Exposure Digital Field Guide 6 reviews Alan Hess
Wiley, 2009
highly recommend! I am professional commercial/fine art photographer, and OH how I wish I had this little gem back when I was starting out. It's got a recipe for everything! That makes getting great shots very simple, way before needing to learn the "theory" behind the settings. My favorite part was Alan's explanations of the LOGIC, that is questions to ask yourself...the order of decisions one must consider ...

The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy 1108 reviews Vicki Iovine
Pocket, 2007
You are pregnant...the sky is NOT falling...Enjoy it while it lasts! Loved it! Loved her refreshing way of telling us about not only her four experiences but experiences of her girlfriends as well. Everyone knows that every pregnancy is different and many books i've read seem to treat every pregnancy as if they were all identical. Loved her humor. When you are pregnant (especially the first time) sometimes it feels like you are bombarded with worst case ...

Excellent Drug Book This book was very useful in nursing school. It has a CD-rom with a downloadable drug guide. I was able to cut and paste drug information from it and did not have to retype information for drug sheets.

The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead 466 reviews Max Brooks
Three Rivers Press, 2003
Now you will be ready when the zombies attack! This was an awesome read! Very quick and fun, I read it in less than a week (its about 250 pages long with a few illustrations). The book covers everything you could need to know in the event of a zombie outbreak: what to have, what weapons to use, where to hide, what to eat, how to get around and most importantly: how to most effectivly kill the living dead without becoming an undead coarpse ...

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth 281 reviews Ina May Gaskin
Bantam, 2003
Best in Show!! I read way too many pregnancy books before I got to this one. It literally changed the way I view childbirth and I am so thankful to these crazy hippies! I always pass it on to the newly pregnant...the positive birth stories alone give the first time mom an idea of what birth might be like and a sense of assurance that your body was made to do this.
The pragmatic analyst in me appreciated the ...

A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge: (Pmbok Guide) 42 reviews
Project Management Institute, 2008
The PMBOK is to Project Management, as a Dictionary is to English 1. If you are a new project manager or are studying for the PMP, look at another book or take a class on how to successfully manage a project. This is NOT a "how-to" book.
Now that's out of the way...
The PMBOK is an excellent reference of what is in project management. It is similar to a dictionary. Don't expect that by reading a dictionary, you will be able to put together a novel or ...

The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition 31 reviews The College Board
College Board, 2009
the official SAT study guide i personally think that this is the best SAT prep book out there. My kids used the SAT books published by the College Board and had gotten good results. They scored 790 and 800 in math. Despite of some typos in the latest edition, I still give it 5 stars. I don't believe that other publishers can come up with questions like the College Board. How can a copy be the same or better than the original?

Harper Paperbacks, 2004
Perfect. I really have enjoyed this book. I like how its broken down and how they give the information. It's logical and percise. Which is perhaps maybe exactly what one would expect from the Mayo Clinc.
I have loved their graphs, checklists, pictures and weekly breakdowns.

The Real ACT Prep Guide: The Only Official Prep Guide From The Makers Of The ACT 34 reviews ACT Inc.
Peterson's, 2007
Great for Practicing - not for learning strategy. I tutor students in ACT prep and this is the only workbook I use. I like it because it has real ACT tests from the past, so my students feel confident walking into the test for real. But if you're looking to learn good strategies, this is not the resource for you. I would go with Princeton Review's smaller book, I forget the exact title, but it outlines ten survival tips for acing the ACT. That ...

The Politically Incorrect Guide(tm) to the Constitution (Politically Incorrect Guides) 61 reviews Kevin R. C. Gutzman

An instant classic. Professor Gutzman writes in a clear and understandable manner and in doing so he provides a view of the Constitution many have never seen. I found myself learning (and unlearning) on every page. If you want to learn about the Constitution, do yourself a favor and read this book-and all the recommended reading (including Tom Woods' books). This work is a treasure trove of information. Fiske Guide to Colleges 2010, 26E 15 reviews Edward Fiske
Sourcebooks, Inc., 2009
great preview of colleges Fiske gives an overview of hundreds of colleges using the same format for each school. The scores, quality of life, seriousness of each school ratings are very helpful. The only confusing part is comparing what a particular school's primary majors are with the listing of what schools have great programs in each major--somewhat contradictory.
