Big Box of Boynton: Barnyard Dance! Pajama Time! Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs!26 reviews
Sandra Boynton

Workman Publishing Company, 2005

Big Box of Boynton and Boynton's Greatest Hits
My 18mth yr old granddaughter and 2.5yr old grandson are delighted with these new books. Reading along with them is like 'Rock 'n Read' - the only thing missing is the music to sing along to these delightful rhyming stories. The children just love to look at the books alone and express their delight and interest.

Encyclopedia Prehistorica Dinosaurs: The Definitive Pop-Up146 reviews

Candlewick, 2005

Just what every pre-historic buff loves!
In selecting this book for a young boy who simply adores anything dinosaur, I felt it was something he would really like. I underestimated his reaction. He was simply thrilled and he especially liked the several smaller pop-ups located in each page's corners. It was defintiely a winner as far as he was concerned.

Good book!
My daughter's daycare reads these books to her, so I bought one for home. She loves it! I think the book teaches good lessons in a fun way.

Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters27 reviews
Donald R. Prothero

Columbia University Press, 2007

Outstanding
This is a terrific book, well organized, thorough, and generally accessible, even to laymen. The first few chapters lay out the basic framework: essential concepts in the philosophy of science (i.e., what makes science "science" in the first place; illustrative incidents in the history of the dispute between science and creationism; basic geology, including some fascinating examples of ...

How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?121 reviews
Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2000

Look closely, most of the dinosaurs have pets!
This is my toddler's favorite of the series. It is the usual whimsical style with beautifully detailed illustrations. We just discovered after many readings that there is a pet on most pages. My toddler loves to look for the dinosaurs' pets as we turn the pages. A refreshing bedtime story.

How to Be a Friend: A Guide to Making Friends and Keeping Them (Dino Life Guides for Families)17 reviews
Laurie Krasny Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2001

Fun and a great teaching tool
How to be a friend is such a nice book. It is like an instruction manual for kids who have difficulties making friends. It shows what is acceptable and what others find attractive in a friend. It tells directly what is annoying or inappropriate. I read this to my entire class, which consists of general education students and children on the autism spectrum (Asberger). I used it early in the ...

Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Books 1-4: Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning, and ...92 reviews
Mary Pope Osborne

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

great for the imagination
I bought the set as a gift for my nephew, whom is in second grade. Hoping to spark his interest in reading. The Magic Tree House books were the first books that grabbed my own sons interested when he began reading. He would devour a book in a couple of days and couldn't wait to began a new one. His imagination would grow as he traveled along with Jack and Annie on one fictional adventure ...

Roger Priddy

Priddy Books, 2004

Cool dinosaur pictures
My 3-year-son started to get interested in dinosaur a few months ago. I bought this book for him so that he can see there are many kinds of dinosaurs, and we have a lot of fun looking at these pictures together.

How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?21 reviews
Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2004

Lives up to the standard set by the bigger books
The full-size "How Do Dinosaurs..." books (Eat Their Food, Go To Bed, Get Well Soon, Go To School) are wonderful and fun, and this book follows in that mold. The story doesn't seem much shorter than in the bigger books, and has the same great rhyming cadence even though the words are more than the usual one-syllable words. It is fun for parents to read as well as children! The ...

John's Jurassic Park Review
In 1989 Isla Nubar (an island off the coast of Costa Rica) was purchased to house dinosaurs in an attraction park which sounds like a good idea to me. This conclusion is determined with some over sight though. What if there was catastrophic system failure? What if some of the dinosaurs were extremely dangerous and much smarter than expected? These problems are adressed in Jurassic Park a ...

How Do Dinosaurs Go To School? (How Do Dinosaurs...)17 reviews
Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2007

My son's favorite!
My son loves this series. We got them when he was 2 and he isn't a big dinosaur fan, but he loves to read them every night. He likes Goodnight & Eat Their Food better because he's not in school yet, but he loves them all. I like them too. His other fave is the David books, and I get tired of reading those, but I still enjoy reading these. I love that these books teach him what not to do.

Big Book of Dinosaurs21 reviews
DK Publishing

DK CHILDREN, 1994

My son really liked it
I bought this book for my 4 year old... he collects every book we find about dinosaurs. He loved it. He takes it with him everywhere and it is the front book in his Dino-library. It is a bit thin, but the pictures are great and have really inspired him. I highly recomend it.

Danny and the Dinosaur27 reviews

HarperTrophy, 1992

Childhood memories...
Maybe I am just going on childhood memories, but after all the Disney books (Snow White, Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio), Danny and the Dinosaur was my favorite book. I remembered it after twenty years... so it must have made an impact. The letters were big, but it wasn't simple like "See Jane run. See Dick run. See Jane and Dick run." It was a very simple book with a simple plot -- and now I have ...

This is one book you can not put down. It is fast paced and a great read. I had to order the rest of his books just to see if he will be a great writer as I believe he will be.

Time Spike14 reviews
Eric Flint, Marilyn Kosmatka

Baen, 2008

Good read!
This is a fun, and quick, summer read. It returns to the 1632-verse, in the sense that we learn more about the causes. But in this case a max prison (Marion?), Cherokees, De Soto and Mound builders all get put into the Cretaceous. Complications ensue, but we also see a present-day group trying to discover what these "removals" are all about. The book had an unusual number of typos, and even a ...

The Magic School Bus in the Time of the Dinosaurs14 reviews
Joanna Cole

Scholastic Press, 1995

My 3 year old loves it
When we first received the book, my husband said - this is way too advanced for our son - too much text. But maybe because he finds dinosaurs fascinating, he's been engrossed by it. All these new facts about dinosaurs have him very interested. He doesn't get some of it, but he's grow into it I am sure!

Dinosaurs Before Dark (Magic Tree House, No. 1)76 reviews

Dinosaurs Before Dark
My sister gave my five year old daughter the first four books of the Magic Tree House series. We read the first book "Dinosaurs Before Dark" last night together and loved it. While some of the reviews are written negatively, referring to the simplicity of the story and lack of depth of the characters and the plot, I feel the simplicity is what makes it popular with the target age group. My ...
