Say Goodbye 33 reviews Lisa Gardner
Bantam, 2008
There went a good night's sleep..... Yes, there ARE some disturbing elements to this story as others have noted, but you expect something along those lines when you pick up a suspense/thriller, right? I do anyway.
Extraordinarily pleased w/ this entire book.... couldn't put it down & then finished this morning what I didn't last night. AWESOME characters, plot, dialogue - loved it all around. Can't wait for more!

Fish! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results 217 reviews Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, ...
Hyperion, 2000
Fish! for Teambuilding We used Fish! as a team-building exercise at work. We read about 20 pages a week and then discussed. Even people who don't like to read, enjoyed it because it's such a quick, easy, story. I did get CD's for a few people. This was a group that needed to become cohesive, and after the second week, everyone was animated about Fish! People shared their own experiences as it related to the story. ...

First, Break All the Rules: What the World's Greatest Managers Do Differently 258 reviews Marcus Buckingham, Curt Coffman
Simon & Schuster, 1999
More Profound than its Title Suggests You can't take the title seriously (some Amazon reviewers do). The book is about what Gallup has found makes effective managers of people during its research for various clients over 10+ years. The central theme is that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Nothing new there. What is new, is their research that shows (a) an individual's strengths are real workforce multipliers, (b) effort ...

Now, Discover Your Strengths 325 reviews Marcus Buckingham, Donald O. Clifton
Free Press, 2001
buy new only!! This is a wonderful book, but you have to buy it new! There's a code on the inside for the strengths quiz, and you cannot reuse the code. I had to buy StrengthsFinder 2.0--the new version--in order to get the quiz without repurchansing the same exact book twice.
It would have been nice to know this....

Gung Ho! Turn On the People in Any Organization 103 reviews Ken Blanchard
William Morrow, 1997
Keep It Simple Stupid The anti-cliche corporate example used as the basis for this book and its powerful message prove again that the best ideas are the simplest ones. The brilliance of the author's writing is its quick and easy-to-read format. An author with a larger ego could have easily mired this message in excessive wordiness to lengthen the page count, but why? The concepts are logical and straight-forward. ...

PHR/SPHR: Professional in Human Resources Certification Study Guide 70 reviews Anne Bogardus
Sybex, 2007
Highly recommend this book I was late signing up with the PHR exam and I didn't have a lot of study time by the time I received this book, like a month. I used this book as my only source of information (I did graduate with my Bachelors and have worked in Staffing/HR for 9 years) and passed on my first try. I was very nervous because I kept hearing that it's difficult to pass on the first time, but this book helped me ...

The dream manager changed my life Being in a management position, I thought the book was supposed to teach me how to be the dream manager. I soon found out that it is much better than I expected. It teaches you to start dreaming again. The reason why people are so miserable at work is because they do not feel that they make a difference. Executive Warfare: 10 Rules of Engagement for Winning Your War for Success 7 reviews David D'Alessandro
McGraw-Hill, 2008
Informed, Practical, And About Half The Total Solution I would put this in my top five favorite books for management just behind Hubbard's How to Measure Anything: Finding the Value of "Intangibles" in Business and Taleb's The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable.
D'Alessandro has written a sort of The Art Of War for upper management. Everything I read in his book is something I can directly relate to my own experiences and probably ...
