Great Summer Read
I think some of the reviews are too critical. This is a fun book that I truly enjoyed. The pages practically turned themselves. I though the book was a great summer read...I recommended it to all my friends.

Must read book
The book, Of Mice and Men, has to be one of the good books I've read in a long time. The good parts about it are at the start, you get to meet the characters on how they act and the way they get along. Of course, there are some bad parts in books. One of them is when one of the bunk mates picks a fight with Lennie, because he is taller than him! Of Mice and Men, Lennie Small and George Milton ...

One of the best I've read this year!
Snow Flower & the Secret Fan was chosen by my book club and I am glad for this, otherwise I might have missed out on this treasure. This is a beautifully written book about the strength of women during a period of time that they were believed to be as weak or important as a family pet nowadays. Nor were they treated much better! However, this novel does a fabulous job at illustrating that ...

Splendid is right...
Like "Kite Runner," I just couldn't put it down. And, like "Kite Runner," when I was reading it I thought it was the best story I'd ever read. It's right up there. There's something about Hosseini's writing style--on top of the incredible stories he tells--that is perfect without ever being obtrusive. He just pulls you in from the first page, and you're in another world. Can't wait for more.

Delightful and believable
I won't reiterate the plot because that's already been done. A friend sent me 2 of Jennifer Weiner's books, "Goodnight Nobody" and this book, "Good In Bed", is the first I've read so far. I found it hilarious, touching, romantic, tragic and most of all, believable. I consider myself lucky that I've not had to deal with weight issues, but Jennifer Weiner's writing style is so superb, I could ...

Simply...unbelievable!
Being an avid fan of the previous three books, I eagerly awaited "Unbelievable." When I finally got it, I devoured the book in one day! Ms. Shepard's writing is excellent like always, and there are plenty of plot twists to keep you reading til the end. I thought I had figured out who A was several times in the beginning, but none of those theories were correct. That being said, I figured ...

Well written book much like three stones
This is well written book in which the author attempts to be honest about his life to this point. Granted that it is sometimes heavy reading, the book tells a perfectly logical and realistic tale about life in Afganistan during the time whent the Taliban ruled the country. The characters rue the fact that the "old monarchy" was no more. Of course they were also the leading people in ...

Better than the First . . .
This sequel to The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) is very much more of the same: A pop version of greek mythology, set in the life of a contemporary teenager. The order matters, so you should certainly start with the first book in the series. If you have already read that one, this sequel will not disappoint: Indeed, by not having to lay out the rather ...

an amazing novel
I found this to be such a good read. The characterization was magnificent! The tale was so intrigueing, and I stayed up into the night-I had to find out what happened next. I loved the description, also. It was so good-I could place myself in the story. The author described everything thoroughly-to an exactness of storytelling. There was not any vagueness-all was crystal clear. I would ...

House Of Night - Where do I sign up?
I was amazed by the world that both of the Cast's have constructed in this series. The premise is quite basic - a school for potential Vamps. A college where those who have been 'marked' turn to in order to be integrated into the world that they may very soon be entering. The fact that as the story progresses you see that nothing is ever as it seems, and that although they are Vampires they are ...

Marvelous (fancy for great) & hilarious (fancy for so funny)!
Really enjoyed this one, possibly the best of Nancy for us (--this is our third Nancy-book). I was surprised to find the Nancy stories so enjoyable. Was pleasantly surprised too to find this as a reader, and it has great story. My girls both like these (& this one), my non-fancy Tom-boy and my girl who likes to tell me that she likes girly stuff and boys stuff too! "I like Efry-ding!"

The Other is gripping
I was drawn into this book from the first paragraph. I thought the characters were well-defined, the plot intriguing, and the conversations natural and convincing. Maybe part of it was that the narrator was my age and we have interests in common such as running, literature, travel, and hiking. I have already recommended it to several people.

This One Is Fun
Three or four times a year, despite the odds against it happening, I end up really enjoying a book that in theory just should not have worked for me at all. Belong to Me was one of those books, the first one in that category this year, in fact. Two words sum up the reluctance I had about reading the book: Chick Lit. The book synopsis screamed "Chick Lit" to me loudly and clearly but the novel ...

A Powerful and Compelling Book
Steve Lopez is a newspaper columnist for the LOS ANGELIS TIMES. A few years back, he had a difficult time finding a topic for his column and did what is natural to his profession: searched for the ideal story. Lopez is not a "sunny day at the beach" kind of writer, and looked for a subject at a place that could be the most notorious place in the United States--Los Angeles' Skid Row. On Skid Row ...

Rekindling the Connection
This is my favorite Hemingway work by far, although I've also enjoyed some of his other books. To me, this one stands out because Hemingway's prose perfectly matches the grace and silent strength of Santiago, who is one of the most endearing fictional characters I've ever encountered. True, there isn't a lot of plot here, and I remember thinking it was slow when I read it in high school (even ...

The Mysterious Benedict Society, a group of four children created to thwart the plans of the evil genius Ledroptha Curtain, is fresh off their great victory. The "brainswept" are slowly having their memories returned and everything seems like it should be getting back to normal. It should be the perfect happy ending, yet happy endings are rarely so simple... All is not well for the Mysterious ...

Rules
Rules is an excellent book. Rule is about a twelve year old girl named Cathrine who has a brother named David who has autism. Cathrine tries to teach him rules like " No toys in the fish tank and "Keep your pants on in public." I think Rules is a wounderful book to read beacuse it's about Cathrine trying to make friends and a girl moves in next door and tries to make friends. If you want to know ...

a ripping yarn
I loved Enger's earlier "Peace Like a River" so I was very excited to read this new novel. His use of language is delightful and the characters are incredibly vivid and appealing, even the bad guy. If you're looking for a great story with a lot of humanity and humor, this book is for you.
