Secrets of the Highwayman10 reviews
Sara Mackenzie

Avon, 2006

WONDERFUL ADVENTURE
I picked up this book yesterday because I liked PASSIONS OF THE GHOST so well, and yes, this one is just as good or even better. The paranormal aspect is wonderful and the romance is lovely. I liked the historical part and very much enjoyed the swirling circumstances. Lots of action, romance, and adventure. Melanie Jones is a lawyer who is sent to get an old castle and grounds ready for sale. ...

The Highwayman37 reviews
R. A. Salvatore

Tor Fantasy, 2007

Salvatore at his best
The Highwayman by R.A. Salvatore is a prequel novel set in his signature world of Corona. This book is a prequel to the highly acclaimed Demon War saga. The first book in the Demon War saga, Demon Awakens, is a fantastic novel and one I think every fantasy fan should read. The beauty of The Highwayman, is that a reader needs not to have read the Demon Wars books to understand anything that occurs ...

Highwayman, The (Visions in Poetry)1 review
Alfred Noyes

Kids Can Press, Ltd., 2005

Disappointed
I imagined that the illustrations would somehow cleverly transport the poem into the present. Alas, no such luck. Seems as though the illustrator just drew a lot of motorcycle pictures with little thought as to how to connect them with the story line. Maybe the time and setting ought not be fooled with in the first place.

The Highwayman's Footsteps
Nicola Morgan

Candlewick, 2007

"The novel gallops along at a cracking pace, packed full of plot twisters." ? THE HERALD (UK) "I felt cold metal on the side of my skull before I heard the voice. I knew at once what it was. A pistol. Resting on the bone just behind my ear. The favorite place for murderers, robbers, highwaymen ? because, by angling the pistol slightly inward, they could be sure to blow a man?s brains out before he might have time to scream." Inspired by "The ...

The Highwayman10 reviews
Alfred Noyes

Oxford University Press, USA, 1999

My favourite Poem
This poem never fails to thrill me - my mother used to read is to us as kids and I did it as the poem in my matric final. I am now a grandmother and shall read it to my grandchildren and hope that they enjoy it as much as I did, although I doubt that they shall know what a highwayman is !! It is a classic that will never die . Cecelia Pestana Johannesburg South Africa

The Highwayman: A Novel Inspired by Alfred Noyes' Poem3 reviews
Deborah Ballou

1st Books Library, 2002

Five Star Review
This book has all the elements I enjoy in a story. There is suspense until the final pages, romance, believable characters and settings. You get involved in it and hope the ending is one that is satisfying. It was! A great book.

The Last Highwayman4 reviews
Katherine O'Neal

Fanfare, 1993

I once threw this book!
This novel illicited so much emotion from me that I actually threw it aross the room, deciding (in frustration) that I would never finish it!!! (This is the only book I have ever done that with- so you know it's good!) Two days later I found it- having not been able to get it out of my mind- and finished it in one sitting. I love this novel. I have read it many times, will read it many times, and ...

The Highwayman3 reviews

Pinnacle, 1993

The Ultimate Highwayman
A wonderful story - I simply did not want the book to end! This is a keeper. The prose reminded me of my much loved "Jane Eyre" and gave me the same feeling. My only complaint was that such a great story deserved a much better cover!

The Highwayman's Daughter (Legendary Lovers)1 review
Anne Avery

Love Spell, 1998

A Wonderful Book Based on "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes
Don't let my four star rating keep you from reading this book. I only give five stars to my all time favorite books. What the book is about: Lizzie Tynsdale has always been a practical woman, more interested in running the inn she'd inherited then in romance. That is until a mysterious stranger appears at the inn one stormy night. He says his name is John Gideon, but Lizzie can't help, but have ...

My Lord Highwayman (Zebra Regency Romance)1 review
Valerie King

Zebra, 2001

a surprisingly enjoyable read!
I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did: at first glance it seemed to possess a rather predictably avereage plot -- that of a romance between a young and beautiful governess and the much wronged and ostracised hero. But Valerie King's "My Lord Highwayman" managed to suprise even me. There's so much more going on in this novel, and on every level, so that I can safely recommend this ...
