Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2004

we love the dinosaurs! :D
I bought all of the Jane Yolen books I could find in here and had them shipped to my daughter for my grandchildren. She said that they are helping a lot and that the kids love them...and the kids told me they LOVE dinosaurs over the phone! :D The three year old is autistic and had a meltdown if anyone cleaned her room or moved anything...now, with the help of this book...she cleans it up with ...

My Big Dinosaur Book (My Big Board Books)14 reviews
Roger Priddy

Priddy Books, 2004

Great Kids Dino Book
My son loves Dinosaurs and this book is perfect for him. It has several different types of Dinos with very simple questions for the little ones. He knows all the Dinos in the book and he likes to read it several times a day. In my opinion this book is good for pre-schoolers. Great addition to our Dino book collection.

The Big Book of Dinosaurs (Big Books)21 reviews
Angela Wilkes

Dorling Kindersley Publishers Ltd, 1994

My son really liked it
I bought this book for my 4 year old... he collects every book we find about dinosaurs. He loved it. He takes it with him everywhere and it is the front book in his Dino-library. It is a bit thin, but the pictures are great and have really inspired him. I highly recomend it.

How Do Dinosaurs Go To School? (How Do Dinosaurs...)16 reviews
Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2007

My son's favorite!
My son loves this series. We got them when he was 2 and he isn't a big dinosaur fan, but he loves to read them every night. He likes Goodnight & Eat Their Food better because he's not in school yet, but he loves them all. I like them too. His other fave is the David books, and I get tired of reading those, but I still enjoy reading these. I love that these books teach him what not to do.

Danny and the Dinosaur27 reviews

HarperTrophy, 1992

Childhood memories...
Maybe I am just going on childhood memories, but after all the Disney books (Snow White, Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio), Danny and the Dinosaur was my favorite book. I remembered it after twenty years... so it must have made an impact. The letters were big, but it wasn't simple like "See Jane run. See Dick run. See Jane and Dick run." It was a very simple book with a simple plot -- and now I have ...

Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2006

Fun story & teaches too!
This is a great addition to the series. It takes kids through what not to do and then teaches them in the How Do Dinosaurs sing song story about what to do to play well with friends.

Dinosaurs: The Most Complete, Up-to-Date Encyclopedia for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages14 reviews
Thomas R. Jr Dr Holtz

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2007

A very good overview of the subject
This is a very good overview of the subject of dinosaurs for the lay person. It covers the systematics of the subject with good descriptions of each grouping and the morphological characters that distinguish them. Most of all it conveys to the reader the breadth of the group and how diverse dinosaurs are; they're not just giant predators and plodding plant-eating monsters, but that they ...

How Do Dinosaurs Learn Their Colors10 reviews
Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2006

Great present for 3 yr old.
I gave this to my nephew who just turned 3. He and all his cousins are into Dinosaurs right now, so he loves the book. His mom was happy, cause all the other books he has on Dinosaurs are reference style books and to old for him. She says it is great that there is so many books in this series. She used to have to look at the same book over and over again making up a story to go along with the ...

If Dinosaurs Were Alive Today1 review

Running Press Kids, 2007

Amazing and Astonishing
My six-year old girl LOVES dinosaurs, so we got her this book for Christmas this year (2007). She loves this book and so do I! The graphics are incredible and make you think that the Orca is really about to get eaten! Then there is the brachiosaurus tromping through the herd of elephants at the waterhole. Page after page the dinos are put with their modern-day equivalents, and a sidebar tells you ...

Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp21 reviews
Carol Diggory Shields

Candlewick, 2008

Great fun to read
A good picture book to read to a 9-month old who doesn't want to sit still is hard to find, but this book is fantastic. The book just reads so fluently like you can't keep up with turning the pages!! Both the words and the pictures are so lively, bright and fun ... it totally absorbs you into the dinosaur stomp:-)

When Dinosaurs Came with Everything (Junior Library Guild Selection)5 reviews
Elise Broach

Atheneum, 2007

Cute concept, well executed
Very cute concept: instead of the usual little giveaways at stores (cookie, lollipop, etc) on this day, everyone is giving away dinosaurs! The kids are really excited about this, the moms not so much (until the end...). The pictures are great - the dinosaurs look realistic, but friendly. Both my kids (boy, 4 and girl, 6) love this book... and so do I!

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: An American Roadhouse47 reviews
John Stage, Nancy Radke

Ten Speed Press, 2001

A Good Substitute for the Restaurant
My husband and I used to go to Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse when I was in graduate school there. It's one of the only things I miss about Syracuse. We were given a copy of the cookbook as a wedding gift, and have made many recipes from it; all of them have been wickedly tasty, and there is not a single one I would not make again. Our particular favorites are the mojito marinade, the cornbread, the ...

Awesome for kids and adults
We bought this for my five year old nephew who LOVES dinosaurs. He can read pretty well on his own and has enjoyed flipping through this book, reading and looking at the pictures. My husband also thought this book was awesome and wished he had had more time before Christmas to read this book before wrapping it up for our nephew!

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1992

Reviews From 4 of my Second Grade Students (What's better that reviews from the kids themselves!)
Several of my second graders read this book, then wrote and typed their own book reviews. Enjoy! Sara---4 stars I like Annie because she is always ready when danger is near. I like Jack because he always has ideas. I like when Annie petted the Pteranodon and said it felt like Henry. I like that there is a lot of adventure. I liked the part when Jack told Annie "promise you won't kiss it, ...

When Dinosaurs Die: A Guide to Understanding Death (Dino Life Guides for Families)25 reviews
Laurie Krasny Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 1998

Excellent resource
I want to put in a strong vote of confidence for this book, even though some parents have found it too much, too soon. My dad died when my oldest daughter was not quite three; my mom, when she was not quite four. This book was an enormous help in explaining to her what had happened, putting it in terms that were both straightforward and manageable. Kids want to know the facts, because the ...
