Fundamentals of Illustration 5 reviews Lawrence Zeegan
AVA Publishing, 2006
Excellent resource & eye candy. This book is currently being used as our "unofficial textbook" in my illustration class. A very good overview of illustration careers and practices. Also, this book is great eye candy. I've been inspired to experiment a little more based on the different types of illustration in this book.
Excellent for art students and those considering careers in illustration or graphic design.

Essential Fashion Illustration 8 reviews Maite Lafuente
Rockport Publishers, 2006
not a fashion illustrator I'm not in the slightest interested in being part of the fashion industry, but I love this book. It's the best one I've found on the market for learning to draw people. A lot of drawing books are for pencil sketchers and I was looking for ink and finished line drawing work. This book is excellent for that.

Big Book of Fashion Illustration: A Sourcebook of Contemporary Illustration 5 reviews Martin Dawber
Batsford, 2008
Not just another drawing book! When I bought this I was worried that I would be stuck with another "how-to" manual for fashion illustration. I just received my copy and wow! I'm so pleased with the quality of the illustrations and the variety of styles presented within- I can't wait to get drawing!
This was exactly what I was looking for, a source for stylistic inspiration to bring into my own drawing skills.

Illustration Play 2 reviews
Victionary, 2007
A Creative High Point I found Illustration Play very inspiring. While the hand of the artist is clearly evident in the included work, it brings a warm handmade aesthetic that is not just another gimmicky contrived DIY style, but the real deal. Good solid work throughout.

Creative Photoshop: Digital Illustration and Art Techniques, covering Photoshop CS3 (Digital Workflow) 2 reviews Derek Lea
Focal Press, 2007
Phenomenal! I purchased this book on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of its content. Lea takes readers step by step through simple and very complex design techniques. His instructions are easy to follow and, unlike many other Photoshop books I have picked up, just as easy to apply to other projects!
Having access to the author through the reader forum on the book website makes this an ...

Illustration Now, Vol. 2 4 reviews
Taschen, 2007
Wicked Cool I love this book. I bought it as an impusle buy but I can't stop flipping through it. Lots of inspiring artwork. My only complaint is that the artist's blurbs were for the most part unsatisfying. They sounded like something the artists release en masse to their publicists. I would have liked to hear more about how they work and their techniques. But I guess they can't give away all their ...

Beautiful Fashion Illustrators To all the aspiring fashion designers, illustrators, and hipsters... this is a beautiful book to own. I highly approve of this purchase, along with a new pair of shoes.

Swindoll's Ultimate Book of Illustrations & Quotes: Over 1,500 Ways to Effectively Drive Home Your Message 3 reviews Charles R. Swindoll
Thomas Nelson, 2003
Help from a master servant of the Master We all need a good story. We need to people our exposition with the concrete. The listeners hope to hear the words "there was this man that... or I am told that ...", knowing that the preacher is using a storehouse of wisdom. Preaching is not about one's own special story, but about clearly and in an entertaining manner telling our shared experience and needs. This type of book is a must for all ...

The Guild Handbook of Scientific Illustration 4 reviews
Wiley, 2003
The definitive reference for scientific illustration Since its first edition this book has been by far the best single resource available for anyone with a serious interest in scientific, medical, biological, nature, botanical, or wildlife illustration. Don't be daunted by the price - this book is worth far more than the next 10 competing books combined. I've been a professional medical and scientific illustrator for 35 years, and I own hundreds ...

The Dore Bible Illustrations 8 reviews Gustave Dore
Dover Publications, 1974
A fun, easy way to learn more about the Bible In 1865, Gustave Dore illustrated an edition of the Bible with drawings that are popular to this day. This collection of Dore's 241 Bible plates from Dover Publications sells for a very reasonable price. I think some of Dore's illustrations are wonderful. Among my favorites are a portrait of Amos, Jesus and the woman of Samaria, and the arrival of the Good Samaritan at the inn.
One thing that ...

Great Book! This is a terrific book. I purchased it with the companion book on Animals. It is a "must have" for anyone interested in art, biology, or just a good coffee table book. It will keep youngsters quiet for hours with the facinating illustrations. Very high quality. You just can't beat the price either. I highly recommend it. You, too, can be botanically correct!

Gestalten Verlag, 2007
GORGEOUS! I bought this book along with the "Bologna Annual Illustrators of Children's Books" catalogue and leave both of them on my coffee table. The illustrations as well as graphic artwork for anything from books to band posters and advertisements are beautiful and very inspiring. I find myself sitting on the couch flipping through it regularly. Well worth the money!

Dover Publications, 1976
An Excellent book for the Doré or Dante lover The quality of this book - along with an amazingly affordable price tag - quickly persuaded me to pick up a copy. Its really everything you could ask for in an art book;
The pictures are all very big, but not overwhelming; Its easy to see minute detail, and the overall scope of the image. I actually blew up some of the prints in photoshop and printed them on huge poster paper for my room, ...
