The Fran with Four Brains (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist) 7 reviews
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2006
Jim Benton does it again! This is the sixth book in the Franny K. Stein series and it is just as great as all the others. My 10 year old daughter has been reading Franny K. Stein books for the past several years and has enjoyed this one tremendously. Highly recommended.

The Invisible Fran (Franny K. Stein Mad Scientist) 7 reviews Jim Benton
Topeka Bindery, 2005
Let Me Make Myself Clear (also title of chapter 9) - This is Very, Very Good! The Invisible Fran is the 3rd book in the Franny K. Stein series. I got this book because I'm a huge fan of the invisible genre and basically read anything where someone turns invisible but after reading this I will definitely check out the rest of, if this book is anything to go by probably best junior fiction series written in a long time!
Franny is fascinated by science and is in fact a ...

The Frandidate (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist) 2 reviews
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2009
Fantastic fun Like the other six books in the Franny K. Stein library, The Frandidate is another marvelous invention born from the mind of Jim Benton. We never grow tired of Franny's crazy antics and creations in my household, which is especially impressive when you consider that I have two sons, and well, Franny is a girl. I guess mad science is truly a topic enthralling to both genders. In this seventh ...

Frantastic Voyage (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist) 8 reviews
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2005
Benton is hitting on all cylinders... ...my 8 year old daughter simply devours all his books -- she practically has them memorized...she sits and reads them to her 6 year old sister who also loves them...maybe the writing doesn't quite rank with Charles Dickens but he sure stimulates an appetite for reading.

Attack of the 50-ft Cupid (Franny K. Stein: Mad Scientist) 6 reviews Jim Benton
Scholastic, Inc., 2006
Daughter Loves Franny This is the first young chapter reader series I purchased for my 6 year old, and she loves it. The story is about Franny, a girl that is learning to adapt to other kids and their lifestyles. She is very awkward in the process, of course, as she is a mad scientist.
Franny loves science, and underlying this story is the theme that it's ok for a girl to be a geek. Don't be worried about the "mad ...

Folk Keeper 27 reviews Franny Billingsley
Topeka Bindery, 2003
The Perfect Book I know there are a lot of books about girls pretending to be boys ( like the books by Tamora Pierce), but this one blows them all away, until only The Folk Keeper stands in all its glory on a podium made of gold.
Now, I did not think I would ever read a perfect fantasy book. Either the character is not fully developed or the writing style is boring/cheesy or it is bogged down with ...

Lucy, the Loch Ness Llama 5 reviews Franny Syufy
Xlibris Corporation, 2007
Lucy the Loch Ness Llama Lucy the Loch Ness Llama belong in every child's (and grown-up's) collection of children's books. I have some very special ones that were mine when I was little, that I read to my daughter when she was small, and that will be passed on to another generation of children. This very special, and beautifully illustrated, story has been added to that collection.
Not only is it a compelling story, ...

Franny B. Kranny, There's a Bird in Your Hair 9 reviews Harriet Goldhor Lerner, Susan Goldhar
Walker Books Ltd, 2002
Dare to be Different Franny B Kranny loved her long red frizzy hair even if it was always getting stuck in things and causing trouble. So when her mother drags her to the hairdresser before a family reunion, she isn't happy. The hairdresser does his best to pin it up and make it look neat, while Franny schemes to undo his work as soon as she's out of the chair. But as she leaves the salon, a bird lands on her ...

Well Wished 11 reviews Franny Billingsley
Demco Media, 2000
This is a Must Read Book The Well Wished by Franny Billingsley is a five star book. It was Great. The thing I liked best about this book was how one girl wanted to share her traditions with her friend that was handicapped. There were no illustrations in this book but I could imagine the pictures in my head because of the descriptions. I didn't learn anything new from this book, but it was great anyway I would recommend ...

The Gold Standard In the climax of their phenomenal careers, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won the 1984 Olympic gold medal in Ice Dancing and set the standard against which every dance team since will forever be measured. My second-grader's favorite series My 7yo daughter loves this series. She has read every book in the series multiple times, and she follows us around the house reading the funny parts. Franny K. Stein tickles her funny bone and inspires a love of science. Her favorite book is #6, but she likes this one, too.

A book that your young reader is sure to love! Sugar and spice and everything nice? That's NOT Franny K. Stein! Franny is a little girl who is also a mad scientist, one who loves bats and monsters and crackling electrical gizmos. But, Franny is tired of being the outsider at school and so she takes on making friends as an experiment. Oh, but deep down, Franny is still Franny...and that is a good thing!

Monster Maker (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist) 1 review
Simon Scribbles, 2007
Great for Boys and Girls My eight year old son loves the Franny K Stein Series. They are funny, easy to read chapter books. He can finish one in less than an hour. The monster aspect attracts boys, while the fact that it is a little girl makes it entertaining for young girls as well. He received the whole series for Valentines Day and we are anticipating any new releases. The Wiley and Grampa Series from Kirk Scroggs is ...

Blueprints and Bloopers (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist Activity Book) 1 review
Simon Scribbles, 2006
Great for trips My son really enjoys the humor of these books and they appeal to his "mad" scientist side. The activity book is pretty standard for a kids fun and games book, but from a science angle that my son loves. This was a great book for in the car on a trip (after a dose of dramamine)

Franny & Zooey 222 reviews J. D. Salinger
Warner Books
Fun Fanaticism It was always a little embarrassing to admit that I hadn't read Franny and Zooey. In the literary world, I guess it's kind of the equivalent of a beauty queen admitting she wears dentures. Somewhere in between that admission and the other one (that I found `Catcher in the Rye' tolerably okay but not a masterpiece) those who saw me in equal standing begin to hee and haw and slap their knees from ...

50 Games to Play With Your Cat 3 reviews Jackie Strachan
TFH Publications, 2007
I Love This Book I've always said that cats are more likely to play with the box it came in rather than the toy inside. Therefore, when I was asked to write the forward for this book, I was interested and excited. As the text and photos came to me, it became apparent that this book was going to be all I'd hoped for. It's a fun read, and I encourage readers to put their imaginations to work and add their own ...
