Frommer's Portable Aruba8 reviews
Ken Lindley

Frommer's, 2001

DON'T HESITATE!
This was not my first time using a Frommer's travel guide for the purpose of having the best time possible in an unknown place. I purchased the book a day before my Aruba trip, read it on the plane and actually kept it in our rental car for consistant reference. As far as I'm concerned - these travel books tell it like it is, good or bad. I can't imagine anyone giving this book less than 5 ...

Cheryl Leas, Cheryl Farr Leas

MacMillan Publishing Company, 1999

Frommer's 2000 Portable New York City
This New York City compact guide belongs in any visitor's purse or pocket. The guide offers helpful websites which I accessed for information on ticket purchases and future events, as well as offering practical advice on personal safety issues. There are detailed descriptions and directions to the city's main attractions, including the subway numbers to get there. The author has shopping tips ...

Frommer's 2000 Portable Las Vegas (Frommer's Portable Las Vegas)3 reviews
Mary Herczog

MacMillan Publishing Company, 1999

An exciting trip
Neither my husband nor myself had ever taken a trip out to Las Vegas before. We had heard tons about it from various other friends that had been and were overwhelmed trying to plan out exactly what the two of us wanted to see or visit. The portable guidebook came in very handy when we were trying to figure out what entertainment and sights we had to choose from other than the obvious....casinos.

Frommer's Zion & Bryce Canyon National Park3 reviews

Frommer's, 1998

A wonderful overview of the parks
This guide proved to be an excellent resource during our recent trip to the Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Highlights of this book include how comprehensive it was despite its relative brevity, the easy-to-read writing style, and its off-the-beaten-path recommendations. The authors discussed all the subjects I was looking for in a travel book. They covered the usual "where to stay" and ...

Darwin Porter, Danforth Prince

Frommer's, 2003

I was able to make the most of my time
I found everything I was looking for and more in this small, easy-to carry guide. Not only did I find exact prices for hotels and restaurants, I also learned about low country cooking, the architecture in Charleston, and a brief history. All of this was in this little guide that I could fit in my purse!

Frommer's Portable Washington D.C (Frommer's Portable Washington, D.C.)1 review
Elise Ford, Elise Hartman Ford

Frommer's, 2000

washington in a day
well if you are very limited on time the best way to see washington has to be the tourmobile you can pick it up at union station and get on and off all day for 25 bucks a person (35 for a 2 day pass) this guide was a buy and easy to carry. you can go to all the major monuments for free and the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier was impresive and moving this book and all the ...

Frommer's Portable Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard2 reviews
Laura M. Reckford

Frommer's, 2003

Great Little Guide
This is a great little guide for Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. It has all the essentials (eating, sleeping, travels), but also has those little insights about when and where and why. It is small in size (not like some other "small" books that are three inches thick), easy to read, and certain to be useful.

Frommer's Portable Chicago1 review
Elizabeth Canning Blackwell

Frommers, 2004

This is the One to Buy
I read several travel books on Chicago from the library, and I felt that the regular Frommer's guide to Chicago was the best of them all. However, I bought "Frommer's Portable Chicago" because the smaller size makes it easy to take with you and it includes all the most important information - including the insightful reviews - from the regular version. This is an excellent book.

Frommer's Portable Frankfurt1 review
Darwin Porter

Frommers, 2001

A Dandy Guide To A Dandy Town
Frankfurt probably doesn't rank very high on the must see lists of the many people who vacation in Germany every year, and that's a shame, because this great city is definitely worth a couple of days. Many people however, visit Frankfurt on business each year, because the city has an incredible trade fair facility: the Messe. The Frankfurt Book Fair, founded in the late 1400s, is the world's ...

Frommer's Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks4 reviews

MacMillan Publishing Company, 1998

Reliable guide
One of the best travel guides I have ever used (and I have traveled all over the world). As of the summer of 1998, when I visited Yellowstone, the guide was highly accurate and offered very useful ideas on where to hike, where to stay, where to eat, etc. The authors clearly know Yellowstone intimately, and should be complimented for imparting their enthusiasm about this marvelous park. My ...

Frommer's Yosemite & Sequoia/King's Canyon National Park2 reviews

Frommer's, 1998

as good as a pocket guide can get
Yosemite is one of my favorite places. I fall in love with this majestic park on my first trip there, and try to spend at least several days every year hiking Yosemite trails. I also like Sequoia and Kings Canyon, which are great parks for hikers and backpackers. Since I am not new to these parks, I was curious how the judgement and advice of this book would agree with my own impressions. I was ...

Frommer's Portable Cayman Islands8 reviews
Darwin Porter, Danforth Prince

Frommers, 2003

Pre-Trip Review
We love the book so far. Really helps us to plan when to go, what our best options are, and how to go about arranging the best plans. Great compact size, but still full of details about accommodations, diving, snorkeling, and transportation. I'd get a Frommer's Compact Guide to every place we visit if I could. My wife insists on Eyewitness Guides whenever possible, because of the incredible ...

Frommer's Portable Aruba, Bonaire, & Curacao (Frommer's Portable)6 reviews
Christina Colón

Frommers, 2007

First Trip to Aruba
I found this book very helpful and easy to read. This was my first trip to Aruba and it provided me with a wealth of knowledge. My traveling companions were passing it around and reading it on the plane and once we got there. This saved us asking the front desk innumerable questions.I felt quite confident leaving the US to vacation in Aruba.

Frommer's Portable Portland6 reviews
Karl Samson, Jane Aukshunas

Frommers, 2002

Great Pocket-Sized Guide To Portland
FROMMER'S PORTABLE PORTLAND is a great book about Portland. It has all of the information- i.e. where the best sightseeing, dining, nightlife, shopping, and outdoor activities are- that you'd find in a full-sized book, but in a volume that you can take on the bus in your carry-on to tune out difficult people. In other words, this is a small book with all the information of a much larger volume, ...

Frommer's Portable Dublin3 reviews
Robert Emmet Meagher, Mark Meagher, ...

Frommer's, 1999

Well Worth It
I find the Frommer's guides to be very helpful for my trips to Ireland especially. This one is perfect if you plan on visiting Dublin. As in other Frommer guides this book starts with the "Best Of" in Dublin, how to get there and what you'll need when planning your trip. It then goes on to getting to know Dublin, places to stay, places to eat and drink, attractions, shopping and night life. ...

Frommer's Portable California Wine Country7 reviews
Erika Lenkert

Frommer's, 2004

Trip to wine country
I'm planning a trip to wine country and needed some information, not an encyclopedia's worth. This was concise and will be handy to take with me. It is laid out geographically which will make it that much easier to see the wineries that I want to see.

Frommer's Portable Maine Coast (1st Ed.)3 reviews
Wayne Curtis

Frommer, 1997

Great little book on the Maine coast
I read a lot of travel books of all sizes, and I've traveled to Maine quite a bit. This little Frommer's guide is the best I've found for those who want an introduction to the Maine coast that they can carry around with them on their trip. On my first trip to Maine, I used it in tandem with a larger, more comprehensive book (Maine: An Explorer's Guide), which I consulted ahead of time and left at ...

Frommer's Tahiti & French Polynesia (Frommer's Portable)3 reviews
Bill Goodwin

Frommers, 2006

Frommer's Tahiti & French Polynesia
Finding this book in Dallas at a major bookstore was next to impossible.Seems like there is little demand for books on the South Pacific. This may be due to expensive airfare to the area and lack of crusie ships traveling in those waters. The book contains the regular Frommer sections and much of it we have "tossed" since we are traveling on a cruise ship. Dining out, hotels, ect. won't be of ...
