The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 662 reviews Douglas Adams
Del Rey, 1995
One of my all-time favorite books I love the way that Adams plays with language. Often time I find myself re-reading a passage just to play the words over again in my head. And just as interesting are the IDEAS in this series: planets where mattresses grow, cows that are raised to want to be eaten, poetry so horrible is can kill you, entire alien invasion forces eaten by small dogs, etc. I always read the entire series at once ...

Voyages to the Stars and Galaxies (with CD-ROM and InfoTrac) 1 review Andrew Fraknoi, David Morrison, ...
Brooks Cole, 2003
Great text for an introductory class or interested amateur "Voyages to the Stars and Galaxies" by Fraknoi, Morrison, and Wolff is one of the best introductory astronomy books I have come across. The book is marketed as a textbook for a (non-science major) college course, and as such it works great. But I also think the book would be ideal for anyone who is interested in astronomy, and wants something more substantial than what is offered in most ...

Stars and Galaxies Michael A. Seeds

Fascinating and engaging, this text will help you answer two fundamental questions: What are we? How do we know? Crafting a story about astronomy, Seeds shows you how to ask questions to gradually puzzle out the beautiful secrets of the physical world and our place in ...

Citizen of the Galaxy 64 reviews Robert A. Heinlein
Pocket, 2005
Another Classic from the Dean of Science Fiction Writers Robert A Heinlein was not called the "Dean of Science Fiction Writers" for nothing: like most (if not all) of his other books, in "Citizen of the Galaxy" he takes a concept - in this case slavery: deconstructs and analyzes it in many different ways, and presents his thoughts on each aspect of it to us in the context of a compelling and entertaining story.
The story centers on Thorby: a boy ...

Average I would recommend the Internet Galaxy to a person who is conducting or going to conduct a research about the Internet because the author provides tons of information in depth which could be a good background for that person. This could be a huge source of reference as well. Some chapter is interesting such as the Culture of the Internet that let us know more about the characteristic of network ...

Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy 176 reviews Matthew Reinhart
Orchard Books, 2007
Star Wars Pop-Up Book This product was in mint condition, pckaged professionally and shipped quickly. Overall very pleased with purchase, especially considering the money I saved orderering it online. The book itself is very entertaining for children and adults alike. I would be careful letting a child under the age of 4 get a hold of it alone as the pop-ups are numerous and intricate. They would probably destroy the ...

The Best Introductory Astronomy Book I've Ever Read The best astronomy book I've ever read. Even more than that, this is the best science book I've ever read. The writing style combined with the excellent illustrations make even fairly complex subject simple and understandable. Even their descriptions of things like relativity are so simple that anyone can understand them.
Now the book is in its fourth edition, bringing it up to date with:

Galaxy in Flames (Horus Heresy) 24 reviews Ben Counter
Games Workshop, 2006
THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!! I am an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction and I can tell you there is no sci-fi like the Horus Heresy. This series is loaded with awesome descriptions of brutal combat. The conversations between characters are philosophical. Reading this is more entertaining than watching a great movie or playing your favorite video game.
