She's No Faerie Princess (The Others, Book 2)23 reviews
Christine Warren

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2006

Loved It!
I wasn't sure I'd like this book because I don't normally read or enjoy stories or books about the Fae. But I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I actually laughed out loud at the parts Squick (and briefly Babbage) had. I do enjoy stories that mix a little humor in them. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Building vocabulary
The best way I know of to help a child to build their vocabular is for them to read. I bought this book for my niece. She asked for it so I got it for her. Anytime I can get her to read and not watch Television is good for her. Stephen Richey Author of The Galley

The Celtic Twilight: Faerie and Folklore1 review
W. B. Yeats

Dover Publications, 2004

Faerie Folklore of a Shadowy Ireland of Celtic Mysteries !
In Celtic Twilight, originally published in 1902, Yeats recites several accounts of encounters with the faerie folk and with the people of Ireland of the time which gives us insight into Irish folklore, myth and legend. Yeats associates poetry with religious ideas and sentiment. And, I believe that he saw himself as writing for Ireland, but a shadowy Ireland of Celtic mysteries and legends, ...

The Faerie Path #2: The Lost Queen: Book Two of The Faerie Path9 reviews
Frewin Jones

Eos, 2007

A Fun Fantasy Adventure
I had read the previous book, The Faerie Path, a while ago and was excited to read this sequel. And it did not disappoint. The book started off with Tania and Edric, returning from Faerie to the Mortal World to find Tania's mother that has been missing from Faerie for five hundred years. But this task proves even more difficult than they expected, as Tania and Edric must hide their secrets from ...

Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception12 reviews
Maggie Stiefvater

Flux, 2008

(4.5) Haunting, scary, and romantic
First love: it's scary and confusing enough even when there aren't homicidal faeries involved. Add in the homicidal faeries, and a girl can get in over her head before she can say "cold iron." Maggie Stiefvater's _Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception_ is an excellent YA fantasy that will appeal to anyone who likes stories of the fae as they appear in the oldest legends: dangerous, seductive, ...

Enchantment of the Faerie Realm: Communicate with Nature Spirits & Elementals26 reviews
Ted Andrews

Llewellyn Publications, 2002

An enchanting read for sure!
I enjoyed every page of this book. It is certainly one of the most informative books on the faerie realm I have ever read, packed not only with facts about each kind of elemental but also exercises to help the reader easily make contact with faeries. And I admit I cried off and on throughout this book as well. I dearly love all faeries and elementals, and it is easy to see the author has a ...

Valiant: A Modern Tale of Faerie69 reviews
Holly Black

Simon Pulse, 2006

Outstanding
For a while now I'd seen Holly Black's "Modern Faerie Tale" novels in the YA section, but I passed them by, assuming they were just one in a number of "edgy" fantasy tales with goth-y or otherwise "alternative" heroes or heroines. Don't get me wrong, I love edgy and have nothing but love for a good outcast type character and characters with piercings and green hair. But, I'd been disappointed in ...

Brian Froud's World of Faerie11 reviews
Brian Froud

Insight Editions, 2007

PURE GENIUS
What else can be said about Brian Froud, other than the fact that he is brilliant and overwhelmingly talented? I own every one of his publications, including a first edition 1978 book, "The wind between the stars". Brian's imagination can't be touched. I, too am an artist and his drawings and movies inspire the living daylights out of me.

The Faerie Queene (Penguin Classics)35 reviews
Edmund Spenser

Penguin Classics, 1979

Penguin is best edition short of Hamilton's
This is a review of The Faerie Queene, Penguin Classics edition, edited by Thomas Roche (ISBN 0140422072). The Faerie Queene itself will not be to everyone's taste. It is probably easier than Milton, definitely harder than Malory, and parts of it are very accessible and parts of it are not very accessible at all. However, the language, which most will perceive as the primary barrier to ...

Stardust: Being A Romance Within the Realms of Faerie349 reviews
Neil Gaiman, Charles Vess (illustrator)

Vertigo, 1999

charming fairy tale
I'd started reading this one years ago, then put it down for some reason, and my daughter picked it up. She's nagged me on and off ever since to read it. Stardust is a fairy tale, with all that implies. There's an impossible quest, true love, things that aren't what they seem, and the triumph of Good and cleverness over Evil. Tristran Thorn, the product of a human father and, unbeknownst to ...

The Faerie Door2 reviews
B. E. Maxwell

Harcourt Children's Books, 2008

It's a treasure!
Whether 9 or 90, you will find a special place in your heart for Victoria Deveny and Elliot Good, the main characters in B. E. Maxwell's first novel for "young" readers. For us "mature" readers, be prepared to rekindle the love of those first awe-inspiring characters we hold so dear. For me it was Dorothy and Toto, Peter Pan and Wendy and, a little later, Pippi Longstocking. Victoria and ...

Mystic Faerie Tarot18 reviews
Linda Ravenscroft, Barbara Moore

Llewellyn Publications, 2007

Beautiful!!
This tarot deck is now my favorite. While it's rather hard for my amateur self to go thumbing through the book for each card, there IS a book, and a very nice one at that. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. All of them are pretty in their own way, with different faeries for every one. The set also comes with a tarot deck drawstring bag. This makes for a very, very nice gift for ...

Ruler of the Realm (The Faerie Wars Chronicles, Book 3)10 reviews
Herbie Brennan

Bloomsbury USA Children's Books, 2007

Pretty Good
If you liked Faerie Wars, you'll like this one. It continues Henry and Blue's "like me or love me" relationship as they try to save the Faerie Realm from both Blue's uncle and the demon Beleth. Lots of action and surprises that make it an easy entertaining read.
