The Courage to Teach: Exploring the Inner Landscape of a Teacher's Life 48 reviews Parker J. Palmer
Jossey-Bass, 1997
A Book to Re-Read Some books speak so deep to our soul that they help facilitate some type of life-change. We will always cherish these books for their ability to speak directly to us, no matter our life stage, for they carry in them principles that transcendent time. As if magical, each time we re-read these books they renew a fire within us or produce new truths that we missed in our first encounter. Some of ...

Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 2008
A must read for serious Christians You must read this book if you desire to understand why Christian churches are heading off in so many bad directions. Read this especially if you are grieved over the decisions your own church leadership is making.

The Courage of Sarah Noble 305 reviews Alice Dalgliesh
Aladdin, 1991
The best adventure book...kid review Sarah Noble went with her father through the wilderness to build a house in New Milford, Connecticut. She met new friends who were Native Americans. Sarah stayed with them when her father went off to get the rest of her family. The best part is the ending but I am not going to tell you what happens. I recommend this to kids that like adventure stories.

Undaunted Courage : Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West 348 reviews Stephen Ambrose
Simon & Schuster, 1997
A Story of True Courage Wow! This was the first Stephen Ambrose book I ever read. Now I'm hooked. His attention to detail is incredible. How those guys survived attacks by savages, grizzly bears, and other forces of nature is hard to imagine.
Ambrose takes the reader step-by-step through the journey, from the inception, all the way to the explorers' triumphant journey home, and beyond.
Once you read this book, you ...

The Courage to Heal 4e: A Guide for Women Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse 20th Anniversary Edition 130 reviews Ellen Bass, Laura Davis
Collins Living, 2008
Bashing I read so many reviews on here that say that this book is filth and a horrible buy and that whomever is interested should seek professional help and advice. I am currently seeing a licensed therapist and conferred with her over whether or not this would help and she supported it 100%. Yes admittedly there is such a thing as 'bad therapy' where they foster and encourage mistaken beliefs of abuse ...

Profiles in Courage (slipcased edition): Decisive Moments in the Lives of Celebrated Americans 90 reviews John F. Kennedy
HarperCollins, 2006
Just A Thought In Todays 213-212 House Energy Vote July 31 2008 I bought this book and it's a nice read and very historical, of course. I just wanted to put it in context today. 07/31/08 The house voted 213-212 not to extend the session. The main reason it was brought up was to debate the issue of our nations energy future One vote mattered to keep Congress in session, it voted against that debate. I wonder if that can be pinpointed to a single Representative ...

Prestwick House Inc., 2004
Thanks for help with my budget I bought all the books on my daughter's AP English class list from Amazon.com's associate bookseller's program after running all over town just to find the first one on the list. All the books were better quality than described and I got the whole list (a long one) for $60 including shipping. Everybody shipped promptly from all over the world, and she has what she needs. Thanks, Amazon!

Courage to Change: One Day at a Time in Al-Anon II 12 reviews Al-Anon Family Group Head Inc
Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc., 1992
Life Saver I have owned this book since the year it was published in 1992. I have read it almost every night for the last 14 years off and on but mostly on. I am always amazed and brought to tears as to how accurate the message is on any given day. I had a breif relationship with an addict that ended over 10 years ago but this book is the one true gift that I was given from that experience as it truly is ...

Courage After Fire: Coping Strategies for Troops Returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and Their Families 13 reviews Keith Armstrong, Suzanne Best, ...
Ulysses Press, 2005
Compelling and pragmatic As a disability service provider, I found this book particularly helpful. It is practical and to the point. Veterans can find tips on everything from how to sleep better to how to relax and cope with stressors. The triggers of anxiety are explained well, as are the ways veterans typically handle their pain. At the end of each chapter are helpful tips for family members. After I read it, I ordered ...

The Courage to Be 24 reviews Paul Tillich
Yale University Press, 2000
Surprised me by how much it spoke to my situation It seemed at the beginning that it would be too abstract. Too involved in a history of philosophy in its discussion of the Stoics. That Tillich was asserting too much, as if "ex cathedra". But even in the early chapters, I sensed something special and by the time I reached Chapter 4 ("Courage and Participation: The Courage to Be as a Part"), I began to feel the my current situation was being ...

The Red Badge of Courage 3 reviews Stephen Crane
Pocket, 2005
One of the great novels written about war I read this book in school as a kid and I recently picked it up and read it again. It is a short work and only takes a few hours to read through. The style is definitely of the 19th century and you need to read it slowly and carefully to understand the nuances of the description and inner dialogs. Taking the time to do so is vastly rewarding-this is truly a great psycho-historical novel.
The ...

Courage 8 reviews Bernard Waber
Houghton Mifflin/Walter Lorraine Books, 2002
The Many Faces Of Courage As Maya Angelou has said "One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential." If you agree with this philosophy, then you realize that courage, as character, must be fostered and developed.
Bernard Waber's book works so well because it shows young readers the many faces of courage. There are the obvious kinds -firefighters entering a burning building, mountain climbers ...

Why Courage Matters: The Way to a Braver Life 50 reviews John McCain, Marshall Salter
Ballantine Books, 2008
Courage to whip his supporters into patriotic frenzy Like everyone else who talks about him, I have the greatest respect for what McCain did for his country 40 years ago. He is a man of great honor and bravery and blah-di-blah-di-blah. He, and his equally bold running mate Sara Palin have shown great courage recently during their campaign rallies when they bravely spew their completely false yet necessary statements about Obama's un-American and ...

Just Read It (Just Courage)! This is one of the best books I've read this year. It is concise, well written, and challenging.
I bought multiple copies to help stir conversations about the 27 million in human tracking today.
I read the book in two days (literally)-- it was that good.
