Christopher Moore

Simon & Schuster, 2008

Bloodsucking Fiends
Christopher Moore's Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story is the first book in the vampire series with C. Thomas Flood and Jody. It's too bad that I read You Suck: A Love Storyfirst. However, even though I knew what happened at the end of this book, it was still a great read. ***Spoiler Alert*** C. Thomas Flood arrives in San Francisco from Indiana with stars in his eyes about his future as a ...

Jeffrey Gitomer

Collins Business, 2008

Sales Bible
This is a great book for anyone in sales. It helps you "come back to basics" and realize why you got in this profession in the first place. Its not a book to just sit down and read it is more for reference or I like to read it before big clients to get me on the right page!

The 6th Target144 reviews
James Patterson, Maxine Paetro

Little, Brown and Company, 2007

Best one in series so far
I love how such a diverse group of people read these books. I totally disliked the 5th book because it was disjointed and made no sense, but others loved it. In this one, I felt Patterson tied everything together in the end with great stories through out. I loved this one. Can't wait to see if Schitzo man comes back later as he seemed to have his eyes set on Lindsey at the end of his book.

Donald H. McCunn

Great Book!
This is a terrific book! I've just started working my way through it and I'm impressed. I've used other methods before, but this one seems workable.

A great addition to Patterson's story line.

Earthquake in the Early Morning (Magic Tree House #24) (A Stepping Stone Book(TM))13 reviews
Mary Pope Osborne

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

Awesome!
I have had my share reading books with my two younger children for their AR goals in school, and I must say this series is just awesome. They are short enough to read one per night and test on the next day! Very interesting as well, even for an adult! Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

The Story of a Marriage: A Novel32 reviews
Andrew Sean Greer

Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2008

A multi-layered shimmer that bedazzles
Andrew Sean Greer is a riot of talent. He carves his words with such precision that one can have no choice but to be surrender to his writing. His works, including Story of a Marriage, always deal with the subtle underplay of the human mind, and ultimately reveal the fragility of our existence. I don't want to reveal the stories - a lot of reviewers have already done that. Besides, with this ...

The Genius: How Bill Walsh Reinvented Football and Created an NFL Dynasty4 reviews
David Harris

Random House, 2008

Coach of the Decade (the 1980's)
Bill Walsh was the brilliant, insecure coach who won immortality with the the San Francisco 49ers in the 1980's. Mr. Harris follows his career from the Bengals of Paul Brown to Stanford (and other stops in-between) to the 49ers. He perfected an air attack that became known as the West Coast Offense and drafted the players to carry it out (Joe Montana, Dwight Clark, Jerry Rice, etc). The book is ...

Not Always So: Practicing the True Spirit of Zen27 reviews
Shunryu Suzuki, Edward Espe Brown, ...

HarperOne, 2003

Be a frog...
Outstanding book with insight into a true Zen master. Written after the passing of Suzuki Roshi by one of his students, it is an insight into a beautiful man. Not always so is a simple book with a single teisho or talk every couple of pages. This allows you to read one talk and digest it without having to delve into any serious brain bending. Suzuki Roshi presents the most complex ideas of ...

San Francisco Giants: 50 Years: 50 Years6 reviews

Insight Editions, 2008

A San Francisco Giants GEM of a book......
If your a loyal S.F. Giants lover, you'll need to get this fantastic history book. (with simply great pictures) It covers the Giants days at the old S.F. Seals ball park at 16th and Bryant. I use to get there on the Muni for I think 5 or 10 cents each way. But more than a fan gem, it covers the Giants MLB history like no other book. A great gift, should be displayed on a coffee table etc., etc.

San Francisco Then & Now (Then & Now)14 reviews
Bill Yenne

Thunder Bay Press, 2002

Welcome to America's Most Conservative City!
I'm not using "conservative" in the current political sense, obviously. Everybody knows that John McCain has less than a snowball's chance in Gomorrah of winning in SF. I using the term conservative in its root meaning, something like "saving what was valued in the past." Preservation and conservation have the same Latin root. San Francisco has conserved more of its past than any western American ...

Think and Grow Rich371 reviews
Napoleon Hill

Ballantine Books, 1987

Tried and True
The fundamentals that Napolean Hill wrote about are time tested and have yet to be matched for innovative and practical concepts. Well ahead of his time and the model for countless number of books since, why settle for a knock off when you can rely on the original genius of Mr. Hill.

Rolling Stone 1,000 Covers: A History of the Most Influential Magazine in Pop Culture5 reviews
Rolling Stone, Jann Wenner

"Harry N. Abrams, Inc.", 2006

Still rolling along
If you have the original large 1998 edition this latest book is just a continuation, though smaller in size, up to the thousandth edition in May/June 2006. I was rather impressed with the earlier book except for the silly tiny type dates and photo credits for each cover, amazingly set in four point. Fortunately someone has realised that tiny type is not really readable in a domestic lighting ...

The Zuni Cafe Cookbook: A Compendium of Recipes and Cooking Lessons from San Francisco's Beloved Restaurant29 reviews
Judy Rodgers, Gerald Asher

W. W. Norton & Company, 2002

Awesome Cookbook
I was eager to purchase this book after tasting the best "Roasted Rosemary Potatoes" I have ever eaten in my life at a friends house. I am a simple cook, but love good food. This book is beautifully written, and does not intimidate me. I feel as if I can make every recipe and make it successful because Judy Rodgers will walk you through each step. I have not tried a recipe yet, but will soon. ...

Zagat San Francisco Bay Area Restaurants 2009 (Zagatsurvey: San Francisco/ Bay Area Restaurants)

Zagat Survey, 2008

The surveyors are 54% women and 46% men. 52% are in their 20s and 30s and 48% are 40 and over. No matter the economic climate, San Francisco's appetite for lively dining destinations continues unabated, inspiring ever bolder ventures. For every notable closing, there's another restaurateur waiting in the wings, often joined by an expensive team of architects and designers, and ZAGAT is always there to note the changes.
