Stacy Malkan

New Society Publishers, 2007

The Shocking Truth
A friend picked up this book to read with her older sister one day. Less than three monthes later, the pair started their own e-business called The Nature Of Beauty-- carrying all organic cosmetic lines. The truth, exposed in Not Just A Pretty Face shocked them, so they decided to fill the hole in the market for products that contain none of the chemicals mentioned in this book. She promptly gave ...

I Love You Stinky Face68 reviews
Lisa Mccourt

Cartwheel, 2004

Not necessarily a boy
I love this book! The message is wonderful and the pictures are great. Despite what the other reviewers (and even the back of the book) say, there is nothing in the text or pictures that says the child is a boy. I love reading this to my daughter. (Note: Apparently the board book is an abridged version, so maybe the full version is more specific).

Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold188 reviews
C.S. Lewis

Harcourt Brace & Company, 1980

Beyond Excellent
I went into this book not knowing what to expect; I'd never even heard of it before. The first time I read it, it blew my mind. The second time, it struck me in different ways, all just as powerful and intriguing. I can safely say that this is one of my favorite books of all time. The story follows the "ugly sister" of the Eros/Psyche myth -- the one who seeks to destroy Psyche's happiness ...

The 5-Minute Face: The Quick & Easy Makeup Guide for Every Woman65 reviews
Carmindy

Collins Living, 2007

Just as easy to do at home as she makes it look on television
I was thrilled to find Carmindy had published a book on how to do the Five Minute Face, from her segment on What Not to Wear. I've been a devotee of hers, and the show's, for years, and always secretly wondered if it was as easy as she made it appear. With Five Minute Face, it is! Carmindy breaks everything down into simple, easy to understand step by step instructions, and walks you through ...

THE HIDDEN FACE OF GOD
This book is one of the most significant books I have read in the last thirty years. It opens the reader's eyes to the mind-blowing miracles that exist in every atom of every part of the universe and especially the intricate interdependence of the organs and brain of every human body! All of it in constant motion at every instant. Gerald Schroeder is not only a graduate of M.I.T. but a ...

The Ten Faces of Innovation: IDEO's Strategies for Defeating the Devil's Advocate and Driving Creativity ...39 reviews
Thomas Kelley, Jonathan Littman

Doubleday Business, 2005

I couldn't put it down
I'm a big believer in collaboration. No one is an island and should stand or think alone. Tom Kelley explains in simple terms the personas necessary to operate in an IDEO way. I believe the IDEO way is very similar to my background working in the film business. When working on films, you show up on the set and each department, without much communication, goes to work weaving in and out of ...

About Face 3: The Essentials of Interaction Design9 reviews
Alan Cooper, Robert Reimann, ...

Wiley, 2007

Nearly a complete course in the "Cooper Method"
I read (and still have) the previous two editions of this book. Unlike the usual "complete revised and updated" hype for new editions, this one has had some serious re-work and expansion. The whole structure of the book is new and very close to being a complete course/textbook in the Cooper approach to Goal-based Design. All the sections have been expanded based upon reactions to the ...

The Face of Battle: A Study of Agincourt, Waterloo, and the Somme69 reviews
John Keegan

Penguin (Non-Classics), 1983

An outstanding military history by a master historian
_The Face of Battle_ closely examines three pivitol battles: Agincourt (1415), Waterloo (1815) and the Somme (1916). In his examination, Keegan outlines the overall strategic objectives and how the battlefields were chosen (typical fare for military history), but also seeks to understand the "intangibles" of combat - how and why soldiers act as they do, and how these actions and decisions ...

How to Draw Funny Faces (How to Draw (Dover))8 reviews
Barbara Soloff Levy

Dover Publications, 2002

My 5-year old grand daughter loved it!
When my grand daughter comes to visit, I like to create a fun environment for her. I bought "How To Draw Funny Faces" for her, and she loved it. Usually she spends no more than 10 minutes on a project or game, but she spent close to an hour drawing the various faces in the book and then hung them on my refrigerator. Great for kids to learn to draw and fun.

The Face on the Milk Carton587 reviews
Caroline B. Cooney

Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 1996

Best book ever
It was a wonderful book. there was a lot of detail to descibe the cherecters. It was also a cliff hanger which I loved about the book, and other books. It also had a little over romance, which droped my rating by .5, but there isnt a 4.5 option so I settled for 5. The romance enhanced the book, but not what happened when Janie and Reeve almost did going home from New Jersey. Yet, I cant imagine ...
