Harvey Hare, a Postman who cares
My three-year-old son adores our wonderfully friendly mailman. As a result he is enthralled by any book or video pertaining to a mailman. Harvey Hare, Postman Extraordinaire is one of our favorite naptime/bedtime books. It is a gentle store of the faithful hare who delivers mail to all the meadow creatures in any type of weather. In return the community thanks him for his faithfulness by ...

Eustache Lambert: Donne Extraordinaire
Was a charming historical essay on an early explorer and resident of New France. I must say that I was rather more enchanted with the fact that he is also one of my own ancestors. Well researched and presented. The author did well in doing his research via both historical records from the Roman Catholic Church and local historical records. The subject of the book further shows, how very savy ...

Bacon in book form
This book is a funny fast and irreverent guide. You can learn enough about all sorts of comestibles, though the author wouldn't use a pretentious word like comestibles when a simple clear one like FOOD would do, to impress your friends or just feel a little more secure throwing your next dinner party. Like all the best books about food it teaches you a lot about the local culture. Sounds like ...

History Through Illuminating Maps
David Rumsey was fascinated by maps as a kid, and they were always papered onto the walls of his room. The fascination with maps did not leave him, through several degrees in fine art and a career in real estate. He amassed one of the largest private collections of maps, The David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, 150,000 catalogued items stored on the ground floor of his house in San ...

This really is a great story!
We always read or hear about the struggles of Blacks in the south. And now witht the effects of just how strong "racism" still exists in America, I found this book to be on point about how racism is not just a race problem its a personal one that crosses over from inter-racial prejudice. It's my hope Ms. Vay continues to write such stirring stories about the myths of miscegenation in the south.

The Vision Caught Indeed
The midfifties were a watershed in auto design. Who can forget the first sight of the dazzling fifties Chevies and Fords but most of all the very dramatic and elegant Chrysler products from 1955 on. The Chrysler products were produced under the inspiration and leadership of Virgil Exner. This book is a dream for all of us interested in automobiles, their design, and the process that brings ...

Tiny Pamphlet
While this "book" has a lot of nice phrases and mantras, it is 18 pages total in length, and is smaller than a pamphlet that you would get at the grocery store. Flimsy and cheap feeling, this is in no way an actual book. You can find better (and bigger) things elsewhere.

MASTER BUTLER SHARES INTERESTING INFORMATION
June 16,2008 As an author, I attended Book Expo America in Los Angeles. I live part time in Las Vegas and Valentino Crespo's unique book intersted me so I got a copy of it and just finished reading it. While the title indicates inside secrets will be shared, I found a few bonus sections. ONE. I think it is a great story about what can be created through positive thinking...the power of your ...

Les histories de Jean-Marie Cabidoulin by Jules Verne
Typical old Jules,- good story, emminently well written, but one can feel that this one was one of his later works. Still, very good, if you like that sort of things, which I do very much. The only disappointment were the badly copied, not too numerous, eight as compared to the original twenty-nine, illustrations. And, by the way, this title is not available new anywhere else in the world, with ...

A bizarre sequel to "Le Savant Fou"
The 'cliffhanger' serials of the early French cinema are the inspiration for celebrated French illustrator Jacques Tardi's graphic novels. Beginning with "Adieu Brindavoine" in 1972 Tardi depicts a world combining Jules Verne with Emile Zola. This 4th album of the Adele Blanc-Sec series reunites the plucky Edwardian journalist with characters from her previous adventures as well as polishing ...

Disappointing sequel to "Le Demon de la Tour Eiffel"
"The Mad Scientist" is another of noted French illustrator Jacques Tardi's graphic-cliffhanger tributes to the early French cinema. Unfortunately it is not nearly as good as its predecessors. An unexpected invitation to a seance leads Plucky Edwardian journalist Adele Blanc-Sec to the revival of an ape-man frozen in Siberian ice since the Pleistocene era. Unfortunately one of the attending ...

Highly recommended
I highly recommend this book as an introduction to environmental sociology. My students say they like Bell's writing style, as it is accessible and he makes confusing concepts easy to understand. I like the way he places individual choices and decisions in a social context so that students can see the influences of social structures (the built environment, our time constraints and our need for ...
