Review: Seigler --- How Children Develop, First Edition
I teach child psychology with this book, at a college. The book is topically arranged (not chronologically arranged), and, overall, the writing is excellent. Two chapters (Ch 12: The Family) and Ch. 13 (Peers) are not taught in my course; instead, students do chapter tests on those two for extra credit. The Instructor's Test Bank by Jill Saxon is mediocre, but was greatly improved for the Second ...

Terrific book
I find this book a terrific read. Not just once but over and over. If you really want to understand the science behind how a baby's brain works and what you can do to shape it, THIS is the book. If you are a parent, it gives you the science behind raising a baby. If you are an expectant parent, this book is great preparation. The only downside as i see it, is that while the book says "First ...

Fantastic Find!
I received this book last Christmas from my husband as an accompaniment to my new camera. Although I had read several books on photography the previous year, none inspired me quite as much as this one! I read the book quickly because it was well written in simple terms that just made sense. Later I went back and read each chapter more in depth to try to solidify the principles in my mind. And ...

How to create a portfolio: book
This book I needed badly. Once I bought it I contacted the seller, and the book was in my hands the following day. My experience was awesome, I highly recommend this seller, because he was responsible and serious to the most. Ah! and the conditions of the book were unexpected.

The saying what you don't know could hurt you is true.
I do a fair amount of public speaking and just dealing with people. When you know what you want to say and are able to say it confidently and with conviction it makes a big difference in the way it is received.

A must read for beginners
I purchased this book for my wife who kept hounding me about getting into the stock market. I told her that she should learn as much as possible before investing. I have formal training in personal finance, and I wound up reading the book myself. It has great information to get you started.

Enlightening Perspective on Identifying Ones Talents
I personally enjoyed the book and found it to be a refreshing outlook on the talents from within. Usually when completing assessments such as these there are few if any that truly focus on ones talents. Basically the unique skills and habits in which we as individuals already possess. In Strengths Quest, the authors do so, which makes for not only an interesting read but an interesting ...

This book is well written and makes understanding the IEP and it's implications for teachers and parents simple. It's well organized and explains the legal implications if the correct sequence of steps to develop the IEP are not followed. More importantly, if the correct sequence of steps are followed, the IEP will be much more effective.

Unleash the Warrior Within
Said simply, its awesome. Mack relates military stratagies and techniques to our everyday lives, and gives us stratagies to improve ourselves in whichever ways we should improve. Since nobody's perfect, everbody should read this book; however, its an extra special treat for those of us who are already sheepdogs and understand the talking points.

Strongly recommended! A process for leading and for life
This is a great book. I've read the other two books by McKee and Boyatzis, and this takes the core ideas around hope and compassion and makes them more concrete for the leader. I was surprised by how inspired I became from actually doing the exercises. I feel grounded and clearer about what I want from my work, and from life. Strongly recommended.

How people become addicted; how they recover.
This book, based upon the Prochaska and Norcross model of "stages of change" is a vital resource for the chemical dependency/abuse counselor, or anyone else who works with this population. The authors clearly delineate how a person becomes addicted (using the stages of change model- except in reverse), then moving on to the process of recovery. Contrary to an earlier review, I did not ...

Most useful requirements book I own
Our local IIBA chapter was giving this book out for a door prize a few years ago, when I was just starting my BA career. I had the opportunity to peruse it at the meeting and ordered it the next day. Since then, I have acquired an impressive library of requirements-related books, but this is the single most useful and USED resource I own. The title almost diminishes how detailed and helpful ...
