6 Rainier Drive (Cedar Cove, Book 6) 35 reviews Debbie Macomber
Mira, 2006
6 Rainier Drive This is a series of books, that follow each other and mix with each other. I could not wait until each one came out. They were very good and if you have ever lived or visited Washington, it makes it that much more enjoyable. If you have never been there, you will feel you have after you finish the series. Love her Cedar Cove series!

Sit back and enjoy the wonderful little town of Cedar Cove. This is the fourth book in Deb Macomber's Cedar Cove series starts us in B&B with Bob and Peggy trying to solve the mystery of the murder of one of Bob's old war buddies. Much like all of Deb's books this fourth book is loaded with side plots and wonderfully developed characters. We're given the odd couple of story with the Griffins - a newly wed couple. Well, now that I think about it, most of ...

Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing 117 reviews Caroline Myss
Three Rivers Press, 1996
Hard Read This is a bit of a hard read to me. I have to read the pages over and over to understand the way this is written. I dunno...it's probably a good book if you can manage not to become bored in the beginning with trying to understand it.

8 Sandpiper Way (Cedar Cove, Book 8) Debbie Macomber
Mira, 2008
Dear Reader, I have something to confide in you. I think my husband, Dave, might be having an affair. I found an earring in his pocket, and it's not mine. I'm also worried because some jewelry was recently stolen from an old womanand Dave used to visit her a lot. You see, he's a pastor. And a good man. I can't believe he's guilty of anything, but why won't he tell me where he's been when he comes home so late? Reader, I'd love to hear what ...

Also you find you will be wanting more and so on until you have read the whole Cedar Grove series.
I just ordered 2 more.

My first Cedar Cove! 74 Seaside Avenue
It won't be my last either! At first I had trouble who was who etc. But after awhile I caught on and I couldn't put it down. I loved all the characters and I can't wait to get my hands on all the previous books and the newest one. Debbie writes with such a style that has you begging for more. Maybe it does seem a little too gossipy but I loved it and heck it was enjoyable. ...

The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove 108 reviews Christopher Moore
Harper Paperbacks, 2004
Christopher Moore The author hasn't written a bad book yet. Completely amusing and the characters are well developed as normal everyday people. Very relatable. If a regular person ended up in the situations the characters do, they would react the same. Lust Lizard is one of my favorites.

The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II 636 reviews Iris Chang
Penguin (Non-Classics), 1998
Shocking, Heartbreaking, but Necessary It astounds me that so few people know about the horrific events in China, and particularly Nanking, during WWII. This book can change that. No one can read the work without coming away with a new understanding of how easily human nature can be twisted to doing the unthinkable. Like the Nazis of Germany, the Japanese soldiers talked about in the work are people just like we are, but because of ...

Sure Fire Reference Eliot Wigginton made his students immortal when he sent them into the southern mountains to interview and record the skills and crafts of the region.

The Four-Fold Way: Walking the Paths of the Warrior, Teacher, Healer, and Visionary 12 reviews Angeles Arrien
HarperOne, 1993
Take time with this book. This aint no all-nighter. The exploration of archetypes and symbols within one's life is a powerful tool for self understanding, healing and growth. And so, this is a significant book in my life at least.
This book took a while to be effective in my case. It has become well-worn from being opened to certain pages over and over again. It is marked, folded, penned and penciled in many spots.
I had to go through just ...

These books get my son to read Having never read these books myself, I can only tell you how I feel about them as a parent.
I love them.
My son is reading again. When he was little, he used to love reading. But as he got older, he started hating it. Imagine my disappointment when, as a writer, my son doesn't like to read. Fortunately, it was just a matter of finding a subject matter that he liked. He loves playing the ...
