Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster 1471 reviews Jon Krakauer
Anchor, 1999
I couldn't put this book down! I saw the Frontline documentary "Storm over Everest" by David Brashears which features interviews with several of the individuals mentioned in the book. You definitely get two different perspectives when watching the documentary and reading this book, but both accounts are riveting. I found myself pulling for the characters throughout the book, and I was exhausted when I finished.

Precalculus (CliffsQuickReview) 2 reviews W. Michael Kelley
Cliffs Notes, 2004
Very Good Book I bought this book to help me with my Pre-Calculus work and found it v ery helpful, however it does come up a bit short in comparison to what is included in most of today's precalculus textbooks. I would say that 75-85% of my textbook was included in this book. What was included in the book was extremely helpful as a last minute test review which reflected on my test scores.

The Autoimmune Epidemic: Bodies Gone Haywire in a World Out of Balance--and the Cutting-Edge Science that ... 13 reviews Donna Jackson Nakazawa
Touchstone, 2008
Reading this book will open your eyes! Physicians, take note. In the forward to The Autoimmune Epidemic, Dr. Douglas Kerr, Director of the Johns Hopkins Transverse Myelitis Center, states reading this book is "a necessary first step," but rereading it "is a life-altering event." Be prepared, though, even a first pass through these well-written, meticulously researched pages will force you to look at the world around you in a totally different light.

Cutting Edge PowerPoint For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) 12 reviews Geetesh Bajaj
For Dummies, 2005
Excellent book, even if you are not a "dummy" The author of this book sent me a sample chapter to include at my website and I was so intrigued by it, I decided to read the whole book, and was very impressed.
Do yourself a favor and forget the "dummy" in the title. This book offers great insight into some of the not-so-obvious workarounds that can be used to get the most out of your presentations. So, it's not only helpful to people who ...

Plexi Class: Cutting-Edge Projects In Plastic 8 reviews
North Light Books, 2008
Get Ready for Something Totally Fantastic and New! Plexiglas in Jewelry and Craft Form! I am bowled over by the fascinating and beautiful projects offered in this book, Plexi Class, cutting-edge projects in plastic, by Tonia Davenport.
Because I like research and frequently check things out, I went over to a popular online sales site and typed in "Plexiglas jewelry". As opposed to the masses of pages of other types of jewelry which you can bring up if you do that when you type ...

johnny, The Mark of Chaos: An Urban Dark Fantasy (The Chaos Dragon Dark Fantasy / Horror Series) 3 reviews Susan D Kalior
Blue Wing Publications, Workshops, and Lectures, 2008
Amazing book! Susan D. Kalior is one of the most talented writers around. I got completely lost in the book and couldn't put it down! The book has a cleverly weaved plot and the characters are well written. There is suspense throughout the entire book. I found myself laughing and crying as I followed the characters on their journey. I eagerly await the 2nd book in this series!

The Trouble With Physics: The Rise of String Theory, the Fall of a Science, and What Comes Next 93 reviews Lee Smolin
Houghton Mifflin, 2006
A Bracing Read! The human mind suspended in unfathomable mystery is inevitably entangled in its webs of reason.
To illustrate: In his discussion of symmetry breaking (Chapter 4), Smolin states that "Much of the structure of the world, both social and physical, is a consequence of the requirement that the world, in its actuality, break symmetries present in the space of possibilities. An important feature of ...

Renaissance Books, 2000
Saved My Life I got several books, videos and audio tapes from Serge Kahili King but his "instant healing" , which I have labelled "it never happened" technique - saved my life several years ago, when half of my face became paralyzed and when doctors told me that I'll just have to accept it and that it may even get worse over time.
The paralysis was bad enough that I couldn't even speak coherently (I'd ...

The End of Time: The Next Revolution in Physics 45 reviews Julian Barbour
Oxford University Press, USA, 2001
Just an illusion? Barbour's thesis is that time is an illusion, and doesn't really exist. According to Barbour, the universe is a timeless thing existing in configuration space; it doesn't "move through time," but rather exists as an infinitely dimensioned manifold (my word, not his, and I may not have accurately captured his meaning) in configuration space, where each point on the manifold represents the ...

Drawing Cutting Edge Fusion: American Comics with a Manga Influence 11 reviews Christopher Hart

Good book This is the better of the Hart books: good solid information into a genre of comics/animation full of mis-conceptions.
I personally think Fusion style marries the best of these two styles. Anyone wanted to create a comic would be wise to adopt THIS style and make it your own.
As with most of the Chris Hart books the sections on who how construct panels and tell stories w/ pictures is ...
