An Absolute TREASURE
After having read HOW TO DEVELOP SELF-CONFIDENCE & INFLUENCE PEOPLE by PUBLIC SPEAKING by Dale Carnegie, I genuinely feel compelled to write a brief review. First, I found this book to be useful and pratical. The author provides general principles regarding how to develop self-confidence and improve one's speaking peformance, then provides an illustration of that principle. In other ...

I Only Give 5 Stars for One Reason
I usually don't read really "junky" books and give 3 stars for "bland" books. Most of the books I like rate 4 stars . . . BUT . . . a handful of truly life changing books deserve 5 stars. My whole criteria for 5 stars is simple, "Will you come back from reading this book a changed person? And if you do, will the lessons learned last?" Glance quickly through the reviews on this book. Many ...

IEP GOALS
This book should be required reading for every parent who has a child on an IEP. Assessment generates services and IEP goals, and goals inform the parent whether the services are remediating the child. Schools must follow the Law (IDEA) on how to write goals, yet, poorly written IEP goals is one of the biggest non-compliance areas. If a child's progress can not be objectively measured by ...

Review: Seigler --- How Children Develop, First Edition
I teach child psychology with this book, at a college. The book is topically arranged (not chronologically arranged), and, overall, the writing is excellent. Two chapters (Ch 12: The Family) and Ch. 13 (Peers) are not taught in my course; instead, students do chapter tests on those two for extra credit. The Instructor's Test Bank by Jill Saxon is mediocre, but was greatly improved for the Second ...

Strongly recommended! A process for leading and for life
This is a great book. I've read the other two books by McKee and Boyatzis, and this takes the core ideas around hope and compassion and makes them more concrete for the leader. I was surprised by how inspired I became from actually doing the exercises. I feel grounded and clearer about what I want from my work, and from life. Strongly recommended.

Great book on Sales Personalities
I had read an article quoting the authors in Business 2.0 (December 2001- "Gods of Sales") this month and it perked my curiosity. After reading some of the digital copy here at Amazon I ordered it. They did a really great job breaking down the traits that make up a sales persons personality. I also like how they match up the sales job with the right employee. The sections on finding sales ...

Beware teachers, only read this book if you are ready to dive deeper into what it means to teach writing, as a writer! This is the first book I've read that explicitly breaks down how to use mentor texts and my own writing to support student learning in a writer's workshop. Katie Wood Ray uses wonderful examples of how to write and read like a teacher of writing. The first part of the book ...

I could not put this book down! It can transform your prayer life. Full of Scripture verses to encourage a deeper prayer life and walk with Christ. The author gives step by step instructions and helpful advice on how to be an intercessor and effective prayer warrior and most of all how to adequately praise God in a way He is so deserving of. I highly recommend it!

Nice book about developing a relationship with the Lord
I've read a lot of books but not a lot of " how to" books on having a relationship with the Lord. I liked this book very much because it was well organized and gave a lot of detailed info. Always backing up with scripture. Everyone talks about having a relationship but there are a few that actually show you how. Of course everyones relationship with God is unique- but this book helps you get ...
