Legal Education for all
A great book. Written by a expert in communication. Each case brought you into the defense, you believe in the actions brought forward to give not only a legal defense by our constitution but to see a inocent person never is incarcerated,if that ever comes to pass. I would hope Mr. Black will write more, he is able to take a very complicated subject and break it down to a laymans understanding.

Read it and eat!
I confess to not having tried a single recipe yet, but this book gets five stars from me just for the read. Jeremy Jackson is the next Edouard de Pomiane - very, very funny, surprising, smart, literate, and enthusiastic. Even if you hate cornbread (one word, note), you must have it. Buy it, read it, laugh out loud, and preheat your oven to 350F, because you, like me, will be dying to pup a ...

Awesome Find
This book is an awesome find. I discovered it over seven years ago when I was in college and still refer to now that I'm more experienced with cooking. It explains the basics and assumes that you know nothing. It leaves nothing to chance and most of the recipes have a short list of ingredients so you aren't stuck with extra stuff that can't be used again until you repeat that dish. If you are ...

Excellent History Reading on Life in P.R. Hacienda
I received this book on Saturday and finished it Sunday . An excellent, detailed account on life in a Puerto Rican Hacienda. Wonderful illustrations of people of the time and details of sophisticated equipment used in those time. A true picture of how life was then. My grandfather was a farmer and worked on a plantation so this gives light to some of the stories he told me about. An ...

beautiful pictures, nice story
We recently got this book out of our public library and I must say that it is a big hit with all of us. We (my son, my husband, and I) absolutely love the pictures and the text. I think this is a wonderful book that will get lots of mileage.

what a book
Everything you want to know about corn is found in this book. And I mean everything. We see corn growing in fields everyday but do we actually stop and think about it? Do we pull over to the side of the road and LOOK at it? It's amazing how corn has been around longer than anyone will know. This book covers an overwhelming amount of detail. If you don't find it interesting you're just not a ...

loveable book from childhood
i never owned this book, but every week as a child i would go to the public library and my mother would allow me to check out about 3 or 4 books. Each time i went, i begged and pleaded to check out "Pop Corn and Ma Goodness" because despite the silly rhyming scheme, it was my favorite book. Even to this day when I go to the library, i walk upstairs to the kids section to make sure it's still ...

A great poet, in my opinion, offers what anyone might recognize as beauty and truth. In Mr. Corn's poems, I have found prized gemstones for everyday use. What I enjoy most about his work is that he presents his stories and still lifes with equal skill, achieving that rare balance between a keen eye and a trained ear. Many of his poems are like those small and perfect clementines which, when ...

A great book from my favorite cook book author
A great cookbook. The recipes are straightforward -- some are downright easy -- but Rozin always gets the flavors right. The cookbook is a good read, too, stuffed with interesting information about food and food history. This was my first cookbook by Rozin. Now I also own Ethnic Cuisine and The Universal Kitchen. I like, and use, all three, but Blue Corn and Chocolate is my favorite. The ...

Why should we care?
I've known farmers and always wished them well. However, I never really had a burning passion for their survival. Growing up in Houston didn't exactly make me a "man of the soil". Yet, after reading George's book, I understand and finally do care about their success. This is a great book for folks who, like myself, don't understand. A side bonus - unlike a textbook, it's fun to read. George ...

BEST SAT/ACT PRACTICE GUIDE EVER
My son used an earlier version of this book and scored a 750 on the SAT. He also used it to prepare for the SAT Subject Test and scored 710. He used the book to refresh math learned in middle school and early high school and to fill in a few gaps in his math background. I highly recommend using this book.

Rows of Corn - USMC Boot Camp Book with True Grit!
Herb L. Moore, an enlisted Marine from South Carolina who served during the Vietnam era, gives an excellent account of his own USMC boot camp experiences at Parris Island. While this book does not have quite the commercial "spit shine" of other books that address boot camp, I actually appreciated it more than other related books due to the fact that the author recounts recruit training ...

The Corn Mother's Wisdom made me a better parent
As a woman with ancestors of many cultures, and now raising a child of my own, I found Marilou Awiakta's conversations about Selu precious. Several years ago, I used the margins of my book to add my epiphanies and questions, as Ms. Awiakta suggests. Looking back at those thoughtful notes, I am touched by the way that this book became a journal, weaving its wisdom into my everyday life. I still ...
