Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2005

Grafton is the best!
When a friend was recently going through a rough time, I loaned her the whole series of Grafton's Kinsey Millhone books. My friend told me they allowed her to escape from the stress until she could handle it better. Unfortunately, she also told me that Kinsey has replaced me as her best friend!

R Is For Ricochet (Kinsey Millhone Mysteries)44 reviews
Sue Grafton

Berkley, 2005

I always enjoy these!
I am truly quite fond of Sue Grafton's work and I believe this is one of her better mysteries (letting you know my opinion that all our good). Kinsey Milhone is a character who has all the right sass and detail to make her extremely and believably human.

Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2005

Loved It!
I recently started reading the Kinsey Milhone series and this one so far is the best. On the first page, we learn that her client, Bobby, is dead and that she's never worked for a dead man before. The story moves quickly, and it was hard to put down.

The Declaration of Independence and Other Great Documents of American History 1775-1865 (Dover Thrift ...14 reviews

Dover Publications, 2000

The basic founding documents of American democracy
One can take two opposing approaches to this kind of volume. One can celebrate the treasures that are in it, or one can lament all the treasures it lacks. I prefer the first approach. For any volume which contains , The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Washington's First Inaugural and Farewell Speeches, Lincoln's First and Second Inaugurals and the Gettysburg Address contains the ...

"E" is for Evidence (The Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries)43 reviews
Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2005

..
Ah, but I can't help but love it when Sue Grafton takes on the deeper emotions of Miss Millhone. Here is the Christmas scene, tragically spent alone (you can't think Kinsey likes playing the loner all the time, can you?) and interrupted by the reappearance of her ex-husband. The real and obligatory mystery comes in with good ol' fashioned arson--for which Kinsey is blamed. It opens up a ...

T is for Trespass (Kinsey Millhone Mysteries)194 reviews
Sue Grafton

Putnam Adult, 2007

Grafton Is Back!
I loved this newest tale in the Kinsey Millhone series. Like a lot of readers, I had begun to think Sue Grafton had run her course and couldn't come up with anything exciting and new. Trespass was a great read. I couldn't put it down. I sincerely hope the rest of the alphabet keeps pace.

The Assassin: A Novel18 reviews
Stephen Coonts

St. Martin's Press, 2008

Another great novel from Coonts
The Assassin is a great action thriller. Stephen Coonts is excellent at keeping his readers hooked in to the plot. The second half of the book is absolutely relentless action whereas the first half sets it all up nicely. All the plot points drop into place emphatically. Well recommended if you like political/action/violent thrillers.

"B" is for Burglar (The Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries)65 reviews
Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2005

Another Winner for Grafton
This book was hard to put down once I started reading it. The characters are well developed and the depth of description of locales is amazing. Having visited Santa Barbara, I can almost see the places that Kinsey speaks of when speaking of "Santa Teresa". Very enjoyable reading.

"D" is for Deadbeat (The Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries)30 reviews
Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2005

Delightfully horrible
Dealing with a typical loser? It's not like Kinsey doesn't face enough lowlifes in her career. And it all began with a lousy check. Of course, Kinsey has no desire to accept that and makes it a personal goal to track the loser down. What she discovers a long the way is that the guy is much worse than a bad check. Grafton keeps the humor and the suspense flowing with her witty, observant ...

KMM are Great!
The Book arrived quickly and in excellent condition. It's three Kinsey Millhone Novels by Sue Grafton which insures exciting plots and surefire entertainment with a good readable character. I am an alphabet mystery fancier and was certainly not disappointed by this collection. Kinsey is always endearing and guttsy. They were excellent novels! Bravo, Sue Grafton! Purchasing the three story ...

Writing Mysteries10 reviews

Writers Digest Books, 2002

The ultimate resource for Mystery Writing
Mystery Writing is an art in itself. It requires a lot of planning and preparation in order for the mystery story to work. Planting 'red herrings' and false clues in a story is an art that novice writers will have trouble in achieving with their first attempt. That is the reason why this book is so good -- it brings together the creative geniuses in the field of Mystery writing -- and these ...

I is for Innocent (Kinsey Millhone Mysteries)33 reviews
Sue Grafton

Ballantine Books, 2008

...
Kinsey is not enjoying her present state of unemployment, but she gets an opportunity when she pretty much inherits an older case of a man convicted of murdering his wife over money. Grafton cleverly battles the lifestyles of the rich and famous as well as intrigue that is both classic and surprising.

"H" is for Homicide (The Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries)43 reviews
Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2007

...
Grafton continues her clever series with this mystery that may or may not be racially charged. Kinsey takes an advantage to work under cover in a plot that is both fascinating and hilarious with another one of those "Oh, that Kinsey" moments. She has a vivid, delicious view of the California scene that few experience.

P Is for Peril (A Marian Wood Book) (Kinsey Millhone Mysteries (Hardcover))253 reviews
Sue Grafton

Amazon Remainders Account, 2001

Another Good Letter...
By now with the alphabet book, one knows the formula and either likes them or does not like them. Each one gives us more insight into Kinsey's character. In this one, there were several possibilities for the whodunit which kept me guessing. There is also a good subplot involving Kinsey renting office space. She gets a little more than she bargained for!

"G" is for Gumshoe (The Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries)54 reviews
Sue Grafton

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2007

Yay Kinsey!
In this particular mystery, Kinsey is rather forced to play the girl who has to find the dotty old woman and take her to a nursing home. Sounds like the basic babysitting gig (and Kinsey isn't exactly impressed with it) but Grafton, of course, makes the story more interesting by adding a tale of old vengeance against our Kinsey. Grafton throws in delightful temporary characters that are just as ...

The Thirty Years War (New York Review Books Classics)28 reviews
C. V. Wedgwood

NYRB Classics, 2005

A Panoramic and Poltically Sophisticated History
For the English-language reader Wedgwood's book, which has been in print for over sixty years, is still an excellent introduction and synoptic narrative of this lengthy and turbulent period of European history. It gives brief and judicious biographical sketches of the major political and military actors of three generations: The principal antagonists at the outset -- Ferdinand II of Austria and ...
