Helen Cordero And The Storytellers Of The Cochiti Pueblo (A Closer Look Activity Book)1 review
Nancy Howard

Sterling, 1995

Excellent for elementary children.
This is an excellent book. I am an art teacher who uses this book to help children appreciate other cultures and their traditions. I use the book for inspiring children when we do a clay project. I do not have the children copy the clay figures, but come up with ideas of their own. The media specialist at my school also uses it to encourage children to create their own stories.

Courage of the Heart2 reviews
Chelle Cordero

Xlibris Corporation, 2001

really good read
I was really surprised by some of the twists and turns in the plot. The characters really seem to jump right off the page at you. I really enjoyed it and am totally enthralled by the hero! Any more books by Chelle Cordero?????

Frommer's Complete Hostel Vacation Guide to England, Wales & Scotland (Complete Hostel Vacation Guide to ...3 reviews
Kristina Cordero

John Wiley & Sons Inc, 1996

Backpacker's Dream Come True
I backpacked the UK in September of 1999 by myself. This book helped make the trip one of the best times I've had in my life. It was frequently the envy of fellow hostel-goers, and was often seen on hand in the hostel libraries. The directions to individual hostels can't be beat and the 'things to do' areas are great as well. I realize that this book is out of print now (why?), but if you ...

Cool Cuisine: Taking The Bite Out of Global Warming1 review
Laura Stec, Eugene Cordero

Gibbs Smith, Publisher, 2008

favoloso
This book is a fabulous reminder of how we can get pleasure from eating simple foods and lessen our bootprints on Mother Earth, both at the same time. The time is ripe for our personal and cultural relationship with food to evolve into what Laura calls a "High Vibe" one. This book should be in every classroom and doctor's office!!

Bartlett's Rule1 review
Chelle Cordero

Vanilla Heart Publishing, 2008

Bartlett's Rule
A fantastic read -- a love story between two seemingly very different kinds of people. Between all the tribulations that get in the way of their romance, they ultimately triumph. The story is so well crafted and the characters evoke lots of emotion from the reader. The plot takes lots of twists and turns and underscores the severity of rape crimes and the lasting damage it inflicts upon its ...

Shining and Other Paths: War and Society in Peru, 1980-1995 (Latin America Otherwise)4 reviews

Duke University Press, 1998

A revolution that only brought suffering & death
"Shining and Other Paths: War and Society in Peru, 1980 - 1995," by Editor Steve J. Stern is a collection of essays that vividly documents a revolution that only brought suffering and death. This five-part book traces the roots of the Shining Path from its heady beginning to the conquest that failed. Part One is dry. However, Part Two & Three generate much more interest. I found Ponciano del ...

Philippine food & life1 review
Gilda Cordero- Fernando

Anvil Pub, 1992

A must read
If you must read only one book on Philippine food and culture, this is it! The book is a real tease. It tells you a little about textures of food and the weave of Filipino life and leaves you hungering for more. It contains many vignettes on regional food in the Philippines and the quaint practices of the people who belong to that region. This is not a recipe book. If you have read The Man Who ...

The Country Under My Skin: A Memoir of Love and War18 reviews
Gioconda Belli, Kristina Cordero

Knopf, 2002

This Book Touched Me In So Many Ways
It's hard to know how to start writing about Gioconda Belli's autobiography, The Country Under My Skin: A Memoir of Love and War, since it reached and touched me in so many ways. This is the story of a woman, a mother, a revolutionary fighter, now living in Santa Monica, who used to wear a machine gun as a part of her JOB! To read the life story of a contemporary, of my generation, who ...

Hojas de Otono - Las Cartas Mas Tristes del Mundo1 review
Teodoro Gomez Cordero

Grupo Oceano, 2002

My Brother's Gun5 reviews
Ray Loriga

St. Martin's Press, 1997

Caidos del Cielo
Excelent book. Along with "Heroes" and "Lo Peor de todo" (Worst of All) this book shows the best of hispanamerican new literature. The story is most fun, very watchable...in your head you see what's happenning, and you can't stop the reading till you get to the end....A must! Recently Loriga has directed his own film version of the book, with Christina Rosenvinge, and with music by Sonic ...

Within the Law1 review
Chelle Cordero

Vanilla Heart Publishing, 2008

Within the Law yet another fantastic Chelle Cordero Novel
She's done it again! Chelle Cordero has shared a suspenseful, romantic tale of two people the reader can't help but become involved with...Tom Hughes and Alli Davis face dangers and distrust- together, and make for another fantastic story. Even the secondary characters have such depth and emotion, the reader feels part of the story, not only a reader of a story. Thanks, Chelle!

Seven Against Georgia: Erotic Fiction (A Black cat book)1 review
Eduardo Mendicutti

Grove Press, 2003

Charming, in an unexpected way!
This is a very odd concept. The prologue is narrated by a tape recorder named Miss Bocaccio ("I am a portable tape recorder, battery-powered, made by a Japanese manufacturer of somewhat questionable quality, brought in through Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, and sold on the black market during the Mae West days. But I turned out fabulous.") being bitchy about an answering machine named Mercurio ...

Medical Spanish in Pediatrics: An Instant Translator3 reviews
Isam Nasr, Marco Cordero

Saunders, 2000

An essential book for those who care for children
This book is outstanding. As a physician who cares for large Hispanic population, I found this book to be extremely helpful. All I have to do is to read the questions to the parents and they answer yes or no. I am able to obtain a complete history without relying on interpreters. It has chapters on the most common presenting complaints in Pediatrics. This book helps me tremendously to ...

Hugo Chavez: The Definitive Biography of Venezuela's Controversial President3 reviews
Cristina Marcano, Alberto Barrera Tyszka

Random House, 2007

So you want to understand Hugo Chavez
I bought this book for information for a twenty page college paper on Hugo Chavez, largely on the reccomendation of The Economist. This book was extremely helpful in providing me with an insight into Chavez's personality and potential motives. What I found most interesting was that it demolished the notion of an oil-intoxicated buffoon and replaced it with a shrewd, calculating leader who has ...
