A stupendous Country French reference guide... it's like having a designer by your side whispering what IS done and not done!
Having my own Interior Design business for over 20 years, and as an A.S.I.D. Allied Member, I only wish that I had this book before now in my office reference library to use as a design tool with my clients! The exemplary photographs serve as a superb "talking-tool" when discussing the many details and design options available to anyone designing a kitchen, whether Country French or another ...

The Essential Guide
This is *the* rails book to get. Even if you're an experienced Rails developer, you'll find loads of great information and advice. The real-world examples are really helpful. Includes an excellent tour through the framework itself. This is one of the few Rails books that covers testing well. Obie is obviously a Jedi.

Does What It Says
This book is intended to be a practical learning tool to get the medical provider to not only be able to state the usual medical phrases, but to have knowledge of the spanish language to actually communicate. It's a tall order, and for a one volume set, it performs well. Starts with the alphabet and "mucho gusto", runs through common verbs, conjugation and vocabulary used in a medical setting. ...

The Real James Patterson Is Back!!
I was so excited to see this new novel by James Patterson. He is one of the rare authors whose books I buy without question. His books that are written with other authors are usually not very well written. It's almost as if he just gives them the plot and allow the other authors to run rampant with the story. When I saw this book, an Alex Cross book at that, I was hooked. It is a true page ...

I WAS CUBA
I had originally bought the book for me, but when I opened the book and saw all the beautiful pictures of what Cuba once was, I knew I had to give this book to my parents. When my mother unwrapped the book on Christmas Day and started to look at the pictures with my dad, tears came from both their eyes. My mother hugged me and could not stop thanking me for the gift. Those of Cuban Heritage, ...

The fame of Alex Cross jumps continents
Reviewed by Narayan Radhakrishnan for RebeccasReads (10/08) In the early nineties James Patterson created a furor in the thriller-writing world with two novels: "Kiss the Girls," and "Along Came a Spider". The two blockbuster movies that followed, starring Morgan Freeman as detective Alex Cross of the LAPD, were also blockbusters. A cult was born, and the Alex Cross thrillers became a ...

A Catholic Answer to the "Purpose Driven Life"
For those seriously seeking to grow in holiness and bring some order to their daily prayer life, I strongly recommend this series. Drawing upon Sacred Scripture, the writings of the saints, and his own life experiences, the author brings together three daily meditations (about five to ten minutes each) that center around the Scripture readings of the Mass that day. Imparted in these ...

More tales of the Iron Fist. Can I get a "Kii-yaahhh!!"?
I've been an Iron Fist guy since the days of POWER MAN AND IRON FIST back in the '80s. In the decades following, dude's popped up now and again, but, disappointingly, Danny Rand barely registered a murmur on the comic book radar, not nearly enough noise to merit another shot at an ongoing series. Until a few years ago, when Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction, and David Aja came along and revitalized Iron ...

Reality-based cloak and dagger stories
I liked the story lines. They seemed realistic with lots of "spy tech" jargon thrown in here and there to make the conversations seem real. Not a lot of gadgetry or outrageous villains. The characters are pretty well developed. The female lead character is interesting enough for a guy to read about without feeling self-concious. The art work changed as the stories unfolded; Tara looks a lot ...

Man of Stone Rock Solid
"Man of Stone" is a truly great Punisher story. It's amazing how Ennis makes such simple characters so complex; it's becuase he weaves different motivations like revenge, money, sex, loyalty, and duty into the story that makes it have such depth. But again, it's still violence Punisher style. Sometimes Ennis uses sex for sex's sake without a point to the story and there is sex here, but not a ...

This is as good a piece of genre fiction that you will ever read. Brilliant, brutal, and haunting. The last page will stay with you for a long time. What they should have used as a the storyline for the upcoming Punisher movie.

Not just for bonefishers
This book is one of the best nonfiction fishing books I've ever read. I'd recommend it to any flyfisher, even those who've never seen a bonefish. Chico Fernandez has an incredible amount of experience and knowledge about bonefish and flyfishing generally, and his writing is clear, interesting, and sometimes hilarious. He is careful to explain why he thinks a certain way about an issue, includes ...

A welcome addition to the South American naturalist's library
The South American countries are characterised by a very high natural diversity coupled with a relative scarcity of biologists and field naturalists, the result of which is a paucity of popular literature which would enable the curious resident or visitor to easily identify what he/she encounters. Admittedly, in recent years, the lack of reliable field guides is being successfully addressed for ...

Worth the expense
If you are looking to follow the liturgical year, but the Liturgy of the Hours has left you feeling like you want something more, then I can't recommend this series more highly. It is very hard-hitting, but not theologically complex. It stresses holiness, and adds praticality (not the other way around). The author is very sacramental, very well-versed in Church teaching and the Fathers of ...

Why people decisions matter, how to make them, and what to do with the people you hire
This interesting book shows you why people decisions are important to your own career and the health of your company. The author, Claudio Fernandez Araoz, admits that these are hard decisions but spends most of the book showing you how to get better at them. He points out on page 89 that three quarters of executives believe their own companies don't recruit highly talented people, don't ...
