In this book Alton Brown stays true to who he is on the show. Entertaining and very insightful. This is a great book for someone who loves food and the process of cooking. Especially for those who are interested in the why part of the how. Highly recommended.

If I had to keep only three cookbooks from my collection, this would be one of them.
My friend and I went shopping at a local non-chain bookstore. She bought this book and I wound up buying something along the lines of Cooking for One. When we got home, we discovered we both liked the other's purchase better. We traded, and boy am I glad! This book is full of very good *do-able* recipes. I personally like the variety they give you and all the recipes are especially good ...

Everybody eats there
"Everybody eats there" is the best dinner party gift I have ever come across. Well written, witty and meticulously researched, it tells everything you ever wanted to know, from the menu to the clientele and history, about the most exclusive restaurants in the world, the ones you always dreamt of going to. I have personally been lucky enough to have gone to many of the 100 restaurants described in ...

balanced reporting
I was a little wary when purchasing this book that the entire premise would be zealotish anti-GMO and anti-biotechnology. The quotes on the cover seemed to indicate that would also be the case. I was extremely pleased to find a very balanced reporting of both sides of the genetic engineering debate. The author has been a reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for over 2 decades, and has been ...

Excellent!
While I am not a vegan, I do dabble in vegan/vegetarian cooking. So far this cookbook has blown me away! The ingredients are focused on healthy fats and sugars and, of course, the emphasis on whole grains and organic veggies, which is really key for me. The Supercharge Me! cookies are mouth watering! They passed the "kid test" at home and with 2.5 grams of fiber per cookie, no proccessed ...

Great customer service!
The quality of the books are excellent. I had a problem receiving the books, though. When tracking them I was told they were delivered, but I had never received them. I got connected with customer service through the website and they helped make things right by re-sending my order. These books came in the same time I should have received my other books. I feel confident that I can order ...

Shamelessly take the credit for Fran Warde's easy, chic recipes!
I actually bought this book twice. Once, it was for around $75 in a Tokyo bookstore. (The second time was a few weeks ago from Amazon.) It was difficult to part with the $75, but after a month or so of wavering, I splurged. I never regretted it for a minute! Believe it or not, the first copy was stolen from me during a party (but at least the thief had good taste), and I looked for another ...

Easy and Elegant
I love to cook and this is my favorite cookbook. This is a collection of menus, with interesting combinations of courses. Each recipe is very clearly explained. The author uses store bought ingredients whenevr possible to save time, such as chutneys, etc. The food is very elegant, reasonably economical, and simple to prepare quickly. I found it at a "buck a book" store, you might too.
