Jake Grafton Novel (Jake Grafton Novels)34 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2004

America beware!
Coonts is a surprising novelist who can sometimes strike out with a storyline, and yet other times his books hit a grand slam. I'm happy to say that Coonts "hit it out of the park" with his latest offering "Liberty" If this story doesn't scare the living BeeJesus out of you, nothing will. What makes it so frightening is that this could really happen the way he wrote it only without the happy ...

Stephen Coonts' Deep Black: Jihad (Deep Black)8 reviews
Stephen Coonts, Jim DeFelice

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2007

A great find
Techno thrillers are pretty much a guy thing. It is also surprisingly subjective. For example, I do not like the Clancy books, and I hate the W.E.B. Griffen books. However, the Coonts series of Deep Black books has struck a cord in me, and I devour them. There is just the right blend of plot, character, and technology, to ring true for me. I like the fact that we blow away Arabs and muslims, ...

Liars & Thieves: A Novel37 reviews

Same book as THE TRAITOR
This is an excellent story, but save your self some grief. Buy The Traitor. It's the same book. Who knows why the different title..?

Final Flight21 reviews
Stephen Coonts

Dell, 1989

An exciting military thriller by Coonts
If anyone can write great military fiction, it is Coonts. Stephen Coonts is a decorated aviator who flew combat missions during Vietnam. Like many of his books, Coonts casts Jake Grafton as the main character and puts him, as usual, against great odds. This book is actually a sequel of sorts to his first Jake Grafton novel called Flight of the Intruder. There is a lot of mystery that ...

America: A Jake Grafton Novel (Jake Grafton Novels)38 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2002

A Deepwater Extravaganza
I found this novel to be very entertaining. The Sub world of the Navy was somewhat unknown to me as that was not my end of the Navy but I certainly enjoyed the wording and had no trouble following the Nautical terms and situations. I have found Mr.Coonts to be a very strong story teller. This is my third book read and all have been very good. As there is truth in all fiction this one made me ...

Stephen Coonts' Deep Black: Conspiracy (Deep Black)9 reviews
Stephen Coonts, Jim DeFelice

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2008

A powerful reading by Christopher Lane
Stephen Coonts' DEEP BLACK: CONSPIRACY receives a dual narration by Coonts and Jim DeFelice and a powerful reading by Christopher Lane, who adds high drama to the story of an apparent suicide, the interrogation of a Marine sniper, and a Deep Black agent who has uncovered the trail of a killer. High-tech weapons, undercover agents, and a plot to destroy the U.S. make for vivid action in an audio ...

The Traitor (Tommy Carmellini, Book 2)25 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Press, 2006

A dissapointment
I was excited to see The Traitor available for the Kindle and jumped at the first opportunity to read another book by Coonts. Having read Liberty and Liars & Thieves, I thought another Coonts book would be fantastic. Unfortunately it seems the bar has been lowered. Without giving away any of the story, it felt that Coonts didn't know where he wanted to go with the plot. Not much even ...

Deep Black Dark Zone (Deep Black)6 reviews
Stephen Coonts, Jim DeFelice

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2004

Thoroughly Entertaining
This was book was a page turner. Took me 2-1/2 days to complete it, it was the type of read that sucked you into the story. The characters were well developed, and the scenes had an almost "zen" like flow between them. Personally I felt this book was almost a cinema for the mind. It's worth the money.

The Minotaur9 reviews
Stephen Coonts

Dell, 1990

Spy catcher meets techno-thriller
This is the sixth Stephen Coonts book I've read, and the first one that I liked so much that I'm giving it five stars. "The Minotaur" combines two main stories that are cleverly interwoven with each other. Story 1: There's a traitor, code named Minotaur, somewhere high up in the Pentagon who is channeling America's top military secrets to Moscow. Amazingly, the Russians don't know the identity of ...

Cuba (Jake Grafton Novels)60 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2000

America's Best ...
Stephen Coonts served in Vietnam as a carrier based fast-jet pilot. Tom Clancy, so legend has it, sold insurance. My point is this: If you want real-time warfare, read Coonts. Without a doubt America's best.

Very cool concept
Stuck in a mound of sand the only real proof that we are not alone. My one problem is having to fill up on water so often... You travel across the galaxy and you need to fuel your vessel on water?

Stephen Coonts' Deep Black Biowar (Deep Black)35 reviews
Stephen Coonts, Jim DeFelice

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2004

Fun, fast read!!
Everybody CALM DOWN!!! Who cares if this book was ghost written, or why and how Coonts developed the story? If you like fast, furious action, with plenty of plot twists and turns, then read it. It's almost like watching an action movie--you DON'T always know exactly what's going on every second, but that's the beauty--you eventually find out through the action sequences. RELAX!! Anyway, if ...

Hong Kong (A Jake Grafton Novel)40 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2001

Jake Grafton finds himself in the middle of an explosive situation
Fresh from his mission in CUBA, U.S. Rear Admiral Jake Grafton finds himself on what he expects to be a relatively uneventful mission in Chinese controlled Hong Kong. His assignment there, to investigate possible ties between former comrade, software billionaire and US Consul General "Tiger" Cole and a group of political insurgents, seems so straightforward that he even brings his outspoken wife ...

The Intruders23 reviews
Stephen Coonts

US Naval Institute Press, 2006

A revisit with Jake Grafton in his younger years
"The Intruders" is one of the 10 books in Stephen Coonts' very good series of thrillers about Jake Grafton of the U.S. Navy. Exactly where "The Intruders" fits into the Jake Grafton series depends on how you look at it. Judged by the year when the story takes place, "The Intruders" is book number two, following "Flight of the Intruder", Stephen Coonts' first book. But Stephen Coonts did not ...

The Red Horseman17 reviews
Stephen Coonts

Orion (an Imprint of The Orion Publishing Group Ltd ), 2003

Stephen Coonts flying high at a low altitude
The high point of "The Red Horseman" is the aerial dogfight between Jake Grafton (flying a Russian Su-25 "Frogfoot") and four Russian Su-27 "Flankers", with most of the action taking place below 200 ft. altitude! Stephen Coonts is very good at writing about this kind of combat, and you really feel that you're right there in the cockpit with Jake. This book is the fifth or sixth (depending on ...

The Cannibal Queen16 reviews
Stephen Coonts

Pocket, 1999

A facinating journey of the heart and soul .....
Some people might consider this a book about flying and nothing more. If so, they will most likely be dissapointed. Cannibal Queen is a story about one man's journey into his heart & soul. It's a story that happens to take place in an airplane; I love flying so please don't misunderstand me if my review isn't more centered on the act of flying. If you love flying you'll love this book, but ...
