I'll Never Be French (no matter what I do): Living in a Small Village in Brittany 2 reviews Mark Greenside
Free Press, 2008
Slouching to Finistere Foolishly, I thought I would read a chapter to see what this book was like, only to find myself sliding through the first half dozen chapters unable to stop, laughing aloud, as if caught in a Chaplinesque journey of an Everyman in France, a Twain's Innocent Abroad in Brittany.
To read this book is to become for a few delightful hours one's own Jacques Tati as one bumbles through a personal "Mr ...

Provencal Interiors: French Country Style in America 17 reviews Betty Lou Phillips
Gibbs Smith, Publisher, 1998
Sun-drenched colors of Southern France "French country decorating at its finest is the harmonious mingling of fabrics, textures, and patterns - an artistic blending of the familiar with warmth and sophistication."
As you open this book, you may start to have the desire to suddenly order hundreds of pastel pink tulip bulbs. While this book is not quite as lavish as "Villa Décor" it is much more practical. There are extensive ...

Lovely gift I've been giving the French Country Diary to my mother (now my mother-in-law) every year for at least the last 15 years! They both love it for their weekly planners. This is a beautiful hard-bound book with magnificent photographs of the countryside.

New French Country: A Style and Source Book 12 reviews Linda Dannenberg
Clarkson Potter, 2004
Love this book! Really a wonderful book - both beautiful to look at and informative. Very interesting reading, as well as artistically lovely with wonderful, colorful photography. I am not a decorator or designer by trade, but go to this type of book for creative inspiration, and this one was a winner.

Country French Kitchens 16 reviews Carolina Fernandez
Gibbs Smith, Publisher, 2008
A stupendous Country French reference guide... it's like having a designer by your side whispering what IS done and not done! Having my own Interior Design business for over 20 years, and as an A.S.I.D. Allied Member, I only wish that I had this book before now in my office reference library to use as a design tool with my clients! The exemplary photographs serve as a superb "talking-tool" when discussing the many details and design options available to anyone designing a kitchen, whether Country French or another ...

Strong Five Star Book Charles Faudree's style is "Comfortable French" Anyone could live in his rooms. They have a touch of elegance without being stiff or too formal. Country French Florals & Interiors (Home Reference) 5 reviews Charles Faudree, Toni Garner, ...
Gibbs Smith, Publisher, 2008
Fab-u-lous!!!! I have been a Charles Faudree fan for years and eagerly awaited the publication of his first book, then second and now third. Every time I go to Tulsa, I make it a point to go to his shop and try to absorb some of the class and style that is such an inherent part of his design philosophy...and I have managed to purchase a bauble or two to add to my own decor. This trip we were fortunate enough ...

Tahiti & French Polynesia (Country Guide) 9 reviews Becca Blond
Lonely Planet, 2006
New edition is great! This new edition of LP's Tahiti and French Polynesia guide was invaluable on my recent trip. The details of the out of the way islands like Maupiti are wonderful, the writing is funny but clear and informative. It had details of local places and special spots that were not in the old one. I read up on the writers and one of them is an American woman who lives there, I could really tell that she ...

Corkscrewed: Adventures in the New French Wine Country (At Table) 2 reviews Robert V. Camuto
University of Nebraska Press, 2008
The soul of winemaking revealed When I lived in Napa, I saw the sad, inevitable industrial takeover of the wine community. Now the moneymen mass produce thousands of acres of mediocre cabernet or zinfandel in the Central Valley and slap a label with the word "Napa" on it to inflate the price. They doctor their mediocrity with wood chips and flavored yeasts. Some regions of France are losing their integrity to this bottom ...

At Home In France: Eating and Entertaining with the French 1 review Christopher Petkanas
Sterling, 2000
Delicious and Insightful No need to buy a ticket to France.....this book takes you there in ways only MFK Fisher and possibly Richard Olney managed. I loved it and continue to mine its rich vein of recipes. It seems extraordinary that an American could so truly and sensitively capture the culture of France.

On Rue Tatin: Living and Cooking in a French Town 48 reviews Susan Herrmann Loomis
Broadway, 2002
Excellent reading Having been a student in France in the 1970s, this book brought back a lot of good memories. Ms. Loomis is an excellent writer and tells a good story making me feel like I was there. I could easily imagine all of the situations and think any person with an interest in France or cooking would enjoy the book. It'll be kept in my library to reread in the future.

French Women for all Seasons: 2009 Engagement Calendar 1 review Mireille Guiliano

FSRS I have both of Mireille's books and love them. When I saw there was a calendar, I immediately ordered it. However, I was quite disappointed. Listed were birthdays of women such as Coco Chanel, Brigitte Bardot and Mireille herself. There were not as many extra tips and recipes as I was hoping for.

Great Country French Style 3 reviews
Meredith Books, 2006
I'm a French Country gal and I really like this book I've looked at several French Country books in the past that I didn't get because they were impractical,,,too fru-fru,,to much un-copy-able antiques or furnishings etc. This book worked for me because it gave many avenues of French Country from simple to ornate for real life people. I've gone back to the pictures many times and for the money it's cheaper than 2-3 magazines.
