Created Equal: A History of the United States, Volume 2 (from 1865) (3rd Edition)1 review
Jacqueline Jones, Peter H. Wood, ...

Longman, 2008

Liberal Rag-DROP CLASS!!
I had to purchase this book for a college class or I would have promptly returned it. The liberal bias presented in this text, and the photos, is nothing short of shameful. The book stands as a testament to what is wrong with education today. While Presidents Ford, Reagan, and both Bushs are largely ignored, the Clintonistas are pictured throughout the text...gag me with a fork!

God Created the Integers: The Mathematical Breakthroughs that Changed History25 reviews
Stephen Hawking

Running Press, 2007

Forget the flaws. Enjoy it.
I just couldn't put this book down. I was so absorbed that I even missed my station and had to catch a train back. The biographies mixed with mathematical explanations and an outline of the significance of each work is brilliant. It gives one an insight into how context-dependent genius really is. I knew that the book had flaws because I read these reviews a while ago. But so what! You ...

Created for Commitment7 reviews
A. Wetherell Johnson

Tyndale House Publishers, 1982

Created for Commitment
This book is a great read. I found the life experiences of Miss Johnson fascinating. Her life was truly dedicated to God and the experiences she shares show how God weaves all the facets of our lives to work ALL things (good and bad) for the good of those who love Him. This book made me think BIG! I think we all focus too much on matters which don't have eternal importance. It also made me ...

Created to Be His Help Meet: Discover How God Can Make Your Marriage Glorious185 reviews
Debi Pearl

No Greater Joy Ministries, 2004

The best book on marriage I have ever read! However, there are a few things that are not entirely correct.
This is a life transforming book if you can take it. I am now 45 years old and have tried everything other than the Biblical approach described by Mrs. Pearl. I have found that God's way really does work best. I don't think I could have taken the viewpoint at other times in my life. I would have been very rebellious and found much wrong with her approach. However, I have prayerfully considered ...

Created by: Inside the Minds of Tv's Top Show Creators11 reviews
Steven Prigge

Silman-James Press, 2005

pleasantly suprised
Created By is NOT just another one of those "how to" books that show struggling writer's how to go from crashing on their friends couch in Hollywood, to magically landing into the writers room of a top-rated sitcom. This book offers a lot more than that. It has depth and substance. It is a journey into the minds of some of the greatest television writers of our time. Don't get me wrong, ...

Created for Work: Practical Insights for Young Men7 reviews
Bob Schultz

Great Expectations Book, 2006

Excellent guidance for boys -- and the rest of us.
Bob Schultz has done it again. Just as in his earlier book, Boyhood and Beyond, this book is full of short lessons taught with fitting and interesting stories from his own life. We've been using these books for family study, and we're all (male and female) getting a lot out of them. Bob Schultz writes as a humble, hard-working Christian who's using the special talents God gave him, including ...

Created to Learn: A Christian Teacher's Introduction to Educational Psychology4 reviews
William R. Yount

B&H Publishing Group, 1996

Thorough, versatile, distinctively Christian !
Dr. Yount's 'Created to Learn' is a distinctively Christian analysis as well as synthesis of the current trends in Educatinal Psychology and Theories of Learning. It is designed to reach both the Sunday School teachers who are frustrated because their efforts 'do not get through', as well as the Christian Educators who want to perfect or revolutionize their teaching skills. The textbook is well ...

Created to Be God's Friend: How God Shapes Those He Loves3 reviews
Henry Blackaby, 2005

God Wants to Be Your Friend, Not Your Enemy!
Blackaby's book is an excellent encouragement for those who desire a deeper relationship with God. Using the Biblical story of Abraham as a backdrop, Blackaby covers several principles of a closer relationship with God, including: 1. God's silences are opportunities for our faith to grow. 2. Many times a long period of time may take place between God's promise and its actual fulfillment. 3. ...

