A good, clean escape from the present
The stories draw you in; a good, clean escape from the present. The characters and situations are very realistic, yet are not gory, nor do they sugarcoat life. Very entertaining; I found myself wishing the drive to work/home was a little longer.

To thine own self be true ...
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING CHIEFLY PERTAINS TO THE NEW FOLGER LIBRARY EDITION. William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is arguably the most famous play ever written in the English language; it presents the world with questions and characters that have been the subject of thespian and scholarly debate ever since the Prince of Denmark's first appearance on the stage of London's Globe Theatre. Probably written ...

Yet another fantastic way to enjoy Ms. Christie
Here's my altogether selfish reason for posting this particular review: There are another dozen or so BBC Radio adaptations of Christie novels out there, and I'm hoping that a sequel collection will be offered in the future. That alone should stand as a loud endorsement for these enjoyable and faithful adaptations of Christie classics! When I say faithful, I mean it! Even the brilliant TV films ...

Awsome Audio - Wish Amazon Had the Right Text!!!
WOW! The only problem with the Amazon product description and reviews is that THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG!!!!! This Dramatized Audio version of the Novel is somewhat different from the novel. According to the web site dedicated to this audio (www.sonofawantedman.com) the script was written by Louis L'Amour's son Beau and includes some changes. As an audio fan I can tell you that this is the Rolls ...

The Best Attempt
I have heard about all the different adaptations of the great short story, including the recent movie. I found that this audio drama was the best so far. I enjoyed the drama when on road trips or in the field when I served the military. I can only hope the possible remakes are better. The recent movie wasn't, but the CD was.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
The dramatization was as good as the Hitchhiker's episodes. The acting was superb, and the technical productions were absolutely brilliant. One negative - if you've never read the book you'll be confused by the beginning. For those who haven't read the book, I recommend reading it first. Despite the one negative, this is very well done, and I'm looking forward to the dramatization of "Long ...

Absolutely excellent
It wasn't until 2001 that I learned of the existence of this articular dramatization of Lord of the Rings, after having listened to the American program for well over ten years. Unfortunately, it was rather a difficult program to locate. I found a copy at my local library but some of the disks were damaged and, so while I was able to listen to it I had to fast forward through certain parts. ...

So Long, Hitchhiker's Guide, and Thanks for All the Fun
This is the superb final BBC radio series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this one adapting Douglas Adams' final book Mostly Harmless. It features the same creators and cast from the recent Tertiary and Quandary Phases (which means that most of the original cast from the 1978 to 1980 radio shows appear.) While the book itself was a major disappointment, the radio adaption manages to ...

Desert Death Song Powder Basin - the broken, rugged country at the edge of a dry, forbidding desert - holds more hiding places than most men could find. Nat Bodine knows most of them; holed up in the Basin hills by a posse of over a hundred men, he needs them more than ever before. Jim Morton knows that if anyone is going to escape this posse, it's Bodine, just as he knows that Bodine is the kind of man who wouldn't commit the crime of which ...

Sharing History
As a new recruit in the growing international army of Civil War reenactors, I was anxious to evolve past the usual march-and-shoot mass maneuvers into effective first-person interaction with spectators. But having never even seen a living-history interpreter, I wasn't sure what to do. Then I found Ms. Roth's delightful book on the internet! She interviewed scores of experienced interpreters at ...

Grub Line Rider Most folks would call Kim Sartain an easygoing, peace-loving man. But the few who crossed the young drifter knew there was nothing he liked better than a good fight. When cattleman Jim Targ challenges Sartain's right to ride across an unclaimed stretch of meadow, Sartain decides he'll do better than ride through: He'll put down stakes there and homestead the land. So there's more at risk than land and pride when Targ hires a ...

I Cried, I Laughed, I Cried Some More
When I found this item on the audiobook rack at my local bookstore (the one with the cafe stapled onto it) it took me at least an entire minute to figure out what it was I was looking at. I thought it must be a reissue of the original radio episodes (from 25 years ago) or a new reading by somebody or other. Gradually it dawned on me like a sledgehammer through molasses that this was an all-new ...
The Collected Bowdrie Dramatizations: Volume 1
Louis L'Amour
Random House Audio
, 2005
Follow Chick Bowdrie's adventure in these classic westerns by America's favorite storyteller, Louis L'Amour. Chick Bowdrie could have been an outlaw, but he rode a different trail. The Texas Rangers recruited Bowdrie to help pursue the most wanted men in the Southwest. And Bowdrie knew the terrain all too well: the dusty trails, bitter cattle feuds, the desperate killers, and the weather-beaten towns that could explode into chaos at the ...

I don't care what anyone else says about it, this is an excellent adaptation.
The title pretty much says it all. In fact had it not been for this very version of the story I might never have been able to read the trilogy in its unabridged form. The Library of Congress version, better known to some of you as the Talking Book version recorded mainly for blind would-be readers, just didn't capture the story at all. Because of the narrator's voice I just couldn't get into it. ...

The Strong Shall Live When they burned his home, he rebuilt it. When they shot at him, he shot back. But now the man they call Cavagan is in the worst bind of his life. With his hands tied and his body stiff from beatings, he has been left for dead at the bottom of a deep sand pit in the searing Santa Fe desert. Sixty miles from the nearest water.
