Survey Of Historic Costume: A History Of Western Dress 4 reviews Phyllis G. Tortora, Keith Eubank
Fairchild Books & Visuals, 2005
Review for the 3rd Edition of 'Historic Costume' This is the textbook from my History of Fashion course. Like nearly all Fairchild Publication books, this is extremely well put together. It describes the dress of the time, construction and what it was made of, as well as the social/historical events at the time that helped influence the dress styles. It covers women's wear, men's wear, and children's wear. It is truly an excellent resource.

The book starts with a ...

Historic Photos of Alaska (Historic Photos.) (Historic Photos.) 1 review Dermot Cole
Turner Pub Co, 2008
Take a tour of Alaska from its purchase through building the oil pipeline Alaska has always had a hold on the imagination and dreams for us in the "Lower 48". The immense size, breathtaking vistas, the immense remaining wilderness, and our belief that we can go there and test ourselves against its ruggedness draw us to it. Just attempting it would teach you something about yourself, about nature, and about life even if you didn't actually score so well in the test. ...

The Defintive Guide Found After searching the internet extensively for information on the rigging of Continental cannons and carronades I got pretty much nothing. Within 1 minute of opening this book, I had everything I needed. Reviewing additional sections showed me the wealth of information I had just tapped. The internet may have the information I need, but not at one place like this book. Excellent print, excellent ...

The Historic Thames 1 review Hilaire Belloc
BiblioBazaar, 2007
Absolutely Delightful This was considered a minor classic during the early part of the twentieth century. Nothing better has replaced it--we've just gotten stupider. This book is the type of remarkable work that one rarely sees nowadays: it's a geogaphic description of the Thames from its source to the sea and the human history tied up with the river (as well as a debunking of some of the myths of the reformation). ...

A lifelong fan of the greatest game on earth, I have often marveled at the evolution of the sport and the venues where it is played. The variety of different interpretations in use today at all ...

Colonial Mexico 2 Ed: A Guide to Historic Districts and Towns 3 reviews Chicki Mallan, Oz Mallan
Avalon Travel Publishing, 2001
Colonial Mexico 2nd edition I think this is an excellent book. I was delighted to find a guidebook that focuses on such an under appreciated topic. It is well researched and well writen. It describes many of the major colonial towns in central and southern Mexico. It provides a brief history for each town, describes the significant buildings, as well as near bye attractions. The maps are accurate and easy to read. It ...
