Textbook of Physical Diagnosis: History and Examination With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access (Textbook of ... 15 reviews Mark H. Swartz
Saunders, 2005
Better than Bates! Im disappointed that I did not have this book sooner in my student career. For the last 2 years we have been using Bates and quite frankly Bates is okay for the most part but it leaves out details as to why the test is done.
The pictures are better in Swartz. There are sections on differential diags and pathophysiology with each test. This is an amazing textbook.
I found out about this ...

Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care (Nursing Diagnosis Handbook) 15 reviews Betty J. Ackley, Gail B. Ladwig
Mosby, 2007
Don't go to nursing school without it! I have the 7th edition which was in our required book list for school. It is one of the only books I have used every semester, and I'm sure I'll use it in this last semester. I couldn't have done my evidence based papers or nursing care plans without it.

Nursing Diagnosis: Application to Clinical Practice (Point (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins)) 12 reviews Lynda Juall Carpenito-Moyet
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007
Diamond in the rough This book looks daunting at first encounter. Each page is crammed with valuable information which sometimes overwhelms the reader. But this is exactly why this book is a gem for me. Other readers find it difficult to follow because they missed the fly leaf which lists all the nursing diagnosis with its corresponding page numbers. In my experience, in order to get the maximum use of this book, go ...

Psychoanalytic Diagnosis: Understanding Personality Structure in the Clinical Process 16 reviews Nancy McWilliams
The Guilford Press, 1994
A New Level of Understanding Briefly, this book has given me a new level of understanding of my clients -- sadly one I never got in my cognitive-behavioral oriented graduate school. There is a richness and depth that, in my experience, is astonishing to find in one author. E.g., I had little clue to what goes on in the mind and heart of someone with a diagnosis antisocial/psychopathic personality, or how one could reach ...

Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A Guide to Planning Care 38 reviews Betty J. Ackley, Gail B. Ladwig
Mosby, 2005
The only care plan book you'll need! After receiving a recent email asking me which care plan book I'd recommend to a nursing student who was staying up very late working on her care plans, I told her I'd write a review of the book that was my best friend on the night before clinicals. This is it.
I had two care plan books that were not working for me so I spent about 8 hours one weekend in Barnes and Nobles looking through ...

Mosby's Guide to Nursing Diagnosis 3 reviews Gail B. Ladwig, Betty J. Ackley
Mosby, 2007
A must-have reference for nursing clinicals! I already had the "larger" Ackley's when we were told this was a required book. I was skeptical that it would be more helpful than the large version, but it is so quick and handy, not to mention that you can tote it in a lab coat pocket or your purse. It's like "Cliff's Notes" to nursing diagnoses and care plans. I highly recommend it.

Mosby, 2007
Could not be better This is the finest text a pediatrician can own for daily practice, board brush up and companion to the standard textbooks. It can fill many gaps inherent in the nature of pediatric training and is eminently relevant. If the authors never pen another things, they can be forever proud of this work. Brava.

Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine 11 reviews Giovanni Maciocia
Eastland Press, 1995
Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine I really believe this book is excellent for those TCM students that are of intermediate level(For beginers buy The Web That has No Weaver). Maciocia's book, I find is very common in Accupunture schools along with his book on pulse diagnosis. If the student understands basic TCM concepts and wants to expand his/her knowledge, whether a TCM student or a student in another type of Complementary ...

Diagnosis Made Easier: Principles and Techniques for Mental Health Clinicians 4 reviews James Morrison
The Guilford Press, 2006
Wonderful Book 1. What makes James Morrison's books special to me
James Morrison has a wonderful quality: He is precise without losing his warmth. From graduate school (I have an M.A. in Psychology), I know the following dilemma: Nobody wanted to make a diagnosis of a patient (and wanted even less to be diagnosed!), because it felt like "putting people in boxes" or "being judgmental"; people were afraid the ...

A great resource for the novice or experienced NP! Although the initial chapter on Clinical Reasoning and Differential Diagnosis is limited, it is a concisely written prelude to a wealth of focused symptom assessment strategies. As a practitioner and a faculty member in a nurse practitioner program, I have found this book to be an excellent teaching resource. Each chapter contains several of the most common symptoms related to a specific body ...
