Unique & fascinating life story & sex manual
Quite an amazing book, about a fascinating life-story. Easy to read, a page-turner every time I pick it up. The author decided to become a celibate yogi in his 30's, after 20 years with an travelling orchestra with lots of sex and women in every city. When he was told that Karezza was better than celibacy for a spiritual life, he decided to try Karezza instead of Brahmacharya. Surprisingly, ...

A great book!
This book and its companion book for wives are really great books. They are easy to read and are must reads for all husbands, wives and those considering marriage. If we all followed the advice in these books we would have loving, satisfying and successful marriages. I've bought several copies and have given them out to friends. As far as I can see the Biblical principles are sound too.

The animal within.
I first came across Sylvia Plath during my college days. Her poem 'Daddy' come to mind, but it was always the drama and the tale of her lurid death that seemed to outshine all else. And what about 'her husband', Ted Hughes? Just as monumental, dynamic and destruction as Plath herself. In this biography by Middlebrook, piece by piece, a tale unveils itself as a vivid account of two of 20th ...

A joyful read - infinitely better than the movie!
I read Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands some 20 years ago, and it impressed me so much and stayed with me that I just bought a copy as a Birthday present for my brother, a Medieval English professor. I still have my own copy for re-reading (as well as many other novels by Jorge Amado). If you've only seen the movie, you don't know what you've missed. Jorge Amado is within the realm of Latin ...

Not Good
I love true crime stories. But, this was not one of them. If you love Ann Rule books, as I do, skip this author. Too much "legal(eze)" & not enough story. I am not interested in the law being explained to me. More interested in the STORY not the legal aspect of it. No background interviews, as Ann does. Just the facts. Boring. Skipped over most of it. Don't waste your money.

'My Spirit Rejoices'& 'Light in the Darkness' or 'The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur' - Sophia Institute Press It is not often that one finds a book of such vital import that it changes one's life. But the journal kept by Elisabeth Leseur is surely one of the most compelling books I have read in many years. It ranks with the great works of the Carmelite Saints: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of ...

If only all books were this sensible!!
Best book of its type I've seen (by "this type" I mean pregnancy/birth books). Very easy to read, informative, doesn't mince words about some of the, well, disgusting after effects of pregnancy without being scary about it. Positive, with sensible remedies where appropriate and calming words were needed. If your partner doesn't want to read it, get it for yourself.

A convicting and hopeful view of God's purpose in marriage.
After three years of marriage, my husband and I (both Christians) had already discussed divorced. I 'accidentally' (in God's providence) stumbled across this CD while perusing Douglas Phillips' website, and I thought it looked like something that would be edifying to me. I cannot accurately put into words the blessing this picture of a biblical marriage has been to me. Phillips does direct some ...

Terrific read.
This has intersting facts about Mary, Queen of Scots. Like the other Dead Famous books, this includes cartoons too adding to the fun of reading. Children would love this book and likely become interested in Mary and her world. Mary did not have a very good end though. For nineteen years (!) she was imprisoned in various castles before meeting a very gory end. I recommend this in addition to ...

my consolation
I bought this book from a thrift store. Every time my husband goes to Iraq I read it. He's been over there four times. Every time I read it as this war goes on it becomes more relevant as the level of discontent towards this war increases.
