Good introductory biology text
This is a great text for anyone taking an introductory college-level biology course. The writing style is simple and easy to understand, unlike many other science textbooks. Despite being very easy to read, it contains a good amount of information.

My new gardening bible
As a fairly new gardener I discovered this book at the library last year and it is wonderful. It really gets into how and when to pinch and prune (and what these terms mean) plants which I now realize is such an important part of how your flowers will look when they bloom...The author mostly talks about tried and true perennials, but we see them in a whole new light, you can control the height of ...

Wow! A wonderfully rich story- my highest recommendation.
I looked at some of the other reviews before writing this. I saw that there were 2 or so out of the 20 or so total that I looked at which were negative. I can't believe anyone wouldn't find this book to be incredible. I know we all have different tastes and all but please- it is just one of those amazing stories that anyone could relate to- life, love, the bonds of friendship, struggles, and ...

Lawn Mowing et al
Pollans description of what is a green thumb and the sysiphean art of mowing reminded me how therapeutic gardening can be and why it cures depression. Thank you Michael for making me look at my roses in a totally different way. You will love this book if you tend to think in pictures and love the art and hard work of gardening.

I liked this book!
I enjoyed this book. It was different from other Patterson books I've read, like Lifeguard, Honeymoom, Cross Books. I did figure it out half way through the story, but parts of ending were still surprising. I have to say I definately enjoyed it.

Wonderful book for intuitive understanding of the subject
In the opening chapter, this book presents a wonderful simplified story of the evolution of plants, from a single cell to modern complex flowers. Both children and adults can gain a unique, intuitive understanding of this process from this explanation. My compliments to the author. He describes each plant family with interesting anecdotes and high quality line drawings. It's the first plant ...

RI Master Gardener Advanced Education
As the RI Master Gardener Advanced Education Coordinator, I have used this book for two years in workshops delivered to our membership. The "Locator Key" and identification system is easy to use (easier than using the weed identification systems) and the drawings and descriptions are clear. Would recommend to anyone interested in identifying wildflowers or "weeds."

The best book for experienced gardeners new to greenhouses
Actually the title says it all. I wish I had time to read lots of books about greenhouse gardening but I don't. An experienced gardener, I'm new to greenhouse gardening and struck gold when I bought this book. It isn't dumbed down and is fast and fun to read. The book doesn't begin at square one but does explain the important differences between gardening in an outside garden and a ...

"Buckle up for this ride"
Wow, where to start? This book is really "out there", it is for the open minded individual. Drunvalo tries to show you by many means, the truth that he found, through sacred history of Egypt, sacred geometry, mathematics, music, several different spiritual traditions. What he did was no easy task, so for that I'll say the book was very well written and very well done. He tried to explain the ...

a journey to the past
Looking at Tasha Tudor's Garden is like taking a journey to another century, surrounded by beauty and peace. Tasha herself wears 19th century clothes, including petticoats, shawls, and head kerchiefs and lives in an antique-appearing house, going about her life with what seems to be a minimal of technology. The photographs that capture her seeing to the goats in the barn in winter, carrying a ...
