Landscape Graphics 25 reviews Grant Reid
Watson-Guptill, 2002
a must have This book is an absolute must-have for the beginning landscape designer/architect's personal library. As a fifth year landscape architecture student, my book is in wretched condition due to the fact that I refer to it constantly, more than any other book I own. It will continue to be useful to me for years to come.

How To Be a Graphic Designer Without Losing Your Soul 18 reviews Adrian Shaughnessy
Princeton Architectural Press, 2005
Amazing, But Looking For a Bit More Amazing book - a great read for any individual who is thinking of defining their place in the Graphic Arts world. You can seriously learn something new or reaffirming from it every time you pick it up.
- Don't look for solid examples of what steps to follow, the overview is good, but it being told by somebody who has been in the industry for years and never appeared to have any major struggles ...

Interactive Computer Graphics: A Top-Down Approach Using OpenGL (5th Edition) 3 reviews Edward Angel
Addison Wesley, 2008
lovely colour plates Stop! If you have this book in hand, the first thing you should do is turn to the colour plates in the centre of the book. Slowly (there is no need to hurry) look at each. Don't worry if some of the labels use technical terms that you are unaware of. The book teaches you those.
Admire the beauty of the plates. It gives an overview of much of current computer graphics. Far more inspiring than ...

Architectural Graphics 17 reviews Francis D. K. Ching
Wiley, 2002
Architectural Graphics, et al - excellent books, DECEPTIVE advertising Get your act together Amazon or Wiley (I suspect Wiley) !!! (especially, note my final paragraph below)
1. This is NOT a hardback.
2. The "et al" is because this is NOT a single volume as suggested by the single ISBN 0471738263, but a COLLECTION of 3 PAPERBACKS - Architectural Graphics 4th ed ISBN 0471209066 (note different ISBN from that for the 3-volume set cited under only Ching's book ...

Design Elements: A Graphic Style Manual 11 reviews Timothy Samara
Rockport Publishers, 2007
Well written and fun! Amazing book by Timothy. It's perfect for young designers, unlike myself, who need to learn basics in graphic design. As a more experienced professional I had fun reading the book and I'm gonna keep it in my office for use of all new interns so they find out a little more by themselves. The only downside I see is the small grey texts, but fortunately my eyes are still in perfect conditions.

Graphic Design History: A Critical Guide 2 reviews Johanna Drucker, Emily McVarish
Prentice Hall, 2008
Lively and Thoughtful Survey of the Field This book is a splendid addition to the field of Graphic Design History. Until recently the study of graphic design lacked the sort of critical analysis that art historians have routinely lavished on painting or sculpture. Drucker and McVarish do a great job of engaging the reader in their thought processes. Some of the best pages are mash-ups of colorful and diverse graphics with interjected ...

Layout Workbook: A Real-World Guide to Building Pages in Graphic Design 14 reviews Kristen Cullen
Rockport Publishers, 2007
Check out the whole series! This was the first book that I bought in Rockport's series of graphic design books. It provides great information for designing layouts and even shows examples from real publications. The only gripe I have is the small font was a bit hard to read in a dimly lit room (but most trendy publications are that way now). But despite that, the book is still readable in good lighting and provides ...

Becoming a Graphic Designer: A Guide to Careers in Design 3 reviews Steven Heller, Teresa Fernandes
Wiley, 2005
Great book depending upon your interest I do agree with the previous reviewer that this book does not have practical advice in terms of performing graphic design related duties. There are plenty of books out there that you can acquire that will outline the process of designing, design elements etc... such as "The Elements of Graphic Design" by Alex. W. White.
However, this book as its sub-title clearly states is "A Guide to ...

Architectural Graphic Standards, 11th Edition 9 reviews The American Institute of Architects
Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2007
A must-have for design professionals! For over 70 years, architects have been using a valuable reference book, "Architectural Graphic Standards."
"Architectural Graphic Standards" (11th edition) is organized roughly per the UniFormat(r) classification system, i.e., by function instead of by product or material. This new edition has expanded and new content covering contemporary issues, such as LEED standards, green materials, ...

Graphic Design: A New History 8 reviews Stephen J. Eskilson
Yale University Press, 2007
Don't wait till your professor assigns this book . . . Eskilson's New History is a long overdue addition to textbooks on Graphic Design that before now have had to largely suffice with the sporadically updated Meggs' History of Graphic Design. Eloquent and illuminating, Eskison spans the modern age and then goes deep into contemporary design with a fine attention to the artistic and technical developments in the field. Eskilson pays special attention ...
