More Practical Concepts, Less Psychology
While I don't own a physical copy of this book, I had used an electronic form of it in the course of my studies. I will first forewarn those who are interested in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) that this text does not heavily focus on the science of Psychological principles such as Gestalt Perception, nor does it concern itself with techniques/methodologies such as Threading and ...

Great Overview on Qualitative Research
If you are in graduate school and decide to do your thesis as a qualitative research project, I would highly recommend this book. Even though the authors describe what qualitative research is, I would recommend that you read one of the texts they mention for the individual techniques. For example, even though it has a nice overview of case study, one should read Yin's book on case study research.

All the advantages and disadvantages of statistical reasoning applied to qualitative political science
This book takes the basic logic of statistical inference and applies it to qualitative research design in political science. As several reviewers note, it is not a book on statistics, nor indeed does it pretend to be. However, it extends the logic of statistical research design into nonquantitative research. That much it does very well. By thinking about how to test hypotheses and how to ...

Very thorough with great examples
I used this book for a graphic design course that I'm taking and it was very informative as well as thorough. It was interesting to read about all of the brand identities and how logos really affect the way a company is viewed. I like the detail, the graphics and the comparisons for the different logos. This helped me in developing a good design for my project.

One of the Best Textbooks for Basic ID
I have used this text in several editions, both as a reference in my work as an Instructional Developer and as a one of several suggested ID texts I've used in teaching this subject. It is one of the most comprehensive basic texts for the entire ID process, providing information not available in other more simplified texts. For this reason, you do not tend to read it as you would a novel. You ...

Good Review and Teaching Tool
This book offers a good review of the basics of stage lighting and design including information about the procedures that go into doing theatre lighting. This book also supplies more current information about projection and automated fixtures. Also, my boyfriend is the lighting designer of the show featured on the cover. Pretty cool. This is a great book and I know of many lighting design ...

Aimed at the competitive brewer
This book is best regarded as a recipe guide for the competitive brewer. While the styles presented are regrettably limited, the styles that are presented are wonderful. There are very helpful comments on each style ...

I want my whole team to read this!!
I love this book for it's brevity, clarity and simplicity. While everything in this book is obvious and common sense, it is still amazingly useful. You should not underestimate your minds ability to ignore and distort such obvious things, especially when we are emotionally invested in the product. Reading this book is helpful when starting or reviewing a product.

One of the Best Books on the Topic
This is one of the best books on its topic that I have ever seen. From the title, I expected to find advice on preparing images for the screen, how to put them on a CD or DVD, etc. Those things are there, but the book begins in a logical place that I wouldn't have considered. Brown's approach is truly holistic. Check out page 23 for the first page of a three-page self assessment check list. It ...

No other book in the field of HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) is as broad, has so many useful guidelines and is a better bibliography as Shneiderman DTUI (Designing the User Interface). DTUI will *not* give you in-depth knowledge of every aspect of HCI, because that's an impossible task for a single book. Instead, DTUI focuses on giving you an overview and understanding of central HCI ...

This is a scholarly presentation of a difficult subject.
I continue to select this text for a graduate course in advanced experimental design. The book is not easy, and that is one reason why I like it. It presents a thoughtful scholarship on controversial issues pertaining to the use of inferential statistics as a tool to assist the researcher in making decisions about the validity and strength of functional relationships present in the data.
