Making Miniature Food and Market Stalls13 reviews
Angie Scarr

Guild of Master Craftsman, 2001

A must-have for beginners and enthusiasts alike!
A great book! This book covers the basics of working with polymer clay, including mixing colors and which tools you'll need. It also shows you step-by-step, with words and pictures, how to create each project. And the best part: the finished food that *I make* by following the steps, looks REAL! Making miniature food is so much fun, thanks to this book!

Making Vintage Bags: 20 Original Sewing Patterns for Vintage Bags and Purses9 reviews
Emma Brennan

Guild of Master Craftsman, 2007

The book to have if you only have one
I have been making handbags and totes for years, and own many, many books and patterns on the subject, but I still learned new things from this book. It would be the one resource I would have if I could only have one. From the tools and techniques in this book, you could go on to make any kind of handbag. Curiously, I didn't buy this when it first came out because I don't like the looks of the ...

The Toolbox Book: A Craftsman's Guide to Tool Chests, Cabinets and Storage Systems (Craftsman's Guide to)17 reviews
Jim Tolpin

Taunton, 1995

One of My favorite books!!!
Tolpin is a refreshing change from the old bland how-to's that have been republished with outdated material year after year. This book is no exception. I love how the author takes you through the history and evolution of the toolbox. The color pictures are gorgeous.(Or maybe it's the toolboxes?) This is a must own for any tool lover. A great gift idea for that person you know with the messy shop!

Roof Cutter's Secrets to Framing the Custom Home8 reviews
Will L. Holladay

Craftsman Book Company, 2002

For advanced roof cutters
This book really helped me work through some issues I was having with cutting a complex roof. I don't know if I could have done it otherwise. Beginning framers would also benefit from the book as it offers some advice in that area as well. Be sure you get the Journal of Light Construction edition NOT the edition published by Craftsman Book Company. I don't think there is a better book for ...

The Real Taste of Jamaica19 reviews
Enid Donaldson, Ray Chen

Craftsman House, 1994

Great presentation and user friendly
I am Jamaican and know how to make some Jamaican dishes, but wanted to learn new recipes. I found this book to be very user friendly with recipes that are well known, as well as some lesser known ones. For the reviewer who said there isn't a recipe for oxtail, may I point you to page 101, right next to the one for curried goat.

Turning Green Wood6 reviews
Michael O'Donnell

Guild of Master Craftsman, 2000

Great book for anyone interested in turning
As a beginning turner, I searched for books that were both informative and interesting to read. This book approaches turning with 'green' in mind but also has some very good information about wood properties and turning in general. Very much worth buying even if you are an experienced turner.

The Unknown Craftsman5 reviews
Soetsu Yanagi

Kodansha America, 1980

An Aesthetics Bible!
Yanagi's words are so dense, packed, and rich with meaning. He has keen insights into what real 'seeing' is, and how necessary it is in discerning beauty. But Yanagi's words run beyond insight, and have some of that deep ring of eternal 'Truth' to them. I highly recommmend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about what true 'seeing' is, and how it relates to the perception of beauty.

Robert W. Lang

Fox Chapel Publishing, 2003

Very detailed book.
This book contains very good drawings of various craftsman details. Everything from front doors to various builtins. The author shows the historic details and how to recreate them with modern construction methods and materials. There are no color photos, but none are need for the type of book it is. I would love to have this author release a book on Craftsman Exteriors!!!!

Robert Burgess

Guild of Master Craftsman Publications, 1999

what an unusual and super book
how refreshing to find such an exquisite book on this very interesting subject. I made all the theatres and they were a joy to construct following the easy to understand directions. Carving Architectural Detail in Wood: The Classical Tradition5 reviews
Frederick Wilbur

Guild of Master Craftsman, 2001

Elegant work
This work is very descriptive in both word and picture of architectural detail. It demonstrates methods of calculating the plan or measuring the details to permit you to lay out elegant but traditional carving projects. It has been a wonderful source of learning for me and a guide to several carving motifs. The author is publishing a second book that I am anxious to see.

Celtic Cross Stitch Designs5 reviews
Carol Phillipson

Guild of Master Craftsman, 2000

A beautiful collection of celtic treasures
Carol Phillipson has put together a wonderful book full of craft ideas. Her patterns are based on many different examples of Celtic art. While you will find knotwork and other borders here, you'll also find animal forms, an illuminated alphabet and various unexpected designs taken from jewelry, manuscripts and stonework. Phillipson includes several ideas for the use of each pattern, as well as ...

Robert Venosa Illuminatus5 reviews
Robert Venosa

Craftsman House, 2000

Two masters meet to combine extraordinary talents.
ILLUMINATUS is an unprecedented publishing feat. "To make art is to draw even with the aspirations of divinity. To make art well is to call spirit into being. Magicians, like Venosa, know this." - Terence McKenna. Have you ever taken a journey to a "separate reality" via ayahuasca or magic mushrooms or some such sacrament and wish you could bring back a snapshot or reconstruct an image from ...

Contemporary Graphic Art in Poland3 reviews
Richard Noyce

Craftsman House, 1997

Excellent Overview of Polish Graphic Arts
I have both of Mr. Noyce's books covering Polish painting and graphic arts. They represent an excellent overview of current art in Poland. I lived in Poland for two years and purchased many pieces by artists represented in Noyce's books. The only flaw I found in this book is that there are so many additional artists who could have been included. I would have also liked to have seen more ...

Stickley Style: Arts and Crafts Homes in the Craftsman Tradition5 reviews
David Cathers

Simon & Schuster, 1999

It becomes the reference book for our house and my ...
woodworking projects. We moved in this Arts & Crafts house built in 1912 two years ago and started remodeling a bit by bit. Also my woodworking hobby has taken off along with the remodeling. The more we have done on the house, the more we like and the more we want to know about it. I have been in the stores looking at those expensive mission style furnitures and mimic the design on my own piece. ...

Contractor's Guide to Quickbooks Pro4 reviews
Karen Mitchell, Craig Savage, ...

Craftsman Book Co, 1998

Miracle Guide to construction accounting
I am a systems manager, and know nothing about accounting. However I did know that my husband's construction firm was not using QuickBooks Pro properly. Amazon's helpful search engine suggested that I might like Contractor's Guide to Quickbooks Pro 2002. Amazon sure was right. This book quickly and simply explained how to set up a construction company's accounts and helped me turn two years ...
