Outstanding book, but you should buy the newer edition, not this version
All of the reviews on this book are generally consistent in their praise for the book and the authors. I do not have any points to add to the discussion other than this: It is a credit to this version of Statistics for Experimenters that it has remained relevant throughout the years as a classic introductory text that has kept selling consistently since it was released in the 1970's. ...

Fascinating anecdotes
Guinea Pig Scientists contains nine chapters, each on a different scientist who made a difference by plaicng themself in harm's way to varying degrees. The book is hardly in depth, but it covers the most important aspects of each scientists methods and what was learned from them. This would be a great book to use to get adolescents interested in scientific inquiry. It is an engaging read, and ...

Its Good
The ARRL Microwave Expermenters Manuel is written by people that know their audience. The book is a collection of origional material and articles that have appeared in QST. It is not a text book. It does require some previous exposure to radio theory. It is fun to read. It has lots of pictures and graphs. Its a great book for a technician who wants learn about UHF and amateur radio. These ...
Self-Experimenters: Sources for Study (Bibliographies and Indexes in Medical Studies)
Arsen P. Fiks
Praeger Publishers
, 2003
Self-experimentation, the deliberate design and implementation of an experiment using the experimenter's own body, is more common than is generally known. In fact, as this captivating reference book shows, hundreds of individuals over the centuries have used themselves as "guinea pigs" to test a theory or to understand a disease. The author provides a detailed history of the practice through numerous dictionary-style entries on ...

Valuable supplementary resource
As I understand it, Rorabaugh wrote this book as a supplementary resource for robotics hobbyists, rather than as a primary tool meant to stand on its own. It is valuable within this context. If you have a background in basic electronics and robotics, or are reading this book concurrently with others in these areas, Rorabaugh's book will make sense and add to your understanding. Yes, it is true ...

really helpful
I've found this book really very helpful. I'm essentially a geneticist/molecular biologist, but with this book I've been able to develop a multistep protocol for affinity purifying my protein of interest. The book is clear and concise, I would highly recommend it.

Long-awaited update to a classic
This is the best applied book in any scientific or mathematical subject that I have ever read. The reviewers who are looking for equations and the typical assumptions-theory-proof presentation just picked up the wrong book. If you're interested in applying experimental design to real-world problems, this book is indispensable. The authors help you get inside the math and really understand ...

excellent book, but too old...
The Experimenter Series is an excellent series and is very helpful in every day bench work. The books are nicely written and very easy to understand. As I was very satisfied with this series so far, I wanted to have the newly released edition of the "Molecular Biology and Genomics" (published Dec. 2006). However, after ordering it, I realized that this was the translation of the old 4th ...
The Impoverished Radio Experimenter, Vol 2

, 1999
48 pages. Here, you learn to build a one-transistor model around the components you can salvage, steal or buy. It's a great exercise in building in itself. It forces you to solve the mechanical problems of building that are often more difficult than the electrical. And when you're done you have a machine that makes coil winding, and tank circuit fabrication predictable rather than merely guess work. You won't need to have the exact coil form ...

Learning and building transmitters / rec (FM, AM, Video, RC)
Great book! It is the backbone of transmitting and receiving. If you want to learn how to build or how transmitters and receivers work get this book!! The only thing I don't like is the designs are not that up to date, but you need to know them to build better transmitters / receivers. This is a great book for getting into RF. The best part is you can build everything!!
