Buzzed: The Straight Facts About the Most Used and Abused Drugs from Alcohol to Ecstasy, Third Edition ...34 reviews
Cynthia Kuhn, Scott Swartzwelder, ...

W. W. Norton, 2008

Very up to date information
I bought this book for a University class that I am taking. It is packed with information. Some chapters are pretty scientific (especially the chapter on the brain). The authors do a good job, even for a scientifically challenged reader like myself. If you want to know the most current info on drugs, this is the book to pick up.

Rumi: The Book of Love: Poems of Ecstasy and Longing6 reviews
Coleman Barks

HarperOne, 2005

There Is Some Kiss We Want
Coleman Barks once again translates the words of Rumi with respect, good nature, a bit of humor, and a deep understanding of this 13th century mystic and poet. A renowned poet and something of a mystic himself, Coleman Barks leads us through his book as a constant and caring companion. He begins each chapter with his own touching stories, guidance, and expert explanations for the material he ...

After the Ecstasy, the Laundry: How the Heart Grows Wise on the Spiritual Path40 reviews
Jack Kornfield

The Whole Catastrophe
Jack Kornfield was trained as a clinical psychologist as well as a Buddhist monk. He is needless to say, a wise man. 'After the Ecstasy, the Laundry' is filled with invitations to embrace what Zorba referred to as "the whole catastrophe." Life. Sex and the Perfect Lover: Tao, Tantra, and the Kama Sutra246 reviews
Mabel Iam

Atria, 2005

I'd give it six stars if I could.
M. Iam seriously addresses intimacy issues and provides a step-by-step deep relationship-nourishing format that begins with the art of exploring the pleasures of the Kama sutra from the vantage point of the couple's balanced physical, mental and emotional energy. In addition to initiating and maintaining the purely sensual aspects of love-making. Everyone should read this book. I have read a ...

13: Thirteen Stories That Capture the Agony and Ecstasy of Being Thirteen9 reviews

Simon Pulse, 2006

It is a collection anyone can enjoy.
Author Sandra Cisneros expressed in her story "Eleven" that when you are eleven years old, you are also ten, nine and eight, and so forth. Thirteen is no different. When you're thirteen, you're also twelve, eleven and ten, yet you're expected --- and even want --- to be fourteen, fifteen and sixteen. Being thirteen is a time of confusion and sometimes anger, but it's also a time of hope and ...

Music, The Brain, And Ecstasy:How Music Captures Our Imagination42 reviews
Robert Jourdain

Harper Perennial, 1998

For the technically inquisitive
This work is older than the presently popular Musicophilia, and from a different venue. Sacks' book is basically a compendium of anecdotes from a very observant guy with an opportune position and a great memory. Jordain's is more objective, looking for the physics of the responses to frequencies, resonances and meter. Its kind of a look at the brain as a "machine". In my view, it has less ...

The Agony and the Ecstasy: A Biographical Novel of Michelangelo115 reviews
Irving Stone

NAL Trade, 2004

A Very Good Read
If you are planning a trip to Italy, read this book before you go. Everything Michelangelo will mean so much more to you. A big, fat, thick book, but worth every minute of your time. One of those books that you tend to read more slowly near the end, because you don't want it to end.

Tantric Secrets for Men: What Every Woman Will Want Her Man to Know about Enhancing Sexual Ecstasy5 reviews
Kerry Riley

Destiny Books, 2002

the best Tantra book out there for men
The best book, period, for men who want to learn the essence of Tantra without all the attached Eastern mysticism. The techniques and their benefits are broken down into simple, easy to read steps and significance. I found this a great addition to "The Multi-Orgasmic Man." Whether you're looking to last longer in bed, bring more pleasure to your partner, and bring a heightened sense of love ...

Spiritwalker: Messages from the Future26 reviews
Hank Wesselman

Bantam, 1996

The beginning of a thrilling trilogy!
Spiritwalker is the first book of a trilogy. The next two books are "Medicinmaker," then "Visionseeker." In Spiritwalker, Hank Wesselman beautifully illustrates his initial, extraordinary visionary experiences with using a writing style which is easy to follow and often peppered with humor. The concepts presented in the book -- such as out-of-body consciousness and shamanism's healing methods, ...

I Had It All the Time: When Self-Improvement Gives Way to Ecstasy15 reviews
Alan Cohen

Alan Cohen Publications, 1994

Great Book! A nice diversion from the self-help norm.
I found this book by Alan Cohen much better and different in style than anything written by Wayne Dyer (who is very good) if that helps put my review into perspective. Refreshing, insightful, and uplifting yet down to earth in a spiritual way (which is what are all doing of course).

Tantra: Path of Ecstasy9 reviews
Georg Feuerstein

Shambhala, 1998

A 'primer' coat of many colors
Feuerstein has done the English-speaking world a genuine service with this introduction to Tantra, suited especially to the casual intelligent reader. This is not suited to those interested in an anthropological, historical, or how-to approach (see reviews below for more details); instead, Feuerstein covers the basic topics in a rather plain-vanilla fashion. Feuerstein's first positive task is ...

Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking : The Ultimate in Female Ecstasy26 reviews
Tommy Leonardi, Arthur Gross

Signet, 1998

How to put more "mmm" in your love life
Selfishness is best left outside the bedroom. This book shows you how to bring out the ultimate pleasure of the female body. Women have many more erogenous lady parts to her than is believed by most. The author of this book does an excellent job explaining the wonders of female comfort and orgasm, including the elusive female ejaculation. I have read this one at least twice and refer back to ...

Unleashing Her G-Spot Orgasm: A Step-by-Step Guide to Giving a Woman Ultimate Sexual Ecstasy11 reviews
Donald L. Hicks

Amorata Press, 2006

The real deal.
This book is the real deal. I read and memorized this book. When I followed it with my girlfriend, it was a complete road map to what to look for before proceeding to the next road post. In our case, each of the things to watch for, and the things to do and avoid doing worked. This book was life changing for my girlfriend. She has compared the orgasms from the g-spot to taking drugs ...

Mariette in Ecstasy56 reviews
Ron Hansen

Harper Perennial, 1992

Glimpses of passion, of ecstasy
"Mariette in Ecstasy" is a work of passion, a work of ecstasy, of faith, of doubt, of commitment, of agape love, the Devil, the sublime. Mariette Baptiste becomes a postulate in the Convent of the Sisters of the Crucifixion in New York in the early 1900's. Her sister, twenty years older, is Mother Superior. The convent is a place of religious devotion, days filled with prayer and service, ...

Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy (Bollingen Series (General))24 reviews
Mircea Eliade

Princeton University Press, 2004

A classic.
The book market is flooded with books on "shamanism" but this one really stands out. I can honestly say that out of the books on the topic I've read so far this one is the best. It not only discusses the shamanic practices of the Native Americans , Siberians, and Tibetans, but also analogous practices of the Indo-European peoples. "Shamanism, Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy" is a classic and ...
