I Laughed, I Cried - Three Thoughts
Very rarely does a book inspire me to laugh out loud, much less gasp or start tearing up. This book did all of that (which led to some embarrassing moments on the train) and more. I read it several months ago and still think about it at least once a day - although I do work in an office in Chicago that is facing layoffs, so the parallels are undeniable. But I don't want to sell Ferris short - the ...

Tim and the 4 Hour Work Week are Brilliant
I was just looking at Twitter and for the first time I saw something remarkable: someone with lots of followers and is following no one. Tim Ferriss has 9,313 followers and is following absolutely no one. He does appear to post quite often, so I'm not sure how this figures in to his 4 hour work week, but his single-mindedness and focus is amazing. I don't quite understand the naysayers here. ...

Great series of books
I haven't read this book yet, but I've read others in the series. They're lightweight mysteries set in a small Minnesota town, and the heroine owns a needlework shop. The author always includes a small needlework pattern at the end of the book. I like the series, and this entry is waiting on my shelf now.

Required reading for metal fans
This book should be required reading for any metal fan. The interviews are consistently interesting and give the reader a good sense of the real metal scene of the 80's. This book ain't about fluffy haired poseurs and their power-ballads. Ferris provides everything you ever wanted to know about the record Reign In Blood, and tons of info on thrash metal in general. Even if you don't ...

A WONDERFUL TRIP THROUGH THE ETF FIELD; THANKS RICK.
A wonderful trip through ETFs. Book is well worth the money and I am sure worth more. Yet, while I'd suggest this book for any mutual fund investor, still, the more I read in this area the more I am convinced that I'll just "keep it simple" and stick with Dodge and Cox and Vanguard Funds ("admiral" or otherwise!) and probably Loomis-Sayles. Still, this book should be read by most mutual fund ...

You'll Learn a Lot - Regardless of What You Know Now
I was quite impressed with this book. Although I've had a wireless network for several years, I discovered some very valuable things that helped me to have a far better, more secure wireless network. It made things easy to understand and put in use immediately. This book is for someone new to wireless networks or someone who has some knowledge but is not an expert. Those of us who don't make ...

Perfect explanation of Asset Allocation
Just before reading Richard Ferri's "All About Asset Allocation" I had read William Bernstein's two books on the same topic, "The Intelligent Asset Allocator", and "The Four Pillars of Investing" (both really excellent). Compared to the broad reaching Bernstein books, which bring in a lot of examples from stock market history in explaining Asset Allocation, the Ferri book is a straight up text ...

With Him, In Him, Through Him...
"Jesus With Us: The Gift of the Eucharist (First Communion)" is truly written in simple language to explain the importance and the impact of the Eucharist in the young Catholic's life. In fact, please follow this logic: In the beginning God gave Man wheat and grapes. From those gifts Man made bread and wine. In gratitude for those gifts, Man gives God back a portion of those products. When ...

What a find!
As a homeschooling mother, I have searched for several years to find just the right poetry book. I have children ranging in age from 6-19, and wanted a wealth of poems that would span the broad age range. This book contains over seven hundred poems - so every time we open the book, we discover new treasures. We especially like the rhythm and rhyme that so many of the poems have. Although the ...

A nice addition to the series
I always enjoy this series and this one is no different. Realistic characters, interesting settings and a clever plot--All the makings of a good cozy. In this Betsy gets involved in the world of antique autos and of course, someone dies. It's apparent almost immediatly who did it, but the question is how it was done, since the killer has an impeccable alibi. If you want a good light ...

Fractured Fairy Tale FTW!
Fantastic book! I read it back in middle school the first time, and just reread it now. Still as enchanting as always. The characters are great, you can't help falling in love with Christian and Marigold's lives. This is basically a fairy tale for people who might not be the biggest fans of fairy tales. It's cute, it's refreshing, it's got the obligatory happily-ever-after ending that ...

Discover how to master index and ETF investing.
I value Richard Ferri's books and this one is no exception. While the writing is easy to grasp, it is most complete. The book covers just about everything you need to know to master investing in index funds or ETFs. Although the book is not about allocation (Ferri has a great book on that subject), it does discuss it. He shows how to actually cut risk by using a more aggressive approach. I ...

Wonderful tale, wonderful lessons
I like to read what my children are reading because it gives us common ground for conversation and I like to know what's on their minds. Sometimes this can be tedious, i.e. reading fiction written for primary school kids. The Marigold series is not a tedious task for me. I thoroughly enjoy the engaging, witty writing, and the subtle lessons that resonate from the narratives are good seeds to ...

Oh, please.
A long-lost relative, a hidden treasure map, a murdered matriach leaving behind a quirky will... this story had all the potential to be a page turner. But while this was a well-written book in the language sense, I found the plot extremely difficult to follow. There were too many new characters, too many threads for the mystery to follow, and too many unnecessary passages (like spending PAGES ...
