The Maui CEO: Import from China, Sell on eBay, and Live Wherever You Want14 reviews
John Tennant

iUniverse, Inc., 2008

Honest, practical advice. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Maui CEO is better than the 4-hr Workweek: it articulates the practical ways to get stuff cheap in China, and honestly addresses the complexities of small businesses. I especially like his ideas on buying large items (over 150 lbs) to avoid some competition, since UPS doesn't ship items that heavy. Once I started the book, I didn't want to put it down. Great reading and great information!"

Start Your Own Import Export Business (Start Your Own Business)10 reviews
Prentice Hall

Prentice Hall Press, 1996

Useful, no nonsense
I am surprised by all the other negative reviews. THis is a good book on the basics of importing. It is a little general, and some is a little out of date. Good ideas, and a good start. I copied the cover so I could read some of the publishers other titles. I liked it. I also recommend Nelson, Zodl, and Weiss' books. THose are more specific with details.

IMPORT EXPORT From Home: An introductory course in International trade for the home worker1 review
David Buch

BookSurge Publishing, 2006

A light read with little value added
Before moving to the content of the book the editng and presentation of the material deserve some comment. The author recommends the use of spellchecker; this isn't bad advice but he should extend careful proof reading to his own text. Bill of Lading comes to mind. The pages of example forms look like the output from a photocopier in need of toner. The editor and publisher haven't done the ...

Chilton's Import Car Service Manual: 1997-2001 (Chilton's Import Auto Service Manual, 2001)2 reviews
The Nichols/Chilton Editors

Haynes Manuals, Inc., 2000

Rehashed old info
A reader from Rochester,NY , August 3, 1999 My customer satisfaction with this book is very low. I deeply regret not heeding the comments of the online reviewers. Mainly because, I was raised on Chilton manuals and have never been disappointed until now. This manual is lacking in critical information for your most basic repairs. The layout is extremely confusing. Chilton has dropped many of ...

Export Import4 reviews
Joseph A. Zodl

Betterway Books, 2002

Really good. Makes a difficult subject clear.
This is very well written, and explains how things actually work in international business. It explains the terminology and how to do the documents, and where to get the documents done for you (third party providers that you can hire). The chapter on Getting Paid is especially useful. The chapter on Terms of Sale explains how to avoid a lot of mistakes you could make really easily.
