This book gave me hope!
I recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed or thinks they may have MVP. Lyn Fredrickson takes a rational approach and gives practical, medically sound advice for the person with MVP. After reading this book, I knew I was not dying, and I wasn't crazy. Ms. Fredrickson assured me my symptoms were real, and gave me hope for a life unchained from those symptoms. Don't pay any attention to ...

Composite Beams in Bending
Well, I have lots of book and this is one of the books I have in my bookshelf. Obviously I have not read the entire book but I did of course read pages from 302 to 309. I was particularly interested in Composite Beams in Bending and those 7 pages did help me. I am not sure if there were any errors in the mathematical calculations as noted by some earlier reviewer but these 7 pages looked okay ...

Excellent resource
I bought this book a few years ago after being diagnosed with MVP. I read the personal stories and felt great sympathy for the people who were experiencing so many symptoms which I didn't have. However, in the past two years, I have experienced many new symptoms and this book has been so reassuring and helpful in giving me ideas about how to control them. I have found Dr. Scordo to have much ...

High Acclaim for Beyond Homelessness
"The nineteenth century found its essential mythological resources in the second principle of thermaldynamics- The present epoch will perhaps be above all the epoch of space," "Of Other Spaces," Michel Foucault, 1967. We have found, I believe, Foucault to be right. We have entered an age in which "place studies" have emerged as the hot field in philosophy, architecture, geography, economics, ...

good introduction to measurement
Much of the engineering curriculum is devoted to analytical techniques for solving particular problems, often derived mathematically from first principles. However, without grounding results within the physical realm, solutions may neglect factors that do not neatly fit into the assumptions used. Thus, measurement of phenomena are needed. But what constitutes a valid measurement? Holman ...

An important book whose author was denied tenure by Harvard
As the 1997-8 academic year starts, Bonnie Honig is no longer at Harvard. She is now a tenured professor of political theory at Northwestern University. This is the sad end of a story that made national headlines in the spring of 1997: Despite being recommended by both her department and an external review board, Harvard's President, Neil Rudenstine, decided not to extend Assosicate Profeesor ...

Great Concept.
The authors have a fantastic concept with the PPA. It is well thought out and well researched. I think for fire departments in the north east that are unfortunatly forced to use 3 firefighters on an engine company the concept is just that. The engine company I am assigned to would love to be able to affect a quick attack as described in this book but we just do not have the manpower to do so. The ...

Memory, Language, and Imagination
A fabulous book about how communication. If it was read by tech writers, I think a lot of tech writing (as well as legal) would be infinitely better. At the root of many of the ideas is how we hear and process things in our brain - it may not be "real" linguistics (although the author is a linguist) but it's really useful.
