Digital Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide to AutoCAD6 reviews
Douglas R. Seidler

Fairchild Books & Visuals, 2007

Excellent Getting Started Book
AutoCAD is clearly the industry standard computer aided design software. If you type AutoCad into the search engine at Amazon you get 4,306 books about it. How do you possibly pick one out of this many. Or perhaps a better question is why pick this one. First, this book is specifically oriented to architects and interior designers. That's what the examples show, that's the terminology used. ...

The Holly and the Ivy (Signet Regency Romance)5 reviews
Elisabeth Fairchild

Signet, 1999

A most excellent Christmas feast
I confess I rarely read romance novels, but Ms Fairchild's deft descriptions and beautifully embroidered characters pull me in to her regency world, and I find myself wanting to turn off the phone and languish in the sights and smells of a long-ago Christmas. Best of all, though, are her characters--exquisitely layered, complex, and yet touching and real. Roll over, Jane Austen! Ms. ...

Bina Abling

Fairchild Books & Visuals, 1999

the ONLY book you will ever need as a designer, this is the Bible of fashion illustration
This is The authority on illustrating for fashion. Abling's attention to detail and artistic ability make her a perfect tutor on the topic, and every explanation is clear--it's the sort of thing where you look at the example, and it clicks in your head, "Oh, Now I see!". The book goes over Everything you need, but in case you want to know exactly what is inside, here is a quick summary: Ch ...

Guide to Fashion Sewing9 reviews
Connie Amaden-Crawford

Fairchild Publications, 1993

Worth it for just one technique
While many of the techniques are covered in some of the other sewing textbooks you might have read one techique in particular stands out to me as I have never seen this elsewhere is how to sew a all in one facing professionally. Normally the intructions tell you to leave the shoulder seams open and then "hand sew" them. Not this one it shows you how to do the factory way. If you don't own any ...

World Wise: What To Know Before You Go5 reviews
Lanie Denslow

Fairchild Books & Visuals, 2005

A Must Read for the International Traveler
Full of practical information from beginning to the end. The opening quotes for each chapter "I Wish I'd Known" and "I Wish They Knew" highlight the importance of becoming familiar with a country's culture before traveling or embarking on a business venture outside of the US. I laughed out loud at times ( and hope to avoid some faux pauxs made by others). A good book to read before traveling ...

Fairchild's Dictionary of Textiles4 reviews

Fairchild Books & Visuals, 1996

Excellent information source
This book is great. I don't think I've ever gone to it and not found the word I was looking for. I wish it had a bit more pictures of some of the fabrics and such. But still, it is very good and there isn't one week that goes by that I don't reference it for one reason or another. I especially like that it offers origins of some textile words which is always interesting and helpful to know.

Teaching Romeo and Juliet: A Differentiated Approach4 reviews
Delia DeCourcy, Lyn Fairchild, ...

National Council of Teachers of English, 2007

Excellent Resource for English Teachers
This is an incredibly helpful resource for English teachers with diverse classrooms. I particularly like the Skill Strands lessons for bringing sections of Romeo and Juliet alive in performance. Shakespeare's plays were meant to be brought from the page to the stage - or at least in front of the classroom! - and I found the performance related exercises to be fresh and engaging for my entire ...

Excellent book for families dealing with the issues of gay c
I bought this book when I was thinking of coming out to my parents. Although they never read it, I did. I learned more about the issues of being gay and how to deal with them by reading this book than from any other source. It helped me to understand my parents' fear and anxiety, and helped me to accept myself in a very positive way that has lasted a lifetime. I highly recommend this book to ...
