Love, love, love this series
This, the third of Milagro's adventures, continues the clever, witty, and fast moving saga. I never know what is coming but do know that it will be interesting. Milagro is one saucy woman who deals with livf as it comes. She expresses a myriad of emotions from joy to sorrow. The characters who join in her adventures are complex and so real though not necessarily alive. Did I say I love ...

Bram Stoker's Dracula: A Parable For Our Times
Book Groups of America, put down your Oprah choices, your Eat, Pray, and Love drivel, your watered elephants, and read Bram Stoker's Dracula. I wanted to read some long books before my book-a-day project begins and Dracula was on the list of recommended must-reads. My son's English teacher was right, everyone should read this book. I finished Dracula last night after midnight. WIth a ...

"Dracula" was not the first vampire novel, nor was it Bram Stoker's first book. But after years of research, Stoker managed to craft the ultimate vampire novel, which has spawned countless movies, spinoffs, and books that follow the blueprint of the Transylvanian count. Real estate agent Jonathan Harker arrives in Transylvania, to arrange a London house sale to Count Dracula. But as the days ...

A True Classic
Bram Stoker's influential late-Victorian novel remains a dominant presence in the realm of horror and vampire literature. While some modern readers may have difficulty with the late 19th-century writing style, the novel itself is a rewarding experience for anyone willing to consider the work, and the use of language should not be held against its brilliance. Though not the first word in ...

This is no Vampire Story and that's Good
Imagine finding Bram Stoker's journal. Imagine that it was written years before he wrote "Dracula" and imagine that that very scary vampire story was based partly on his run in with Jack the Ripper. Now there you'd have a story that would be fun to read and you can, because that's exactly what James Reese has done with THE DRACULA DOSSIER. I admit I expected a vampire story when I ordered this ...

An old fashioned tale that doesn't offend
Bram Stoker's "Dracula" was first published in 1897, and as one reads this work, it is overwhelmingly apparent that it was written during a time when morals and virtues were held in a much higher regard than they are today. The book is comprised primarily of various journal entries from six main characters. Two of these main characters are remarkable women, possessed of lofty talent and high ...

Beautifully put together 'sequel' to Dracula!
"Dracula's Heir" is an unusual book in that it is an interactive thriller. Readers are treated to a set of clues in various forms [photo, documents, notes, passages from books, letters, etc] that enable us to solve the mystery in the book. The story begins with an American attorney named Jon Kelso who is asked to peruse some private papers belonging to the deceased Lady Chaise Godalming ...

"Dracula" was not the first vampire novel, nor was it Bram Stoker's first book. But after years of research, Stoker managed to craft the ultimate vampire novel, which has spawned countless movies, spinoffs, and books that follow the blueprint of the Transylvanian count. When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to arrange for an English home purchase for Count Dracula, he becomes a prisoner in Dracula's castle and discovers horrific and unnatural facts about Dracula himself. Not long after, strange events occur in England--a unmanned ship beaches on shore, a madman awaits his master, and a young woman with unexplained puncture wounds on her neck becomes pale and ...

"For the dead travel fast"
Surprisingly "Denn die Toten reiten schnell" or "For the dead travel fast" is more than an opening line to this tale of love in the dangerous moon light. After watching several Drac movies and a few Nosferatu's, I pretty much though I had a handle on the genera. Little did I know what a wonderful world of mystery and suspense that Bram Stoker opened up for me. The story is told mostly third ...

History is more compelling than fiction
A fascinating figure in history deserves a book as good as this. Immoral butcher, and defender of most Holy Christian Europe, murderer of the poor and upholder of absolute justice, war criminal and heroic defender of his people. One could perhaps describe Dracula in simple terms as the Dr. Doom of his day. A horrible villain to some, yet a hero to his people and one who followed for the most ...

Magnificent, an obvious labor of love...
Robert Eighteen-Bisang has spent an extraordinary life devoted to vampire lore and especially to Dracula. Now, he and Elizabeth Miller, in a beautifully produced volume, annotate and transcribe Bram Stoker's notes for Dracula. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in this seminal work of fiction and in how novels are put together. Bravo!

Super Reader
An excellent book. Kim Newman puts his own spin on a turn around a Wold Newton style universe. He also has a bunch of sneaky 'now who was that' style cameos, a la John Myers Myers' Silverlock. Dracula has found another way to be in charge in England, by marrying in to the royal family. To prevent problems, he has had the Great Detective thrown in a prison camp. So when a serial killed ...

Classic novel with excellent narration
One of the very best Gothic novels gets first-class treatment from narrator Robert Whitfield in this unabridged production. Just the right amount of melodrama; excellent accents. It's amazing how, after all these years and in this day of slasher flicks and such, Stoker's classic never fails to tingle the spine.

Must read for all horror fans
First let me say that I wanted to review the unabridged version and couldnt find it on Amazon. Bram Stoker's books was writtten in the late 1800's so some of the text my require a look into the dictionary. It is by no means unreadable. I think even a young teen would have no problem with it. I had to look a few words up but so what I expanded my vocabulary a bit. If your not sure just go to a ...
