Life is Combat
Whether you realize it or not, ever since Satan rebelled against God, every human being has arrived on planet earth - a world at war! Chuck's book shows how the lessons he learned as a more elite soldier - a US Army Ranger (hooah) - are directly applicable to life as a Christian being a more elite soldier in the army of the Lord and participating in the daily spiritual battle. Chuck also shows ...

A good read, but dry in places
I enjoyed Killer Elite, it is a very interesting look into a military unit many people don't even know exists. There are a myriad of books available on top secret commandos like Delta Force and the SAS, but precious little is written about the people who enable them to do their jobs. That being said this book can be very dry in places and tough to get through. It is also written from a big ...

This review refers to the Kindle edition of the book
Writing a book about the most powerful and influential people on Earth is risky, as such a subject cannot help but be intensely political, given the vast inequalities of wealth and power evident in our world. It is hard to maintain a credible balance, but the author manages to do just that. He shows that the evolution of a class of "elites" is natural for human societies, and perhaps even ...
Jagdgeschwader 7 "Nowotny" (Aviation Elite Units)
Robert Forsyth
Osprey Publishing
, 2008
When the revolutionary Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter first appeared in the skies over northwest Europe in mid-1944, it represented the greatest challenge to Allied air superiority since the Battle of Britain. The first group to solely fly jet fighters, Jagdgeschwader 7 was formed out of the test unit Kommando Nowotny, and was tasked with taking back command of the skies. Put almost immediately into action, despite fuel shortages, poor ...

This book does excellent job of covering overall the subject comprehensively, with good illustrations and does not bog down into detail, or focus to the point of excessive respectivity. Is seems to me a good phy. ed. starter for any age experienced with reading.

Who Rules in America?
_The Power Elite_, first published in 1956, by sociologist and social critic C. Wright Mills, is a disturbing work which examines the ruling class (or what Mills more appropriately terms a "power elite") in the United States at the time. C. Wright Mills (1916 - 1962) was an American sociologist who was heavily influenced by the works of Karl Marx and Max Weber. Mills takes a cynical attitude ...

Its 89th Anniversary- Today
Eighty-nine years ago today, Manfred von Richthofen's (the "Red Baron") German army flight group was dismantled with its loss in World War 1. Greg Van Wyngarden's "Richthofen's Circus" (2004, 128-page paperback) is a fascinating read about those pilots and planes. Presenting a day-to-day account the author offers an intimate look into the lives of JG 1's pilots, victories at war, air war ...

Samurai, bushido, and clan-wars-so it begins
Meticulous armor details and visually appealing artwork (McBride) makes this a worthy addition to Osprey's books of samurai interest, and it focuses on a little known period. For a reader seeking less armor detail and more on what these guys actually did, I would recommend some of Stephen Turnbull's books in addition to his Osprey titles. Again, the plates were awesome; I especially liked Queen ...

Ignore the poor reviews
I read through all the reviews before ordering this book & came to the conclusion that either the wrong people are enlisting in the military or people are selecting the wrong Military Occupational Specialty. After about five minutes I had my personal fitness plan custom tailored to my needs. Where the confusion lies I don't know. Within half an hour all the stretches and exercises were ...

The Revolt of the Elites.
_The Revolt of the Elites and the Betrayal of Democracy_ by historian and sociologist Christopher Lasch is an interesting account of the situation we find ourselves in today. According to Lasch, contrary to the thesis advanced by Ortega y Gasset in _The Revolt of the Masses_, the revolt of the masses is over ending in the defeat of communism and is to be followed by a revolt of the cultural ...

The Eternal Return of the Elite
This monograph first saw the light of day in 1901 and has been understood as a somewhat famous attempt at a non race-based understanding of 'elitism'. The failure of this attempt to be either genuinely explanatory or entirely successful seems, by almost all accounts, to have been historically verified by fascisms repeated descent into racism. But, given the utter failure of the Fascist movements ...

This, the second volume on the fascinating subject of the general officers who fought for Napoleon and led the Grande Armee is as good as the first, if not better. More than twenty generals and marshal, including Druout, St. Cyr, Rapp, Soult, St. Hilaire, and Prince Eugene are covered here is biographical sketches that, at times, give more information on the subject officer than is common in ...

Nikon D300 Made Easy 1&2
This is the second Elite Video I have purchased. The first, for the Nikon D80, was excellent. This effort for the Nikon D300 is also excellent allowing a quick tutorial on what can be a complicated camera. Unlike other reviewers, the discs I received played without problem. I highly recommend this product and cannot imagine trying to learn the camera with only Nikon's manual.

A Great Comic
i really dug this one. i enjoy joe kelly's work a lot, first with his excellent deadpool series and then his brief x-men run, which stands as my favorite run by any author on any series. the man knows how to write comics. and with the exception of his incredible (and still unfinished) steampunk series, this is the best thing he's done since. there's really nothing to complain about with his ...
