Courageous Conversations About Race: A Field Guide for Achieving Equity in Schools5 reviews
Glenn Eric Singleton, Curtis Linton

Corwin Press, 2005

Truly a courageous book!
This is truly a courageous book! Richard Hernstein first broke Political Correctness's stranglehold on the discussion of race and educational achievement with his book The Bell Curve, and though that groundbreaking book was meticulously researched, the author suffered a hail of mindless political-inspired assaults. Now, the authors of this book have built on Hernstein's work, calling for ...

Clancy the Courageous Cow7 reviews

Greenwillow, 2007

Such a happy story!
I bought this book on the recommendation of a coworker whose 4-year-old memorized it in one week. Now my nephews, 8 and 10, read it to their new baby brother, and they all love it, particularly the wrestling parts. It has got a nice message about sharing and prejudice, but I don't think that "clogs" the story up - and certainly my nephews don't, either!

Alberto Villoldo

Courageous Dreaming-How Shamans Dream the World into Being- Alberto Villoldo PH.D
A wonderful book that teaches us how to rethink and become whole in mind, body, soul & spirit. It is very well written and gives exercises that causes your brain to lay the neural pathways for you to achieve success in your life. Courageous Faith: Life Lessons From Old Testament Heroes2 reviews
Edward E. Hindson

AMG Publishers, 2003

Enlightning - a must read for any Christian !
This was a required read for a college class, but has soon turned into one of my favorites. Dr. Hindson has a true God given talent to bring the beautiful stories and lessons of the Old Testament to life. His pure and easy word flow only adds to this treasure of a book.

Captains Courageous39 reviews
Rudyard Kipling

1st World Library - Literary Society, 2006

You really learn about working life in those times
This is still a great book for young readers (and old ones) who want to know what working life was really like for some in the eastern U.S. and Canada a hundred years ago. No picnic. The great thing is seeing it all in a gripping, often amazing, based-on-fact tale that centers on several teenaged boys who are part of a crew of a New England fishing boat. Death, mayhem, hardship, struggle, grim ...

Courageous Leadership30 reviews
Bill Hybels

Zondervan, 2002

"Hybels-Haters" need to read this. I think it would help them shut their mouths.
I have lived an hour south of Willow Creek most of my life. My father, a pastor, goes there almost weekly to get refreshed and then drives the hour home with new ideas from the Holy Spirit. We are both saddened by the vast numbers of people who criticize Hybels and Willow Creek without knowing their heartbeat or, suprisingly, even stepping foot on the churches main campus. Courageous ...

The Courageous Follower: Standing Up to and for Our Leaders (2nd Edition)6 reviews
Ira Chaleff

Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2003

I learned leadership principles by learning to be a follower
The Courageous Follower is one of the most important books on leadership I've ever read. It is clear that in one way or another, we ALL face the challenges of leadership, perhaps daily. However, it is rare that someone who has been designated a 'leader' considers that they are also a follower with a 'constinuency' - someone they answer to. This book discusses principles designed to encourage ...

Courageous Souls: Do We Plan Our Life Challenges Before Birth?57 reviews
Robert Schwartz

Whispering Winds Press, 2006

The Big Picture
Everything always makes sense when you can see the big picture. This book provides a glimpse into why events we perceive as "bad" happen, through a varied collection of individual cases. Our lives in this "reality" are just learning experiences, to expand our awareness of ourselves, we agreed to before we arrived on the planet.

Courageous Love (Courageous Studies for Women)5 reviews
Stacy Mitch

Emmaus Road Publishing, 1999

Enlightening!
I searched quite a bit for a bible study for women that would meet the needs of my Catholic faith. I first purchased this book for my own personal use. Each lesson builds on the prior lesson and includes scriptural passages and assigned readings. Each lesson is more thorough than I had thought, but not overwhelming or extraordinarily time consuming. Time is a critical factor for most ...

Grief's Courageous Journey: A Workbook1 review
Sandi Caplan, Gordon Lang

New Harbinger Publications, 1995

Nicely written, but small book
If you liked this book, also try "The Healing Journey Through Grief" by Phil Rich. This is a self help journaling book that will help you to understand, work through, and write about your bereavement. There are other books in the "Healing Journey" series too that are worth checking out. including books (all called "The Healing Journey" and all by Phil Rich and other co-authors) including a ...

Courageous Hearts (Collector's Series)4 reviews
Donna Hill

Kimani Press, 2006

Exceptional reading
All three stories are great! The love scenes in 'Scandalous' are off the chain, not freaky, buy very sexy and plentiful; I wish I was Vaughn! I stayed up all night reading 'Scandalous'. All the stories flowed well. The scenarios are great and the plots believable. Excellent work by Donna Hill. Well worth the read! You won't be disappointed!

Courageous (The Lost Fleet, Book 3)51 reviews
Jack Campbell

Ace, 2007

ruffled around the edges
Though extremly well written and graphically depicted beyond all expectations, i did find that much of what happens in the book must be simply accepted. For instance, HOW BIG are some of these ships, compared to actual objects, foot ball stadium? and is there artificial gravity or do they float around inside the ships. What's the propulsion system? does it have a name, is it gravity fed, ect, ...

Courageous Visions: How to Unleash Passionate Energy in Your Life and Your Organization12 reviews
Martha Lasley

Discover Press, 2004

Courageous Visions
This is a book which should be read, digested, and incorporated into the conciousness of just about every entrepreneur. If this was simply a motivational work it would still excel its peers. What makes Lasley's tome exceptional are the steps leading from one's passion to the execution of actually living one's vision. Unlike many self-help books this is a work for people who envision going ...

Girls Will Be Girls: Raising Confident and Courageous Daughters7 reviews
JoAnn Deak, Teresa Barker

Hyperion, 2003

Finally--Sensible Advice in Readable Form!
Those of us who are parents/relatives, educators, or mentors of girls have become increasingly aware of the difficulties that young women face as they mature from the stage of irrepressible confidence to the insecurities of adolescence and young adulthood. And while girls do walk a constant balance beam, tilting back and forth between doing and being too much or too little, the adults in their ...

Courageous Women (Courageous Studies for Women)2 reviews
Stacy Mitch

Emmaus Road Publishing, 2002

Timely, Inspirational, Fulfilling
We have now completed all three of Stacy Mitch's books in this series. Courageous Love, Courageous Virtue, and now Courageous Women. While we loved them all, this was hands down the favorite. With each story (eight in all) we were struck by how relevant the message of God's salvation is for us just as it was for these women of the Old and New Testament. They are filled with faith, virtue, they ...

The Courageous Corgi10 reviews
Lea Herrick

Cherokee Books, 2004

Courageous Corgi By Lea Herrick
The author is a distant relative, I was sent a copy, read it and loved it. My friend's grandson loves to read, so I bought him a copy for Christmas. A good read for any age if you love animals, especially dogs. Keep up the good work, Lea. Jodi B.
