not five, 6 stars!
Don't let the title turn you off, though I could've come up with something better: perhaps The Slow-Twitch Shuffle? Nonetheless -- I want to give this book 6 stars! I am no longer confused about food -- fat, protein, and carbohydrates -- or calories, colesterol, glucose, insulin, starch, refined sugar, how stored fat is gained and lost, the type and amount of exercise most people need, or ...

This one really works!
I bought this book a year or two ago along with another GI book and read them both. It was easy to incorporate the plan into my nutritional activities, even though I did so half-heartedly. Within the past six months, people have been asking me if I was on a diet or if I had lost weight. I personally did not notice; the change of seasons and wardrobe switch precluded my observation from looser ...

Nummy!
Easy recipes, easy to understand how it works with the Glycemic Index concept, and good for diabetics and hypoglycemia as well. Love the cottage cheese and tomato breakfast, as well as the Saturday Eggs, and Dieter's Delight (egg whites packed full of veg, and only 28 calories!). The Chicken Francoise with Fine Herbs was amazing, and far simpler than I thought. Some recipes aren't so ...

The dish on sugar!
Was diagnosed with Type II last December and after the anger and denial phase, I finally got busy and read everything I could find on diabetes. This book - hands down - was the easiest to understand and completely turned my negative attitude into a 'can do' approach to adapting the principals of GI living. With a sensible progression of information, it gives you the tools and motivates you to ...

The Easy GL diet handbook
Please be aware of the word "handbook". This "book" was small--about 5x7 size. In searching for a reference to assist me in recording in my food diary, I thought this would do so. The foods are listed in five columns--the "food", the "GI value", the "amount of food in grams containing 50 grams of carbohydrates", then "carbohydrate per 100 grams of food" and then the "GL" column--not "one ...

Taking the fear out of diabetes
Before I got this book I was working in the dark as far as my newly diagnosed condition was concerned. I had advice from doctors but could not gauge the real effects of food on my sugar levels. This has released me from what was seeming like a lifetime of imprisonment within a very narrow diet. Now I eat ice cream occasionally and cream, knowing that the rest of my diet will balance out any ...

70 Pounds and Counting....
This diet has really worked for me and I want to add some of my observations. There are some pretty comprehensive reviews on here already so I will not summarize anything from the book to minimize repetition. Stats on me: I started in May of 05 and lost 5 pounds a week for the first four weeks. I only lost so much because I was well over 200lb (as a 5'5'' female). After that it was more ...

Finally, a non-diet diet that works for vegetarians!
Let me preface the following by stating that I've never been a "dieter", I've always just tried to eat as healthy as I can. And, as a life-long vegetarian I'd never really been able to participate in most fad-diets anyway (I need my carbs!). But, I'd noticed over the past year that even though I work out pretty consistently, my metabolism was changing and I had dramatic drops in blood sugar that ...

The New Glucose Revelution
This book helped me to eat right. I was a pre-diabetic weighing 235 lbs. Since following this book's guidelines in August, 2007, my blood glucose now is less than a 100, my weight has dropped to 188 pounds, and my trouser size has gone from a 42 to a 36. I highly recommend this book to anyone with heart trouble, diabetes, to anyone wanting to live a health lifestyle.