The World That Trade Created: Society, Culture, And the World Economy, 1400 to the Present (Sources and ...16 reviews
Kenneth Pomeranz, Steven Topik

M.E. Sharpe, 2005

Anxious
Reading this book just makes me exremely anxious... I don't know why.. Maybe its because it just talks about a bunch of stuff that I'm already aware of.. i would rather opt for an interesting story that shows this rather than a bunch of essays. However, if you're into trade and want to sharpen up your knowledge on it, this book is for you.

False Prophets: The Gurus Who Created Modern Management and Why Their Ideas Are Bad for Business Today9 reviews
James Hoopes

Basic Books, 2003

The Myth of the Democratic Workplace Exposed
Hoopes does an very good job deconstructing the neo-managment concept of a democratic workplace, contrasting it with the juxtaposition of top-down power in an ostensibly democratic society. If one believes that the US is a democratic society (it's not, it's a republic), then one might take umbrage with his not novel revelation that the workplace functions best in a top-down style. Americans, in ...

Created Equal: A History of the United States, Combined Volume (3rd Edition)1 review
Jacqueline Jones, Peter H. Wood, ...

Longman, 2008

What about the Gettysburg Address?
A gorgeously illustrated, eye-catching text that spans the prehistory and history of the region that we now call the United States. When I was growing up in the 1970s, we had several well regarded books on American history. Yet none had the profusion of colour illustrations on almost every page. Students using this as their first text will not notice it, but the book speaks to substantial ...

Created in Darkness by Troubled Americans: The Best of McSweeney's Humor Category16 reviews

Vintage, 2005

Cran-Pepper Hen Loaf, Spiced Saucetail, And Fleen
Overall this is an excellent book, with only a few disappointments, which are inevitable in a compendium of this nature. My favorite part of the book is at the end, and consists of humorous lists (my title comes from a list by Steven Tomsik, "Eleven Lunch Meats I Have Invented") of all varieties. McSweeney's is always a mixed bag, and this volume is no exception. Most of the material is very ...

Created For Worship4 reviews
Due, Noel

Christian Focus, 2005

A Breath of Fresh Air!
Dr. Due's work is both breathtaking and doxological! He skillfully leads the reader on a journey through the biblical narrative. Along the way, he insightfully point us to oft-neglected theological mile markers (an organic view of the church, a recovery of biblical eschatology) related to the subject of biblical worship. I found his recurring reflections on "false worship" (idolatry) as ...

Created for Great Things: Spiritual Writings by Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa

New City Press, 2008

Presents Mother Teresa's spiritual way, through an appealing collection of her own writings and a commentary by the editor. To all who knew her, personally or through the media, Mother Teresa of Calcutta embodied Jesus promise, Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me (Mt 2540). The works of mercy were her daily bread. This woman, who her contemporaries recognized as a ...

Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology Of The Body7 reviews
John Paul II

Pauline Books & Media, 2006

Outstanding!
I had an earlier edition of Theology of the Body and decided to replace it with this new translation with footnotes and an index. I am very glad I did. This book, and the many beautiful books and lectures that sprang from it by the likes of Dr. Janet Smith and Chris West, has changed my life and my marriage for the better. I LOVE the Church's teachings on marriage and the family. This book ...

Created from Animals: The Moral Implications of Darwinism (Oxford Paperbacks)6 reviews
James Rachels

Oxford University Press, USA, 1999

Created from Animals...and then some!
Rachels spends a good deal of time setting the intellectual and historical context in which Darwin's theory appears. He slowly but surely initiates the reader into the labyrinth of evolutionary theory with all the interesting characters such as Huxley and Wallace. The book is quite good, and lays out the argument of why one should look at non-human animals as of a different degree rather ...

Created in God's Image7 reviews
Anthony A. Hoekema

Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1994

An Excellent Treatment of a Difficult Topic
Anthony Hoekema's book, Created in God's Image, is the second of his trilogy - The Bible and the Future (1st), and Saved By Grace (3rd). I found this book very insightful; both in terms of making sense of various passages in the New and Old Testament, and along with adding meat for me to build a better understanding of what man's relation to God is, and what is man's relation to other persons, ...
