Excellent book on the life of the different ethnic groups.
This book revives memories of times gone by. It covers a period of laborers working in the sugar plantations of Hawaii. A diverse group of people, coming together under hardships, overcoming adversity and language barriers. Mr. Takaki did an excellent combination of relating the days that made sugar King, and how it was built on the backs of the Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino's. ...

Perfect for the Young Reader
The entire Hana Kimi series is a great collection for the young reader of today. Its satirical attitude and real life situations compiled with well made and loved characters make fora great story, a blast of well blended appealing visuals, and an all together fantastic experience. I highly recommend the talents of Hisaya Nakajo in this hillarious, touching story.

amazing, magical story
I have read this book to my fourth grade class for the past two years. They are instantly drawn to Hana, Fumiko, and the story of the Holocaust. The minute they see the picture of Hana's Suitcase, they begin to ask all the questions that the children in Japan asked of Fumiko. They always want me to continue reading and they are so eager to find out about her story. This book has inspired so ...

Hana Highway Mile by Mile a winner!
Maui's Hana Highway is one of the best drives in the United States. It deserves a great tour book, and Derrick's Hana Highway Mile By Mile is the one to take along. The book delivers just what it promises: A comprehensive guide of the sights along the route, mile by mile. The book's organization makes it simple to find out about the next point of interest ahead as you are driving. The book ...

Hana in the Time of the absent parent
I loved Hana because I sympathize with her. My Dad is obsessed with his job and never seems to have enough time for me. I even asked him to read this book and he told me he was too busy. This story may be about tulips but it could be about any parent I know. Dr Phil should feature this book on his show. I just want to thank my teacher Ms Miller for giving me this great book to read.

All Star Manga
I'll be very sad when this series ends. I rate it as "above average" manga. Most of the main characters are developed more deeply than in most mangas. Has lots of twists and turns. High anxiety romance. No character is safe from the kind of human frailty that we would face in our existing human reality, and that's why I think that this series is an all star manga!

Long-time fan, have issues with translation
This is not a negative review - don't get me wrong. I love this series, and recommend it heartily to any shoujo anime fan. I do have a bone to pick with the English publisher/translator, however. I've followed HYD from the time it was still serialized in Margaret. I have Japanese text tankubon with pages of English translation notes. I loved and obsessed over Makino's problems then, and ...

Another Great Volume!
Well this finally officially came out in English! I am so happy! This volume is better than volume 14 in my personal opinion because it has the whole love triangle between izumi, mizuki, and nakatsu completely throughout the whole volume. But it basically focuses on Nakatsu's feelings towards Mizuki and and Mizuki dealing with izumi. And Izumi is starting to have trouble keeping in his feelings ...

An essential reflection on the wedding industry and modern bride experience
Hanna Schank's story of "How I Survived the Happiest Day of My Life" is essential reading for any bride, groom, family member, wedding party member, newlywed, wedding guest, literature fan, or memoir fan. I read this book just a year after planning my own wedding, I had repeated moments of identification with Schank's experience. I would have loved to have been given this book as a ...

HORRAH!!
Finally, the newst Hana-Kimi has finally come out! I have been waiting for this book to come out for the LONGEST time ever! This story gets a little steamier with the Mizuki and Sano story but it is very short with the main plot because half way through Nakajo-sensei decides to do three special chapters about Umeda's past life when he attended Osaka High and the guy he's in love with. Anyway ...
