This book is just what I was expecting...a lot of line drawings reflecting the older woodcut style designs from medieval times of many plants and flowers, mostly of an herbal category. The printing is on glossy paper on one side of the sheet only. Some of the plant varieties have more than one drawing, but each is different. The designs are mostly 2" x 1.5", some larger. Great Book!
This is a terrific book. I purchased it with the companion book on Animals. It is a "must have" for anyone interested in art, biology, or just a good coffee table book. It will keep youngsters quiet for hours with the facinating illustrations. Very high quality. You just can't beat the price either. I highly recommend it. You, too, can be botanically correct!

Very Nice
This is just packed full of brilliant illustrations of birds frogs fish girafee spiders butterflies you name it , throughly recommended for any one who loves botanical illustrations or engravings , really good source material for artists or designers.very nice book but rember it is a paper back not that that matters to me.

Of the Dover Books, this is one of the most interesting. The only caveat is they don't offer it with a CD like so many of their books. Highly recommend for hilighting projects. It adds alot of detail to manuscripts, music, etcetera.

The illustrations in this book are not the same woodcut type illustrations typical in other books in this series. If you are looking for a good picture of a tree, I suggest you look elsewhere. The book does contain Latin names for plants pictured, though, if this is helpful to you.
