one of the greatest TPB's of all time
If you like comic book deities even a slight bit, or even modern or ancient human deities, then this book is for you. Struggles are all of cosmic proportion. I love the reference to all Earth's ancient religion gods as gods who are but a drop in the bucket compared to some of the forces at work here. Even though its a comic book, it tells it like it is. Us, as human beings, can lay no claim ...

Even Younger Than Captain Kirk
I recently read the book that described the first mission ever commanded by the Captain that will always come to mind first, Captain James T. Kirk, and his starship The Enterprise. Even though I have been a fan of the various television series and the movies that have followed, the book I mention was the first Star Trek novel I had ever read. The author was familiar to me as she had written for ...

Sad History of American Involvement in Korea War
Reading Marshall's excellent description of the first ignominious defeat of U.S. and South Korean forces by the Chinese "volunteers" is a painful experience. It was depressing to read of the incompetence of senior commanders who failed to adequately prepare their troops for military operations north of the 38th parallel, to recognize the arrival of significant Chinese, not North Korean, forces, ...

Good escapist fare
One thing I like about this series is how each book is different from the others. The portrayals of military life are good, and the foibles of the high brass are well played out. Good sense of humor where needed. Books are rather gorey, so not for the faint of heart. But lots of fun. Good for a quick weekend read.

Worthwhile if you're looking to master the game
This is a nicely done effort, well illustrated and complete. For me the most useful feature was the maps of the hidden "bonus levels" in each realm, indicating the best path through each and thus allowing me to unlock the secret characters. Being able to unlock these characters is essential if, like me, you want to be able to say you took the game to the limit. (On the other hand, if I had to use ...

An inspirational tale of courage, daring, and absolute commitment to ideals of freedom.
Gauntlet is the true story of five dedicated anti-Communist young men whose epic journey and struggle in the 1950's could have altered the course of the Cold War in Europe. Though grounded heavily in historical testimony and evidence, Gauntlet reads like a novel, as it follows the group's fugitive attempt to deliver a message from a Czechoslovak general to U.S. authorities. An inspirational tale ...

Law Firms Take Note: Change Is Long Overdue
A good, hard look at today's law firms, Ending the Gauntlet: Removing the Barriers to Women's Success in the Law tackles tough issues comprehensively and fairly. Lots to recommend about this book, but particularly helpful for those who care about law firm profitability are the practical recommendations Lauren Stiller Rikleen makes in the second part of the book.
