Steering by Starlight: Find Your Right Life, No Matter What! 21 reviews Martha Beck
Rodale Books, 2008
Best of all the "self-help" books on my shelf Combine profound wisdom with laugh-out-loud humor and you have one of the best "self-help" book I've yet come across. I found particularly insightful the exercise on listing the things I love, then tracing back the events that led to how these things came into my life until I reached the "bad luck" that started the chain of events. Wow! That put the "bad luck" I've had in life into a whole new ...

Skinny Bitch 750 reviews Kim Barnouin, Rory Freedman
Running Press, 2005
This book ROCKS! I read this book cover to cover twice. I am not a vegan or a vegetarian. I've researched a lot of nutrition information over the years due to my own or family members' health issues. This book is so in your face! I loved it! Beyond PC and any psuedo "sensibility" offenses, this book gives real good info, with a much needed kick in the b**t! I could list several more very reputable resources that ...

He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys 819 reviews Greg Behrendt, Liz Tuccillo
Simon Spotlight Entertainment, 2004
Very Empowering! This book is great. Bought it after getting dumped. I'd read a little everytime I started to feel a little down. It would even make me laugh sometimes. It was amazing how so much of it did apply to situations I had been in. It helped to realize that I am worth more and deserve to have someone that really is into me.
I'm definitely keeping this book as a reference on future relationships.

The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) 653 reviews Don Miguel Ruiz
Amber-Allen Publishing, 1997
a lovely little book A friend recommended this book to me and I'm grateful that he did. This is a short, but very profound little book and came to me at just the right time in my journey. If you are not ready to accept and assimilate the information provided, it will be hard to appreciate this book fully. I know that I wouldn't have been ready until now. I have the four agreements posted on my fridge and am ...

Harry Potter Schoolbooks Box Set: From the Library of Hogwarts: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, ... 450 reviews J.K. Rowling
Arthur A. Levine Books, 2001
fantastic beasts & where to find them; quidditch through the ages Both of these books are great for Harry Potter enthusiasts. "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them" is especially neat because there are notes from Harry, Ron, & Hermoine scribbled in the book that will give you a good laugh. I'd love to see more books like these 2, possibly a Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook. Hopefully, J. K. Rowling will also write the encyclopedia that she hinted at.

Retribution: The Battle for Japan, 1944-45 45 reviews Max Hastings
Knopf, 2008
ONE OF THE BETTER CURRENT WORKS IN THIS AREA. This was quite a read and I must say that it has been sometime now that I read a work in which I gleaned so much information from. Like another reviewer here, I am getting a bit long in the tooth, and when I first picked this book up I was a bit discouraged at the weight, length, fine print, etc. But, like the other reviewer, once I read the first few pages, I was hooked.
Retribution, The ...

Great and informative We bought this book to accompany the Butterfly Pavilion from amazon.com. This book was a little above her level of understanding, she is only 2 after all. She did get the gist of it. Great illustrations and concise.

Simple Abundance I was given this book while I was recovering from surgery and found it so comforting and inspiring that I have since purchased it for two friends who are also undergoing hard times with their health or families. The Essential Laws of Fearless Living: Find the Power to Never Feel Powerless Again 46 reviews Guy Finley
Red Wheel/Weiser, 2008
FEARLESS LIVING Guy Finley's book was exceptional. For me it came along at the right time. The book offers valuable insights that are like tiny treasures. I read the book through and now I pick it up and read 1 page or a few pages at a time to digest it. This is a book that when digested in small amounts fills you up. If you are one who has fears in your life "The Essential Laws of Fearless Living will help ...

Let's Find Pokemon! Special Complete Edition: Find Pokemon SP ED 19 reviews Kazunori Aihara
VIZ Media LLC, 2006
Great book for any age Pokemon fan!!! I bought this book for my five year old son's birthday in May 2008. We look at it every night before he goes to sleep and always find something new to talk about. The illustrations are creative and funny. There are many things to discuss with your children in the book. So far, out of all of the tons of books we have for him, this is by far the best book we've purchased for him.

Keeping The Love You Find: A Guide for Singles 32 reviews Harville, PhD Hendrix
Atria, 1993
4 years of practicing what I learned - amazing results!!! I read this book 4 years ago when my marriage of 11 years ended. My goal was to understand what happened in my relationship and make sure I didn't make the same mistake again. This was one of about 20 books I read and literally the only one that I still practice what I learned everyday. I would love to boil it down to the key elements, but I strongly recommend taking this book to heart and ...

Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude: How to Find, Build and Keep a YES! Attitude for a Lifetime of SUCCESS ... 67 reviews Jeffrey Gitomer
FT Press, 2006
Second Best Book The YES!Attitude may be the second best book I have read. I am sure there is one better but I haven't found it yet. I have read it four times and am reading it for the fifth time not because I am slow learner but rather because the lessons are worth learning. I have read most of the reviews of the book on this site and all I can say to those who gave it a poor rating that sometimes people read ...

A Good Man Is Hard to Find and Other Stories 40 reviews Flannery O'Connor
Harvest Books, 1977
Classic American Fiction Straight from the Bible Belt The ten short stories in this collection are definitely masterpieces. Neither too long or too short, the stories suggest whole worlds, entire lives (and deaths) with just the right number of verbal brushstrokes. Never preachy or self-righteous, they are yet infused with a deep, complex spirituality that seems to consist of an eccentric and compelling hybrid of Roman Catholicism's quiet mysticism ...
